UDO Audio - Super 6 workshop @SchneidersLaden

Музыка

George from UDO Audio presented their new synthesizer Super 6 in a workshop at SchneidersLaden. Enjoy the exploration of this fine instrument and the excellent jam session.
The Super 6 is a 12-voice polyphonic, binaural hybrid synthesizer. It is flexible, powerful and refined with a gorgeous analog sound character. Rich and evolving textures can easily be created via the Super-Wavetable core. The results are shapeable using the binaural analog signal path and the flexible modulation system. All in all a very interesting synthesizer for all kinds of electronic music.

At the end I kept a single synth from behringer only (td3 maffez mod) as build quality was crappy and knobs/sliders usually too small. However I will give ubxa or b-monopoly another try.

Beautiful demo! At first I thought 'What?! No Reverb?!', but it seems the binaural feature and phasing lead to a very spatious sound that does not specially need a reverb. Very interesting synth, way above my current budget sadly, but one to keep an eye on. It would be the blue livery for me :-). The improvisation of Georges is a pleasure to listen too. I appreciate the choice of no screen, it forces the developers to think carefully the front panel. Four octaves does not seem to limit him achieving amazing highs and lows. Anyway, this synth must be a joy to play and discover.

Wow! Timothy Scott's comments here raised some heat. My observation on UDO Super 6 is about how man of mystery George does the same KZread presentations. When Nick Batt gets his hands on this synth, we will finally discover if it does oscillator sync, ring mod, makes massive bass like a Minimoog and of course PWM. It's great tease marketing, if that's UDO's plan. So far, it seems sort of like a pared down Novation Summit with superior hardware. Maybe a better analogue filter?

  • @zookiebudeck3428

2 digital O's and you expect a massive Moogie Bass Sound…🙄 Don't know why everyone is expecting this sound when a new synth arrives on the planet...🙈 U.D.O. is more Rolandish! George sad this in another interview. You may realize this also on their used names (Company & Synth) and all the other demos. And don’t get me wrong, I like sonicstate and what they do. But I think you have to understand the Super 6 as an instrument what you put under your armpit, arrive on stage and take the audience and yourself on to a journey. Knowing where it started but never know when and where it ends… I think or better hope that the Super 6 is the best combination of both worlds: analogue and digital, where you perform live with instantly produced sounds. Can’t wait to put my hands on it. You can build your sounds on the fly without hours of menue diving. That might be the reason to have a synth without a display. And the sound is IMHO fantastic. You have to give this synth e.g. Jack Duxbury from Andertons. Leave him alone for one hour and see or better hear what he does. Nick from sonicstate is more the tech guy. For me not really necessary for a decision about the Super 6. Read the specs, put your hands on it and you will find out that there are Pitch-Modulation, OscSync, Crossmodulation (FM) and PWM for Osc2 and many many more 😉 And yes, here is George. But not from Bristol, from Germany 😁

@@zookiebudeck3428 That's the brilliant thing with KZread gear reviews, you get many different takes. At this point Super 6 is unfinished, so UDO may think it too soon to have reviews. That said, I'm not convinced this is the synth for me, plus I already have mostly Roland gear. Maybe an FM synth such as Kodamo , Yamaha MODX or even Elektron Digitone. Thanks for commenting and Happy New Year.

Great instrument, I think I´ll buy one. Love the Juno-esque panel. Only critique would be regarding the keys; they overlap the casing and have ugly looking grey bars left and right - they could have been integrated more smoothly into the casing. And 5 octaves would be perfect for a synth like this, with a focus on playability... bit of a shame it only has 4 octaves.

You have any recommendations for a synth keyboard...I like to rap and sing so so, so simple melodies is my fit rn. I like vintage sounds. Saw a video of the hydra synth too..... looking for good sounds.
