A nice first reaction! Oh boy, you are going to be bombarded by her fans called Angels that will fill you in on this music prodigy with an old soul from Norway. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Even though she has been compared by many to Amy Winehouse, her major influence is Billie Holiday. Other influences are Dinah Washington, Louis Armstrong, and Etta James to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. In 2014, she entered at age 7 and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, " Wow, what a rendition!" For Queen to respond to someone covering one of their songs is quite a feat since they rarely react to anyone . Not only that, but she received the copyrights for her version of this song from Queen, which makes it hers now. She did not win, but her fan base grew and expanded her popularity. I watch almost all (some pause way too often and talk way too much for my liking) and if I were to become a patreon of all of them just to hear their thoughts on AJ I would be spending a LOT of money.

There is so much to explore with AJ. Over 200 opportunities are out there. You certainly need to check out Angelina's most current work. But don't deprive yourself of the opportunity to witness 7/8 year old Angelina in Norway's Got Talent, her concert performances at the age of 10, or her at home videos done at 11 and 12 with only a guitar accompaniment. What you just listened to came after many great performances before this appearance. I'm sure that others will already have recommended her rendition of "I Put a Spell on You" recorded shortly after she turned 9!

Watched Angelina for 8+ years. She has compete control of her tone texture and colour of voice. She learned this by taking on the songs of all the great vocalists. Non of her family are musicians or vocalists. If you see the clip of her as an 18 month old baby with a kareoke mike, the family spotted her talent and perfect pitch early. Grandma Meri also a famous child prodigy poet and painter gave insight in how to support her prodigious talent. The family only signed with Republic Records at 14 with the proviso they could not push her out till she finished school, and allowed unprecedented artistic control . A&R (Artists and repertoire) Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California is Angelina's A&R person, and he has been working with AJ since she signed with the largest record company in the world at the age of 14, three years ago. Rob was the MC of AJ Christmas Show that aired Dec 23, of 21. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years, and toured with Barbara Streisand, accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. She is now 17 but will be 18 on the 10th January. She is signed to Republic Records and brought out her first EP in August it is absolutely amazing. Consists of 6 original songs. I have been following her for a long time and I am so proud of her she has worked so hard from such a young age and deserves every blessing that comes her way. She is also a very caring and genuine young lady. Speaks four languages, and plays the piano and guitar 2other instruments, which I am not sure if she still uses them you all if I remember correctly flute and violin. I am so proud of her. I am sure I have not told you everything about her but one of her Angels will pass on more. Enjoy your reactions blessings from a 77 year old gran from South Africa.

Angelina Jordan is a story telling vocalist. That breathy, a cappella beginning just drew us all right in. Knowing she only had so many minutes, she zeroed in on Freddie Mercury and the heart of the story. I have never loved a female voice as much as I love hers. She moves my heart every. single. time. Thanks for your reaction! She is only 17 years old today and from Norway. She signed with the label Republic Records just 14 years old, I think we can safely leave the promotion to Republic Record. Marketing will start when her full album is released later this year. There's only one EP with 6 songs she's released from RR now, and they haven't started marketing until the full album is released!. Republic Records know 100% what they are doing? I think a lot of people don't realize how much Angelina has done in her short life (17). She performed FIFA AWARD song, and performed in front of 40 000 people only 11 years old invited by Norah Jones. She was also specially invited by Quincy Jones to perform on his 85th birthday in the O2 arena / London. And so on goes the list... She has over 250 songs on KZread with cover songs and many originals. Angelina also plays piano and guitar. The truth is that within a year or two she will be the artist for the big occasions. and not a "bare belly plastic artist" who tops a list for a week and is forgotten just as quickly. She already eats most female vocalists for breakfast, and the label Republic Records and the rest of the music industry know that too! Angelina Jordan has nothing to prove. When she sometimes belts is it because the fits in the performances. She sings to us only she can do! Angelina recently had a sold-out concert in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where there was an audience from 9 different country all the way from Australia and from 39 different states in the USA.

Ahh, the Angels (AJ's fans) have found you! The are a very loyal and dedicated group who will beguile you with stories of her decade old career and her studious pursuit of music from the time she was caught singing Whitney Houston song in her crib at age 18 months. You may have caught on that she is a native Jazz singer but you will find that she has sung most genres of music and sounded like a pro in each one. Wonderful reaction and analysis. Angelina and her music have provided HOPE in my life. I never cried to any song before I heard Angelina's original "Million Miles". I tear up often to dozens of performances by Angelina. Please read the bio I compiled for my all time favorite ARTist. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on KZread. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. *Why Angelina always performs barefoot* At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Musicians working with Angelina would call her the boss since she knew exactly how she wanted to sing the song and would confidently instruct the musicians. While one could say Angelina was mimicking other artists, there is no doubt she had her own style and created her own arrangements, even at this early age. Angelina was near her 8th birthday for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition to trim the number of vocalists who passed their audition, and was not performed in front of an audience. Gerry Slattman is Angelina’s adoptive father, not her biological father. Juliette is her half sister, thus the reason for the different last names. None of this makes any difference, really, but please do get your facts straight before stating them as being the truth when they are not. Gerry and Sara are now divorcing so the truth about Angelina’s parentage will become a matter of public record for anyone who is interested in or cares about this sort of thing. Most of her fans couldn’t care less how she got here, just that she’s a very special human being and needs to be left to the “Shield” of her family as she finishes maturing into the wonderful artist and humanitarian that is her destiny!

Cole, vocally and artistically she is on a different level than most but there is more than that to her. As you listened to her version of Bohemian Rhapsody did you feel something going on inside you? Yep, that was your heart reacting to her. Why isn't she recognized already as an incredibly talented artist? Well, millions of people know her but her career jump to reach the masses via albums, Concerts, radio, etc., has been on hold for 10 years so that she can complete her education and live a life as a normal young girl growing up. Another words the family has sheltered her. Well she just presented us with an EP to be followed very soon with a complete album (with all original music). Originally from Norway the family moved to Los Angeles before the pandemic and she just had her first USA Concert in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, in a very intimate Music Hall (seats 875). To give you an idea of her following (of course the Concert was Sold Out) people from 37 States and 9 Countries made up part of the audience. Does she have a particular genre? Angelina is not just a great singer and arranger she has been writing songs since she was 10 years old - So far 12 have been released: Oslo, What is Life?, Shield, Million Miles, 7th Heaven, Love Don't Let Me Go, Now I'm The Fool, Fire and Rain, All My Fault, Good in Goodbyes, Diamond, and Our Time. Angelina has stated that she has written about 100 songs that have yet to be released. Her songs are taken from her Journal writings. When she was 10/11 she rewrote the Lyrics to Amy Winehouse's Back to Black and Rehab to make them more age-appropriate at that time.

I discovered AJ with her rendition of Stay. In that she was 12. This one she is 13 as you know. If you want nonbreathy go straight for I Put a Spell on You when she was 9 or one of my very faves which she did at 11 called Loving You where she changes the lyrics to suit her age. She released another album several months ago, and it's wonderful. Before I suggest a cover she does, and it's probably one of my favorites by her......you have to listen to her when she was 7 or 8 singing “I Put a Spell On You,” or “Fly Me To The Moon.” Trust me you will be in awe. The "other" judge is Alesha Dixon, a singer/rapper who was formerly a member of Mis-Teeq, a 3-girl group along the lines of TLC which was formed in London around the turn of the century. Why does Angelina sing barefooted? Angelina Jordan is known as "The Barefoot Princess" or "The Barefoot Princess of Jazz," amongst many other names. She always performs barefooted, whether in front of a live audience or during a studio performance. The story is that while living in the Middle East, at 6 years old, Angelina came across an orphaned girl, of her own age, sitting in the street, weighing people on a bathroom scale to earn money. Angelina said to herself, "I would like to share her life for one second to know what it is like to sit alone, wet, and damp, and barefoot in a corner of the street." Angelina could see the girl's bare feet were scarred and that it was cold outside, so she offered her own shoes to the girl. Little Angelina says that she really loved her shoes, as they were very nice and she knew she would miss them. But she saw the other little girl’s need for them, which outweighed her own desire to keep them. So she insisted the little girl take them. Angelina called her Princess, even though the girl said she didn't live in a castle, but the ruins of a building next to where she sat. After sharing their hopes and dreams, the little girl said of Angelina's wish to sing for the world, "You will become the one you dream of and when your dreams come true, you have to remember the poor children without shoes; and I will pray for you Angelina.” Later that day, 6 y/o Angelina wrote in her diary, "The world is very strange. Right then and there, I felt as if a door in my heart opened up, and it was filled with lots of lights. It was as if there was, from Earth to Heaven, a staircase. I climbed the stairs. To be able to do something for another human - it was such a big thing…hard to describe really.” From that point on, Angelina takes off her shoes, in honor of ‘Princess’ and all the other less fortunate children of the world, who are orphaned, hungry, or in want of even basic clothing. In 2015, at the age of 9, Angelina wrote a book about the encounter, as everyone continued to ask why she sang barefoot. Her grandmother, Mery Zamani, created the artwork for the book. So at 9, Angelina Jordan became the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina has performed alongside many other artists, raising attention and helping to raise over 21 million euros and millions of dollars for children in need.

If you really want to know more about Angelina's singing, the best is to first go back and watch her 4 performances on NGT when she was 7 and won when she was 8. After listening to all of Ms. Jordan’s body of works, (200+ recordings, 400+ performances) over the last five months, including multiple performances at different ages, venues and genres, and her original composition, I’ve concluded that Ms. Jordan is on par with Mr. Enrique Caruso. She has repeatedly demonstrated her ability to emotively communicate, through her unique tones and phrasings, that which is universal in all of us. I’ve also concluded that Ms. Jordan will rival and surpass Mr. Cole Porter’s body of works, numbering over 800+, in the coming decades. It has been reported that there are 100 original works in the vault, enough to create ten LPs.
