Yes, they do offer them tea and biscuits. By being nice and polite it puts suspects off their guard and that's when they slip up and let things out that let you know which direction to go with your questioning. Nothing much to do with the TV cameras as all the cells and custody areas have cameras anyway (unlike Mr Epstein's corridor).

In some languages this is logical: the man is agreeing with the customs officer's statement, so he says "Yes". It is like in the old song "Yes, We Have No Bananas". In the UK it is the opposite. A British person in exactly the same situation would say "No".

Port entry seems more logical or less risky to me. Airports seem super tight due to terrorism and any smugglers or smuggling caught seems like small fish or opportunists. The big players likely have established and relatively safe routes from law enforcement, or simply do several and write off losses with ease. After all, drugs somehow get by or through and someone makes a profit.

@@fayezentner619 That’s not good. About ten years ago, we were coming back from Wyoming, I forgot I had bottled water in my purse, it wasn’t opened but the guy who was at the checkpoint, he was cool at first, saying hi to me and my hubby, it’s a small airport, he opens my purse and pulls out the water bottle and showed it to me and his whole demeanor changed, he just gave me this glare and I said, Omg! I forgot it was in my purse, sorry! He just tossed it in the trash and told us to move on... I felt scolded just by the look on his face! Luckily he didn’t throw away my little bag of M&Ms 😂

I am deathly afraid of all customs/immigration staff even if I would never dare break the rules. I always feel I will have something stupid, like a half-eaten apple or pack of chewing gum (illegal in Singapore) I don't know how people can act so defiant, even arrogant

Right? When I travel by plane I'm always so nervous about EVERYTHING (not mentioning the fact that I travel by myself most of the time) and I have thousand scenarios of what could go wrong in my head or "What if I forgot about smth in my bag? What if I packed smth you can't? What if..." lol. At this point I'm surprised they never stopped me for being suspicious (out of nervosity). :D
