Finally a sane video about building a collection with an actual affordable budget. Unlike those ppl who say "for 10K this watch it's great value"

My only small critic, as someone who now has over 150 watches, some of my regrets are the brands I own multiples in. In a 10-watch collection I'd try not to duplicate any brand. Loved the video!

100% i have a 6 watch collection and it was important to me that everything was from different brands
I remember watching an earlier video of Dave's where he said he wanted to get hands on with the videography side of things and Dave hats off this is some of the finest videography, loved it and also loved the way you approach collecting.

Great picks, Dave! I’d probably slide a G-Shock DW5600 in there for ~$50, too!

You can also save for 2-3 months and have money accumulated and at the end finish buying a more expensive version. But you are right, a gshock is a must. 👍

I am really liking the G-Shock GM-S2100-3AJF, a smaller 40mm CasiOak model in a steel case, which works on a small wrist. It's less utilitarian in design than a DW5600, but it's still a 200m WR do everything G-Shock. You can wear it to a meeting or wear it to hunt zombies, your choice 😛

WOW! I'm impressed by your very first watch on this list! It looks gorgeous! And with a solid movement at that affordable price on top of it. Just that watch alone made my day 😄👍🏼 Thanks for sharing and giving us the opportunity to discover these nice watches.
Great video, Dave. Wonderful photography. Thanks!
Great choices Dave. The Wise has never been on my radar before today. Beautiful watch. I think that Bulova Lunar Pilot on a Beads of Rice is a pretty awesome combination as well.
Give or take one or two of these and you are pretty much on the mark! Nice collection, thanks for sharing!
Really nice list of affordable watches. Thanks for the video 👍
Love this video!!! And the concept going back!!!
I know this is already an old video, but still I have few things to say. Firstly I just found your channel and it really "resonates" with me. Also in this particular video I would love to see a Seiko Diver. But that's just me because I'm a diver watch enthusiast. And at the end: I learned a few new to me micro brands from your channel which I liked a lot. Thanks you!
Great collection! Great video love your channel. Spot on with your picks.
I really like this video, you show a great variety of watches that are within reasonable reach for the average joe like myself. Thank you.
A fantastic selection Dave, but what pleased me more than anything was seeing your beater Casio in among all the other beautiful watches. Nice selection.
Excellent video, thoroughly entertaining. Thanks!
i subscribed on your channel because your one of those watch youtubers who frequently recommends budget watches
That was fun! Thanks for sharing your collection and recommendations!
Another great vid Dave!
Well done Dave, love the Night Hawk
Awesome man, thanks for sharing your collection 👍
Love the 'allowance' approach. I've used that approach for some time now for my various hobbies. Its amazing what a little discipline can accomplish. Also, don't think that the FP background props have gone unnoticed...
I really appreciate this collection. Fantastic.
Great video Dave. You nailed it. 👏 ❤
Great video, Dave. I've been collecting for around 25 years. I don't buy anything above 1000eur. And my main difficulty is to put them in a box of 10 slots. Sold a lot of watches in the meantime, some of them i keep because they have a story or sentimental value to me. But I am really glad with my collection. In the last 2 years I only bought 2 watches, a Smiths Commando and a Lorier Safari. The actual value of the collection is around 5000€. Not much for a 25years journey and a lot of fun.
Im impressed with microbrands that really punch above their weight - and I love your picks!
Great idea for a video. Thanks Dave!
These are awesome options! I have several of them on my list to purchase. I’m watching the Seiko SARX, Lunar Pilot, Wise Adamascus, and the Citizen Nighthawk. That Merkur GMT and the Namica are very nice looking too.
Love your affordable watch videos. I would love to see you do a review on the Seiko chronograph SSB417P. It has saphire crystal, 100m WR, history of Seiko and is quarts accurate. Keep up the good work!
Great video Dave ! Good job bro. Nice collection.

Realistic watch collection that average Joe can have.We all would like to have top shelf brands but there are too many needs for limited resources to spend 5-10 k on a watch.I have 60 watches that I’ve collected over last 20 years and the most I ever spent was 1k for one watch. The rest average 100-300.I am a dial guy and I only collect automatics.Replacing batteries is a hassle.Thank for videos that paint realistic collecting for the masses.
I put my W217 on a black NATO and I love it! Great picks!
I own the Wise... but in LE bronze, It is my favorite watch in my collection, hands down! Will probably be buying different variants in the future. Currently I am only losing 1 sec every two days... incredible.
Nice selection. Over the years my 10 watch collection has morphed into Citizens, a couple Casios, 2 Islanders, and an Alpina. All sale prices except the Islanders, so maybe 2K and change I have in them. Mix of watch types. I have to say, the Islander's are extreme value, no real compromises (ghost position is about it) for $300+/-.
Good episode! Good picks👍🏻
Dave, Tim from Montana. Love this episode. Escapement’s Flieger is one in very tempted to get. Glad the service was prompt…relatively speaking. I’m surprised you didn’t have the Royale in the mix but I understand the 217. I’m going to leapfrog off your rebuilding a watch collection, great idea. I’d love to collaborate sometime. Stay in touch and thanks for a great video! Tim
@JusttheWatch

Thanks Tim! The only reason the Royal wasn't in there is I was trying to keep the list to 10 watches total. In reality I most likely would have snuck in a few extra Casios along the way, the Royale being one of them! If you have any ideas for a Collab, let me know!
Nice to see a Citizen gain a place in the collection!
Excellent choices! 😎👍🏼
Great job, Dave!
That nighthawk is iconic. I would love to own one of the eureopean or jdm versions with the atomic radio correction.
I can´t wait for your reviews of the new Orient Makos, I loved the ivory and light blue!
a great list. great pacing too with the video. didn't feel like it was 20 min
That Taucher has a little style I must admit. I've also got the old Escapement Time flieger, mine has the Seiko movement and 300m WR! Its worth noting too that prices for the old Lunar Pilot have plummeted since the new smaller version was released.

Great video. Your idea of $50 a month is more realistic than the usual “build a watch collection for $X000”. Great selections, although you’re much more of a dive watch guy than me. I’m really happy with my collection of a Hamilton Khaki Mechanical, Bulova Lunar Pilot, Seiko Presage SRPB67 “Sinnko”, and a couple Timex’s for beater duty. Maybe when my kids are out of college I’ll splash out on a Sinn or Tudor.
your intro song sounds like the music in a 1980s instruction video. its fire
Can you get any cool watches out of those crazy Japanese vending machines? That could be an interesting episode. Keep up the good work. 👍
U have beautiful collection and this a great system. I'm actually saving up for Seiko cocktail time mojito. 2) First watch a bought was Lacoste fashion quarts watch. It was so cheap and phoney 😂. Learned my lesson and got Seiko 5 next
Excellent video
My Citizen Challenge Diver is my favorite watch. I've owned 3 Omegas and others and this Citizen is the most comfortable by far. Accurate too.
Some very nice watches!!
Would love this approach to a set of vintage watches

I hesitate to mention it but I noticed the sounds of children playing in the background. Good job leaving that in. The sound of happy children is no reason re-record. The voice over was easily understood regardless of atmospheric noise at your location. 👍

Most excellent, Dave. 👏👏👏 ✌️❤️⌚
Not only do I love your watches… but… I love that you have a zune! Mine no longer works sadly.
Cool! I own a few of these already
Nice video, giving a different perspective to the typical “build an X watch collection with Y dollars”…….all solid pics, if it were me doing the list, I’d probably give some consideration to islander watches, I think they are great value for money in their price segment (specifically an islander brookville instead of the seiko dresskx since you would be getting a miyota 9000 series movement). There would definitely be a prx in there, most likely quartz in order to preserve some room in the budget. Finally I might carve out 1000-1500 to get something slightly more refined (maybe a grey market longines, that new hamilton jazz master performer, etc). But that’s just where I’m at with watches today……great work on your pics for this collection
$3000 is a pretty nice budget for an affordable collection. I think I’d go with 5 watches instead of 10 and go with some nicer pieces. Seiko Alpinist SPB117 $750 as an everyday watch. Orient Bambino 38mm $250 as a dress watch. Christopher Ward Trident 300 $1050 for a diver. Dekla Flieger $680 for a pilots watch. Casio G-Shock GWB5600 as a beater.
Great video
Some really nice picks here. I'd add a Laco. The more basic Augsburg models are
Vídeo espectacular Dave.
Thank you for this video im not necessarily going to buy these watches but i respect a video with watches someone who isnt making 100k plus a year can afford.
Best time to buy is Dad/Grad season and Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Got an LP on a bracelet from Amazon for Father's Day for under 350.
Great video. An orange Bulova devil diver 666 for a splash of colour/bling?
Great advice Dave I look at my collection and it’s to much of the same,I’ve spent money on watches and lost a lot on reselling so any advice is greatly appreciated
My perfect watch would be a Protrek Pwr-60 titanium with a sapphire crystal, the newer prw-61 full lume indices and the addition of a sunrise sunset function to the features list. I really like the baranoter and subrise sunset features on casino watches. I use them allot.
I now want all of these watches in this video
Very interesting collection. Glad I was able to learn about brands I wasn't familiar with like Merker, which has some resemblance to Bell & Ross. But am surprised a G shock didn't make the cut. Maybe not your particular taste or I just assume a G shock should be in every collection.
Great video, as always. Off topic, I think I heard your voice on the news 😮

I'm currently on 9 watches, anything over that becomes unmanageable. I took up your recommendation for the baby Triton and bought the pepsi version. This model gets overlooked in favour of the Kamasu but it's a superior watch if you have the wrist to carry it off. I also have a Laco type B flieger which I picked up from an obscure outlet on Amazon UK for half rrp. Sugess 1963 ticks the chrono box for me and for quartz I have a G-shock Rangeman and my Field watch is the obligatory Hamilton Khaki auto 38mm. I'll also mention my Citizen Promaster ny0040 with the full lume dial, superb ISO rated diver with great dimensions and comfort.

lol i have 31 watches i wear a different one daily so they all get worn in the span of a month
Check out Nodus Sector Deep 500. For $575 it has the craziest lume have ever seen. DLC bezel that remind me of sinn U50. They regulate the nh35 movement, it has a left hand drive, a 38mm case with a 42mm bezel. It's insane but it works so well. Mine has been running at cosc. Love to see a review on it. They may send you one in if you ask. Also would love to see you review a Maen Manhattan 37mm if you haven't already.
Good work brother.....I am on tight budget being a single parent
Not sure if this was an assignment, but I got my list ready after much thought. In the order in which they would be purchased, with many of the prices random grey market prices from the internet: 1. Basic bro choice, casio dw 5600. Because I have to start there. $53 2. Tissot prx, 35mm quartz on my 7.5 inch wrist, cause that’s how I roll. $282 3. Islander Brookville two tone. Kinda caual, kinda dressy, I need some gold in this collection. Bonus points for the miyota 9000 movement. $350 4. Seiko gmt solar sumo, black dial, sbpk003. Solid every day sports watch, probably get most of my wrist time. $500 5. Hamilton jazzmaster performer, three hander, black dial on metal bracelet. Looks to be a bit more refined than the others, really like the look, $1,045 6. With the remaining $770 dollars left, try to find a nice vintage Tag 1500/2000 series diver. Always liked those models, but never owned one.

That's another great collection! I like how it's super focused, just great watches and nothing wasted.
I basically did the same thing in this video. Start small, learn your preferences on the cheaper watches and experiment with straps custom made or not. Slowly building your collection to a 12 watch box collection.
In retrospect I would have spent 3000 on an Omega Seamaster "Peter Blake" in black.
At 10:53 watch is so tight on a wrist, that is may stop blood flow :))
The Heinrich gmt 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I love my Bulova. Understated class. Imho. I find it hard to know what a cheap good watch is. But what is an expensive bad watch?
You have the Axios Pathfinder (an outstanding watch and one I own myself) in your end shot, Dave, but not featured in the video. Any reason for that? Given its price, I'd certainly have included it.
@JusttheWatch
Жыл бұрын
Good catch! It was a last minute switch! My Namica Shirahama came in after I had already started filming and decided to go with that instead of the Pathfinder for this collection. They're both great watches, but the Pathfinder is hard to find these days so I thought the Shirahama would be a little better to show.
Nice selection Dave. One of these days Wise are bound to release a GMT. I'm waiting until I see that dial, but the AD8 is fantastic. I dislike the Kamasu bezel insert, so I swapped the bezel. The replacement accepts flat SKX inserts. So many options 🙂 (Red dial, stainless w black Arabics, red pip) The AC0K accepts aftermarket bracelets intended for the previous model Triton. Given the standard of Orient bracelets, it can be good to know. BLP but no Square? Sacre Bleu!
The only surprising thing is that I just found out that HQ of Wise Watch is practically near my house, I mean I can bike to its place, and yes, I just heard about this brand, even I'm Thai
I probably wear my Orient Raven as much as my Seamaster. I always recommend Orient.
How can i order them bc i am in Europe i thought amazon Japan delivers only there
The heinrich black textured dial, with its embossed pattern dial look a lot like the last samurai and king turtle Padi, or is it just me.
Seiko 5 is stupidily good the build quality is honestly really good for the money
I know im late to the party, but what is the strap for the Bulova?
With that budget, you can have 4 high quality watches. Such as, 1 metal gshock sport watch 1 seiko/orient/citizen daily use diving watch 1 hamilton jazzmaster open heart casual smart watch 1 swiss dress swatch
I almost hate myself for saying it, it is such a captain obvious thing to say, but that Lunar Pilot really needs to be released in a 39-41mm range case. I would sell my flightmaster in a heartbeat to have that. Even if it didn't come with a super high accuracy quartz.
@JusttheWatch
Жыл бұрын
I don't think they can actually make it that small without swapping to a different movement. I opened mine up t change the battery, and the movement basically fills the whole 45mm case. I heard with the new ones they managed to slim down the case to 43mm, but the dial is still the same size. I suspect 43mm is probably the smallest case that movement will fit in.
You should check the san martin flieger, its better than escaping time
I feel I've only been collecting Citizen watches. I own 6 of them and I really want a Seiko divers Pepsi watch.
Hi Dave!
Lunar Pilot and Galaxy Watch 4 for everyday, Mohito for dress, Garmin Instinct for sport and labor
Off subject but would appreciate your opinion. What’s with this “comeback” of two-tone watches? Why are they picking up steam now? Thanks for your valuable time. (BTW: You put together great video’s, great content and excellent points that are very meaningful).
Falta un 62 MAS en esa colección 😊
No one in titanium? I would keep the Citizen Navihawk, and the Bulova Lunar Pilot
