    Thank you for this easy diy idea! I have a moisture meter for our veggie garden which is kept on the other side of our property from where my succulents are. I think I will make these to use for my succulents! Quick question, does it need to be absorbent paper or would washi tape work?

  • @SucculentFame

    @SucculentFame

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi, Yavonna! Yes, it needs to be absorbent paper. Most washi tapes are water-resistant, thus they are not likely to pick up moisture. They might not give you an accurate reading. They would have been convenient, right? With the sticky side? Unless they are made of absorbent material, I think they might not be as good. This is a very good question. Thank you for asking. I really appreciate it. More blessings to you, your family and all your endeavors. ❤️🙏🌈

    Hi Sheila 🙂 as mentioned before, my succulents flourished with all the rain we had this season. First day of frost is Oct 15 for my area. I'll be bringing them in the house at that time, as they are just too pretty. I'm determined they will survive! With weather beginning to turn now, I'm not watering and it's not raining so much. I'm trying to help them keep acclimated. I read only to water them once lightly in 3 or 4 months, over the winter. Hope all is well with you! Love and blessings

    Hello, Gina! My biggest apologies for the very late response. I'm not even sure how I didn't get a notification for this comment. I really try to respond as soon as I can. I had to filter and look for messages that didn't have any response just so I can find them. Fall and winter is a time when we don't have to worry about them going thirsty, which I think is less stressful time for me, as a succulent plants mom. 😊 It is in these months when we can just look at them and admire their beauty and not have to do anything for weeks and months. (there were winters when I didn't water for a whole months, except for the indoor once.) Just remember, if your heaters are set on really warm, watering interval would still be a bit shorter. 😄 Thank you so much for the comment. I really appreciate it! More blessings to you! ❤🙏🌈

  • @SucculentFame

    @SucculentFame

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi! I think the difference in the color of grow lights is not very significant. What matters more is the surface area that it needs to cover. One thing to consider is the number of succulents that you need to put under it. Here is a link to a grow light that you might want to consider. amzn.to/34xFayr My apologies for the super late response. I really appreciate your patience. I can get so busy. And the fact that I don’t get notification when people would respond to MY question is not helping. (I do ask questions when I need more information about people’s inquiry.) Liked and subscribed! Great video ... u seem like such a wonderfully thoughtful girl... I’ve only recently gotten into exotic plants, and managed to fill my house up as soon as the garden centres over here (Ireland) reopened... but the one thing I keep forgetting to pick up is a moisture meter 😩 meanwhile, I’ve been using a chopstick, but I always wind up sticking my fingers in .. and I’m never sure ... and I’m a massive overwaterer ... like , I’m actually sitting here watching your video with a succulent (my first ever) that I bought only last week at a supermarket , uprooted , with a couple of it’s leaves on the floor next to it 😢 how I killed it so quickly, I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ I guess I haven’t got a handle on this plant stuff yet , but I need to learn fast , as I bought twelve last week alone, and one of them is over 6ft in height 🙃 looking forward to watching the rest of your videos.. sorry for the essay lol

    Hi, Caroline! I love long comments! I hope you’re getting the hang of it by now...I mean, with your succulents. Wow! Exotic plants...I wonder if you have a Venus Fly Trap? I have always been fascinated with those, but I never really got to own one. I hope your newly bought succulents are still alive, especially the 6ft one. That’s big! Huge apologies for the late response. I’ve been incredibly busy. I’m really hoping to find time to make more videos soon. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I’m looking to buy a new laptop ‘cause I’m not able to use my current one for editing. 😅 I’m also sloooooowly trying to catch up on responding to comments. @@SucculentFame hiya 😆 the 6ft plant isn’t a succulent lol , it’s a bonsai , palm tree looking thing (I can’t remember what it’s called lol) it’s dropping leaves left right and centre, and atm it has a load of Christmas lights shoved up in it 😆 The succulent I’d uprooted when I wrote the last comment is still clinging to life ( barely 🤣) but it’s having octuplets tbf .. she probably wants to bail 🤣 I also got a few more really cool succulents and crazy looking cacti (which I’ve also hung Christmas decorations on) the cacti are great for keeping my super bold cat Satan away from the “dangerous if consumed” plants I bought before knowing anything about them (which I’ve stopped doing... kind of 🤣) Thank u for mentioning Venus flytraps btw! I’d completely forgotten about those, and I love all things wild and weird, so I’ve got one on click and collect waiting for me - which I’ll probably go get on Sunday -so excited- I should probably watch a few videos about them first though 😆 Anyways- thanks so much for the lovely response, looking forward to seeing your new videos when you’re not up the walls ( I know the feeling) Wishing u and yours a wonderful Christmas from across the pond 😁😃🎄

I love watching videos on plants and learning more about each plant. I slightly overwatered one of my succulents but I now know how to avoid that 😊

    Thank you for answering. 1. My soil mix contains cinder (50%) ,sand (10%) , pumice (20%) and garden soil (20%). I can clearly see that my soil is very gritty. Is this is cause of killing the tender roots of succulents ? 2. Jul and aug were quite humid months in delhi. I watered once a week. Now its pleasant (very less humid) and sunny here (temp 28-31) . I am still watering once a week. Pls suggest
