Great to see you back Mandy. The NHS is by no means perfect, but they are really thorough and to be able to entrust yourself to them is a privilege. I’ve had some experience and know now that it’s best to be an open book to the pros and leave any dignity or coyness at the door on the way in!😮 Good to see you looking so well, and long may it continue😊

My chemo was horrendous and it turned out I was violently allergic so after one session I was switched to radiation which while not a stroll in the park, is more manageable. I had brachytherapy also and it was manageable. Keep your chin up. Big hugs from the queen of side effects ❤️

You’re being so brave. Hope you’re resting as much as you’re able to. Just want to comment that my pain along with side effects to meds give me rosy cheeks so lots of people think I look (and feel) really well when actually I’m not. Sometimes I can find that a bit frustrating!…..I hope the gel works and makes you a bit more comfortable also the meds to help that awful reflux. You’ll soon be through the other side of this really rotten time. Remember how amazing you are every day and sharing your experience is helping so many people. Thank you.

You definitely look a lot better. Cancer treatment may save our lives but it can be brutal. I have very sensitive skin so had awful burns with my radiotherapy for my breast cancer. I have gotten so used to whipping my boobs out after my treatment and now going through reconstructive surgery. I honestly have never been man handled as much in my life. I felt really self conscious at first but now it doesn’t bother me. I hope the rest of your treatment is as side effect free as possible. Every day is a day closer to the end of treatment and then you can focus on recovery and enjoying life again x

Sorry to hear you’ve been feeling so rough, surprised you had to wait so long in A&E as they usually push people with chest pain straight through. I had to completely strip off my top half for radiotherapy and it’s not nice no matter how nice they are, the things we have to tolerate to be well. Bet working that shift helped mentally even thought it tired you out, keep going as you will get to the end of this. Hugs to both you and John💚

Hi Mandy glad your feeling a little better, i only had 1 10hr chemo session then 5 days at home with a chemo bag attached to my pic line, it all got cancelled due to the pandemic after that so my only option was radiotherapy 35 days of it sometimes twice a day, i also suffered from reflux had to prop myself up in bed as well, but luckily lanzaprazole was prescribed & ive not had it since its a life saver as my throat was on fire, i was also told a small amount of ginger ale helps little sips , theres lots of little sypmtoms of minor issues but in time there ease good luck with your journey & thanks for sharing x

Hi Mandy. Your updates are inspiring for other women. I'm not going through cemo. But I do get the symptoms you were displaying. The hospital told me that I was experiencing symptoms of Costochondritis. It's inflammation where your ribs join your breast bone, causing very sharp pain. Your chest muscles go into spasm. As all your muscles are connected it also causes the muscles in your jaw to spasm which causes pain...It does truly feel like your having a heart attack. I find the thing that helps me the most is Buscopan from the chemist..The pain is horrendous. Love Sue❤

So good to see you looking and sounding much better Mandy. I am relieved to hear the chemo has stopped as I did think that to have both chemo & radiation all at the same time was a hell of a lot for your body to endure and not surprising you were having such a rough time. It's all trial and error until they get the right mix for you as everybody is different. I know from when my dad was on dialysis, he went through an initial period of struggles until finally, they got the balance of drugs and treatment right for him and finally he started to respond positively and feel better. As always, appreciate the update, be careful not to overdo things if you feel a bit better, easier said than done I know.

Hi Mandy, good to see you looking so well. Just a quick line, I had chemotherapy and brachytherapy a few months back, the brachy was a doddle. Everyone was so kind and helpful and saved my blushes. The treatment itself is very quick and before you know it you are out the door. Much less fuss than radiotherapy. I agree that it's nice to do some 'normal' things like working, I managed to keep going while I was being treated. Keep on going - loved hearing about the bite me tattoo!
