Unboxing And Review Of The Keg King Chubby 30L Pressure Fermenter

Ойын-сауық

Time for another equipment review. This time it's the 30L Chubby from Keg King. An absolutely boss pressure fermenter if you're struggling for space.
Here's a link to buy one from The Malt Miller.....

Fermenting under pressure has huge benefits, including low ester formation, less dependence on temperature control, oxygen-free transfer and beer that is near-carbonated after fermentation. For homebrewers and small-batch brewers, pressure fermentation allows for faster fermentation times.
Looking for an affordable, closed-bottom pressure fermenter that will hold a 23L (6-gallon) batch of beer?
Chubby is perfect for 23-25L batches and still provides plenty of fermenter headspace. Great for beer kits, fresh wort kits and wine kits.
These rugged, durable PET pressure fermenters are made from the same crystal clear PET material as our entire line of pressure fermenters and unitanks. Plus they include stainless steel handles.
Chubby features the same hardware on the lid as a Ball Lock Keg so gas and liquid are easily controlled for transfers, fermentation pressure and serving.
Brewers can still extract bright, clear beer after fermentation by way of the floating dip tubes that come standard with each Chubby fermenter.
Chubby can be cleaned with your Corny Cleaner or simply soak in 50C or under of your favourite cleaning solution.
The super smooth interiors make it easy to remove fermentation debris, making cleanup simple.
Dimensions:
Height = 595 to top of posts on the lid
Width = 300mm round
Add a SPUNDY to control the internal pressure of the fermenter.
After fermentation, you can carbonate your beer in the Chubby
Attach Chubby to your tap system or any hand-held tap and serve directly out of the fermenter.
Alternatively, you can transfer carbonated beverages oxygen free easily from Chubby into a keg

Hi boys, rather than put gas on permanently during cold crash I just put 15psi in the all rounder which still leaves a positive pressure in the vessel after cold crash causes most of it to absorb.

ENZYBREW 10 that the malt miller stock works well, I also use a cloth inside the fv to help. Much prefer the chubby to the fermzilla gen 2 conical due to space and ease of cleaning.

Those aquarium temperature labels are very useful.

I've got the 10L version of this, it has the same lid, I find it a pain in the a** to use as I'm not sure I've got it completely clean. I know it's bigger (fatter) but the fremzilla is just better overall, oh and it's cheaper!! The Apollo is just silly money and not (in my opinion) in the race.

It's targeting a different audience. The Apollo is great, it's just great in a different way.

Just read the description. Looks like a great bit of kit! I may have been labouring under a misconception that it wasn’t the best idea to store the beer and later serve it, when it was over the spent yeast sediment that’s settled-out, after fermentation. Could be wrong!

I mean it’s not uncommon I get yeast in my Keg from transferring it. It settles out to the bottom. It’s more the hop burn with prolonged dry hop times

Chubby works great, but agree cleaning issues. Not had krausen that high. Malt Miller had a j shaped natural bristle bush which works well. Do like the Keg King junior too as its 19l. For venting without spunding valve, could you not just pull the prv?

I don’t think it was for venting, it was for doing different PSi pressure fermenting which you can use a spunding valve. Unless I’ve miss understood. We’ll check out the keg king junior

I’ve not seen one of those before. Can the beer be fermented out and then served from that vessel? I ferment beer in a bin then transfer it to a pressure barrel when ready.

Yeah I’d be careful serving dry hopped beer from it. You don’t want hop burn to appear. But yeah you can, although I never do as I’ve got a keg set up.
