    Thanks Pierre - I was looking to buy one of these and your video convinced me. I got it delivered today and looking forward to making some good beers with it! I think this is the pick of all the plastic pressure fermenters on the market at the moment.

    Chubby by name, Chubby by nature. I found using food grade lube on the main O-ring improvised the rubber, causing it to swell a few mm's, therefore it leaked like a sieve!

    Hi Mocha Zarba thanks for your feedback. If you are experiencing o-ring swelling I would suggest you are using a petroleum based product that reacts to different types of rubber and silicone. The one I use is lubri-film which is a mineral based lubricant that will not react with these materials and is very safe for human consumption Hope this helps with your future brews.

    @@SimpleHomeBrew Thanks for reply. I'm using the same lube on my Chubby!! (Lubri-Film Plus) that is causing the problem. I'm waiting on delivery for a silicone food grade O-ring. I'll see how that goes.

    My kit came with marked liquid and gas posts. The Gas post is the one with the small wedges cut out of them. Good to have things consistent.

    They're actually not that hard to clean inside with a cloth and the narrower mouth allows for a better pressure seal than other tanks out there

  • @SimpleHomeBrew

    Question, how do you clean the inside. I use a large cloth and swirl it around until it looks clean. Seems to work. But I can never be sure?

    @@SimpleHomeBrew I do the same. I rinse as much as I can first first, then i fill with 4 litres of water with sodium percarbonate and shake it around so it gets on the krausen remains, that I use a heavy cloth so it's got a bit of weight when it's inside and I swirl several times till the krausen is fully gone

    These are a nightmare to clean and tend to buckle inwards. Had to pressurise it to get back to its proper shape. 3 days of sopaking in oxyclean and the krausen ring is still there.

    First, I couldn't stop snickering about the name they gave that thing and how you kept referring to Keg King giving you a chubby. I think a marketing person did that intentionally to help with marketing as it is hard to forget a fermenter named "chubby". Was wondering about the psi of the relief valves and thanks for covering that in the end. I don't like the dip tubes without a filter, not because the filter is that useful but because it forces the dip tube hose up towards the end to avoid pulling trub. I really like the chubby although I haven't seen it in the U.S. and like the dark plastic base but wish the opening was a big larger for ease of cleaning.

    It is very well designed, simple, small with a great 30L/6.5Gallons.capacity. I am concerned with cleaning it, the opening is very small, I think I will need to make a tool for it. When I saw the video of the fermenter the Keg King made I was sucked in because of the fun name.

    I'm new to the concept of pressure fermenting. What's the point/ advantages?

  • @SimpleHomeBrew

    @SimpleHomeBrew

    3 жыл бұрын

    Pressure fermenting helps keep the koussin down and also creates free carbonation, the pressure subdues the foam created by fermentation. I once had a stout fermenting and it ended up a big mess on the floor over night, pressure fermenting stopped that. Also it is insurance that no foreign bacteria can enter once fermentation has started.
