UDO Super 6 Synthesizer - 1st Look Sonic LAB

Ғылым және технология

U.D.O. Audio are just down the road from us in Bristol, we've been hoping to get them in to show the new Super 6 Synthesizer - a 12 voice (FPGA oscillators) Binaural synthesizer, with analog VCF and VCA with a stereo audio patch and some interesting new concepts in stereo imaging. Each voice has 2 oscillators, including wavetables, plus high speed and keyboard tracking LFO. Binaural mode halves the voice count to 6, but the stereo width and movement is really lovely to behold.
Designer George Hearn came over to show us as the first batch of cases are in production and they put the last few pieces of the firmware together for release early next year

He himself is surprised by the sonic territories he manages to reach with his machine. And watch Nick's face: he's ecstatic! This synth will be in my studio soon. It’s written and inevitable ❤️

George has been around for a long time. He has been selling very nice clones of things like SSM 2040 filters for at least 10 years now. Also OSC's and EG's. His stuff has been used in the modular world by various companies a long time now. He knows his analogue design. I have used his clones previously in my own stuff. George is a good dude.

@@smoothoscillator1 The hydrasynth has a complex mod matrix, and a lot of options for modulation, that can take it to places where this wont go. But this has the binural mode, and with that offers a sound that is big, with movement, without going deep in a mod matrix, paging through parameters. Neither would be impossible to mimic closely in software. But this has a control panel that makes it easy to program, where the hydrasynth has a lot of menu digging, with long parameter list, that would actually gain a better overview as drop-down on a computer screen. (I think I would rather program the Hydrasynth from a VST, and it would be cool, if they could add parameter assign, so that in a live situation, one button press on the quick keys would take the user to a set of assigned parameters)

The breadth of sounds from this are amazing! Quality, ultra clean, yet organic. The layout looks great. The sounds though, is another level. It feels-sounds like every component along the signal path is deeply considered. It's a sonic occupier... a dominator or both frequency and attention. I may have 20 + synths but damn it, this feels like one that does something unique and special.

This synth appears to fill in all the gaps that were left at the end of the vintage analog era and stretch them out in resolution in a way that tells your brain, this is the best sound you ever Hearned. This will sit very nicely along side my very old but lovely Kurzweil K2500. I wouldn't hesitate to put any of my vintage analog or modern modellers along side it as, this machine will make textures they couldn't possibly compete with. From the demo videos, it seems like one of the most important musical instruments in many years. Like a Fender Stratocaster (Super duper mega custom) of keyboards. About time! Rock and roll.

I really love this binaural "stereo oscillators" approach to get a very lush stereo sound. With that, along with its digital wavetables, analog amps and filters, it's like a reincarnation of the Ensoniq SQ-80.

Would love to hear this without the delays and long release. Sounds great though, I can't afford it but it seems worth the price.

ABSOLUTELY EPIC - this monster synth is its own eco system, it is the future, the past, the new unique and it's own frame of reference. AMAZING!
