I like the chrono, but wow, that burnt-orange Mako looked really nice!
That close up of the orange Mako sold me. It's a great looking Orient.
Glad to see more solar powered watches from brands. Perfect blend of being reliable with longevity.

How is solar powered reliable? When your watch is covered it’s not receiving charge

@@yogzm5645 Don't cover it? My GShock GW5610 has been on High ever since I bought it. With solar you get accuracy of Quartz and added longevity, since you do not need to change the battery as often. yeah but if you have the tool you can exchange batteries yourself and the batteries are super cheap and will run even in dark. Meanwhile solar still has a battery* but it costs a lot and is much harder to acquire. Also solar panels age too.
Mako 2 (black dial) is my first mechanical watch. At first considered Seiko 5KX's, but needless to say, I have no regret whatsoever to finally landed my choice to bought it and wear it daily as my beater. Had no worries acquiring scratch here and there on the watch considering the price, yet knowing its build quality provided assured me that the little guy can go everywhere, anytime. And those 'tear' only give certain characters uniquely mine, added with its distinctive 6912 arabic. "This is my MAKO 2 !", I proudly showed to people when wearing it. Such a strap monster, from rubber to leather, handsome on nylon/nato(s), in any colors! Very proud that Orient continue this lineup by releasing Mako 3, hoping that this variant heritage as affordable (for the commoners)-high spec (desk)diver watch will continuously grow strong as years gone by. I'm looking forward to see your full in depth review for this new little guy!
Very nice watches. Love that burnt orange dial! I'm actually wearing my venerable orange bezel Mako XL as I watch this. 12 years old and absolutely perfect. Still one of my favourite watches.
The new Makos look amazing. I really like the dial on the diver, and having a sapphire crystal makes it a very compelling alternative to the Kamasu.
Thanks Dave, your videos are straight fire! 🔥
I have a crush on that orange dial Mako! Thanks for posting.
I like the railroad second markers on the dive watch. And the chrono does seem like an interesting counter to the Seiko Speedtimer, particularly on price. But those bracelets probably won't win too many fans. All in all, good to see Orient progressing over time....

If they release a Panda I'm sure they'd sell a bunch instantly
Most excellent, doood! The 24h hour register will help all of us who dwell in total darkness! If they can get their chrono all charged up that is 🤔.
What a cool couple of watches. I love my Red Kamasu. I wish I had another wrist and room in my collection.
I’m really happy to see a solar added to the mako line I’ve got my Orient Neo solar and I think it’s fantastic
Have a Ray 2, but I've weary of going with another Orient due to the crown. I wish they'd change it up, make it a lil bigger or get rid of the crown guard all together.

Other than that i agree with complains on the small crown, but i've got a Kamasu II for $180 and it's such a great watch that i try to ignore that.
Both great looking watches and nice to see a solar dive chronograph !
The orange dial looks really cool.
The diver has a stunning colour ! I need one.
They are both good looking watches and nice to see a solar dive chronograph !
Love the mako3 orange dial!
I have always liked the Mako. I have a Mako gen 1. I am glad they added sapphire crystals. I will have to see what other dial colors they have. I might have to get one. I am going to have to look at the chronograph also.
Absolutely love that Mako in Orange, shame they are so hard to get in the UK.

that jdm release is banging!
the orange one looks sharp and vibrant !!!
Loving the new divers. Hoping to buy one as soon as it's available here. I can't make up my mind between the silver beige RA-AA0821S or the light blue RA-AA0818L.
The Burnt orange is amazing I want one!
The date on that Mako looks really 🔥🌙
Very cool to see the new releases on the Mako family; the four new Mako III, two JDM uniques and the chronographs (into which i would like to see a GMT bezel instead - but i won't be picky). A lot of attention and a lot of colours. I hope the traditional Ray family get some upgrades like sapphire as well, and i would definitely like to see a Kamasu GMT to complete generations I and II. Orient is doing great things in the $160 to $300 range.

I'd say the fume dial and circular hour marker 'Kamasu v2' releases _were_ in effect updated Rays... Kamasu should really only refer to the baton indices models imo 🤷🏻♂️

Kamasu II is closer to the Kamasu I than to the Mako II, specially in handset.
The bezel is aligned on the chrono, you just didnt quite put it back in the correct place :) Check the shot before you turned it the first time
The big improvement of this model is the crown. It's a lot more grippy than the Kamasu. It also does accept Kamasu strapcode bracelets.
Thanks Dave. Do you know what the full range of colourways will be for both the Divers and the Chronos? I am more interested in the Chronos - I am still thinking about going for the Red Kamasu.
WOW! When should we expect them to be available in the US!!! Great Review!
Very nice, thanks for the review. Curious if the kamasu bracelet fits the Chrono. Need a jubilee on that one..
I wish they would offer a version with a brushed/satin/beadblasted finish, similar to whatever finish the Citizen NY0040 has.
The Ray and Mako are not actually dive watches (according to Orient) but dive style sports watches. They fall short everywhere when you look at the ISO standard, from the thin springbars to the water resistance. They still look good though but I gave mine away because of the tiny crown and difficult to grip bezel when it was wet.
I really like that orange one, so I've been looking for that orange and can't find it anywhere. Any recommendations on where to get it? Or do we just need to wait for them to get to the public.
The chrono seems to be a very interesting release.
I'd like to see the chrono's crown style on the new Mako/Kamasu.
Orient is kicking ass and taking names when it comes to absolutely kick a$$ value!
that orange diver is beautiful
Could you put a link in the description as to where to buy the orange Mako III?
One thing that I noticed that you did not touch on is that the the seconds hand in the new Mako 3 is noticeably shorter than the one on the original Kamasu. That may seem a but nit picky, but I prefer the seconds hand on the original Kamasu.
Nice! Is the mako 3 bracelet stainless steel ?
Just WOW! Good job Orient!
What's with 24hr complications on chronographs are they any use at all? But the Mako colours are really out there!
Comparing to Kamasu, what I like is new Mako has nice unique colour on dial and bezel. However I still prefer the hands of Kamasu because it is easier to read at one glance, even so inside a dark room from the lumed hands. One can easily tell which is hour hand and minute hand. More so the long sharp minute and second hand reaching the minute markers.

Agreed for the most part. I like the Kamasu hands much better and wild have liked them on the Mako purely for legibility.
Glad to see that the new Chrono has a brushed bezel edge. I wish they would tone down the mirror polishing on the Kamasu, or perhaps offer a fully brushed/satin/beadblasted version, because IMO when the regular bezel (like on the orange one) reflects direct light it kinda looks like it has diamonds set in it - am not really stoked about that. I love the watch and own the green one, but don't wear it often because it's like having a disco ball on the wrist with all the mirror polishing.

Agree. Would jump on a brushed version. I guess fully polished is retro, but not everything has to be a nod to the past. Also, a polished tool watch seems silly.

@@davida3025 Youre right I guess its still popular with a lot of people, but yea, a tool watch shouldn't really be polished.
Wow that orange is great
Orange dial looks nice, hopefully the rest of the world will get similar. The solar chrono is a decent Seiko alternative but unusual to see a misaligned bezel. I still think the Triton mini is the pick of the range should you have at least a 7 inch wrist. Also, am I the only one that doesn't think the bracelets are that bad?
I would love to see from all the videos on watches with day/date to see at what time date change and how it changes as well. thanks!

Dave, Have you done a review on the Casio Oceanus?
That orange one 👌
Orange is beast 🎉🎉🎉
Great review! I am looking for a diver watch but confuse between RA-AA0819N19B and RA-AA0810N19B can you do a comparison between two. Thanks
Any idea when these are slated to hit the US?
I don't own an Orient but the green Kamasu is the one I've had my eye on for a while. With 2 babies and 1 income, it's heard to justify a luxury purchase. Will the release of the Mako III drive the Mako II price down? This broke dad might settle for a Mako II if it the price is right. It will replace my casio duro and invicta pro driver.
Can you manually set the position of the seconds hand like on the Seiko solars?
Would pay a bit more for a ceramic bezel though, since when the aluminium ones scratch it is really visible
i like the second one wauw thats lovely
Is the crown larger than Ray and Kamasu? It looks like it is.
Lots of Makos recently :D
11:58 You need to hold the case at 90 degrees perpendicular to the caliper arms when measuring lug to lug. I question your measurement of 45.6mm.
Nothing beats the red Kamasu
Cool watches...is JDM only?
That chrono should fit really well with the female end links. I prefer female ends.
So the first one looks like a rebadged Seiko solar chrono with non screw down pushers something like an SSC019.
That chrono feels like what the Seitona should've been in terms of pricing. I am a little perplex though about having a dive-style bezel on a chronograph, if you want to time things why would you use the bezel over the chrono ? But I guess it allowed them to reuse the parts from their mako lineup and just jam that solar chrono movement in there, keeping it cost efficient. The panda one looks great and if it werent for that useless bezel and 24 hours subdial I would probably buy one. Thanks Dave for yet another great video !

I have the green kamasu, and now I need the orange Mako.
You've got to feed the cat. LOL
It always weirds me out when 200m chronographs don’t have screw down pushers. Can somebody reassure me? Cuz I kinda want one.
The Orient divers are ISO standards unless it says Diver's 200m on the dial. These are more of a recreational dive style watch but has the 200m capability. The only ISO dive watches Orient has in their lineup are the M-force and the SKX style 43.5mm RA-EL0001B. Picked up the Mako 3 with the white dial and olive/gold bezel, really a stunner for the price.
@Nightfury0695

@@silvercornuto777I'm not selling them short. You literally repeated what i said and I mentioned the SKX style Orient model (Triton) is ISO certified. There are two variants of the Triton and only one is ISO rated which is the one with power reserve. The other variant of the Triton is not ISO rated. Currently Orient makes only two Iso rated models. And I'm not talking about the Orient star here since it's a niche brand that very few know.
I have seen the RN-AA0816L, the blue version of the new MAKO III on the ORIENT online japanese store. But, I am unable to select another country than Japan for the shipping... I am in France I can't have this beautiful little thing... Too bad... Even on e-bay you can't find it... T_T
