Today we are unboxing the latest generation of the Orient Kamasu, a more premium variant of the Orient Mako and Orient Ray! The reference numver is: RA-AA0811E19B
While Mako has an original design like the first Kamasu, this second generation has a more traditional look, just like the Ray, but with the upgrades seen on the first Kamasu, a sapphire crystal and a easier to grip bezel.
The movement F6922 is still the same as well as the case and bracelet.
As usual stay tuned for the full review!!

Really nice... especially love the dial color. A gradient dial is stunning. I have a red Kamasu, really like the originality of that design. Also have a blue Ray II, one of my favorite watches. Can't go wrong with most Orients!

This is actually verrrry nice looking. Looks nicer than the new 5kxs for my money. For my ray 2 I had to replace the bezel (preference) with a coin edge and ceramic, and a j type bezel and now I love it. This particular Kamasu looks killer!

Excellent video. I do love Orient watches. I only got two. I have an orange bezel Mako XL with the older non handwinding movement and love it. OK for shallow diving but the lume is a bit weak and not useful for deeper down. The other a 37mm dress watch that's too small for my wrist and my wife uses it. This Kamasu is very nice, great dial and nice size for the more medium sized wrists. The Mako XL is a big boy with 44.5mm diameter and suits my 8" wrist.

I chose between the Ray, Mako and Kamasu and went for the Kamasu, since I wanted that red dial and sapphire crystal. You can't really go wrong with either, mostly a matter of taste. I'm also on the camp that prefer the V1 indicies, made it more original in design. The dial on this one is stunning though.

Enjoy! There's a new or slimmed down version of the Orient Neptune known as the Triton which has slight advantages over the Kamasu and it is unfortunate that Orient did not stick with the original "shark teeth" dial because now the new time pieces lack originality save for two of the dial colors. The original "shark teeth" dial was very appropriate for the watch since Kamasu means barracuda in Japanese.

I own a Mako II, no Sapphire crystal, less refined case finish and of course different dial and bezel insert, but basically the same construction. Although I have some complaints - the hands don't line up perfectly, and the bezel action was so stiff that even after days of experimenting with the spring I eventually had to remove the O-ring -, it's still a very nice and well-loved piece of my collection. For its price I can live with these problems, but I guess I'd be a bit more apprehensive with a Kamasu II, as I think one can run into the same problems, and the Sapphire crystal and more elaborate case finish wouldn't balance out the higher price. My advice is always try to check these Orient divers in person before buying, especially if you're considering the "upgraded" models.

I like the originality of the original Kamasu as I want to stay away from any Rolex homage/knockoff/fake ones as much as I can, however after I tried one of these few days ago I am not so sure about which one to buy anymore. 😃 Yes, this has the dial setup just like a Submariner but it makes the watch look much smaller and more compact than the original Kamasu. It's for time keeping. You move the bezel counterclockwise so the triangle, (60 minute marker), lines up with minute hand. As the minute hand moves, the markers on the bezel tells you how much time has passed. It's a tool used by divers to keep track of their oxygen time underwater.✌🏽

Apparently, all the model names we know of were given by Orient USA. Orient themselves just use the RA-something for pretty much everything. This new one is pretty much a Kamasu - it has the same case, movement, bracelet, bezel, crown etc. It's just a changed dial with different indices and hand colours an different bezel inserts. That's why people are calling them Kamasu as well. And it makes sense is my book.

My concern is that this watch has a plastic movement holder, just like regular Kamasu. This is a major drawback compared to Orient Ray or Mako, which had no sapphire, but proper metal movement holders, just like any quality watch should have. As long as this feature on a new Kamasu II is not confirmed, I would wait with purchasing this one.

We can't expect the world at this price point. And it is one of the best watches out there at this price point, from reputable brands. So close Orient… upgrade the clasp and end links. I have a ray, mako and two mako XLs. All of them brand new out of the box had scratched cases from those damn cheap hollow end links. I’m not purchasing any more until they fix that issue regardless of the other upgrades.

At this price point, I doubt they'll do it. This is a watch that you can easily find at 200 something €. Look at the newer Seiko 5's and Citizen Promasters as an example - those have hollow links troughout the bracelet. The Orient bracelet is a step above from those and probably the best you'll find on an automatic watch at this price point, from reputable brands (sure you can find better on the chinese or microbrands, or on quartz pieces like some Citizen Eco-Drives.etc). But if it bothers you that much, just get a Strapcode bracelet and you get a near perfect watch for around 300€.

i always prefer Dress range and variants of Orient but never their divers, they look too conventional and always like rolex homages, always prefer Seiko Divers when comes to Divers.

It'll be a great offer late 2022 or even 2023. Now it's 100$ too expensive.

Hollow end links should be banned lol. And that crown needs to be bigger. Other than that, one of the best looking Orient divers for sure.

Sorry but the green on the bezel doesn't compliment the dial color. The colors seem to clash IMHO.

For me, the bracelet is unforgivable, having a pressed clasp and hollow end links, compared to what you can get for the same money elsewhere.

Orient just announced a third generation of Kamasus that feature a dial with arabic numbers. It comes in 4 different colours. My favourite is the one with a charcoal grey dial.

I can't understand why people are so obsessed with bezel action. I'm willing to bet 99.9% of the people that own divers....DON'T dive. Those that do dive....could care less how smooth it is....as long as it WORKS

I like dive watches because they illuminate and are usually a little more rugged but still fancy.

@@Splash111 99% of people will never use it as designed just like most people won't go swimming with their more expensive watches at all, but the bezel does kinda serve a cool purpose just to time little things like putting some Steaks on the grill or something. I think people also like it for the same reason fidget spinners exist, it's a tactile satisfying thing to do with your hands.

Not a fan of the 2 tone bezel insert. The greens dont match. If it was all black id have to jump on this one.

Meh- after the crown separated from the stem on my Triton and my friend’s Orient defender’s rotor stopped winding the movement(now requires hand-winding) I’ve lost faith in this marque.

This is definitely not the Kamasu II and should not be called that, it is very misleading. Maybe Ray 3 would be a better and more suiting name

It shares the case, bezel grip, hands and printed markers on the dial instead of chapter ring like the Kamasu and unlike the Ray which has none of these, so.....
