Congratulations Glenda, your success story sounds a lot like mine. I drastically limited my eating of starch, grains, processed oils, carbs, and sugar and I could see and feel the difference within 1-2 weeks. My very next visit to the doctor's office (4 months later), I had lost weight and I was no longer classified as a type-2 diabetic (off the Metformin). My Blood Pressure was in the normal range as well; first time in 35 years. It was not as easy as I thought it would be giving up most of what I ate on a daily basis but I have been successful. I wish you continued success. Good luck!

I can guarantee you that reversing Type II diabetes is possible...because I did it! I am a 58 yr old male who weighted 247 lbs last Feb when I started dieting. I now weigh 182 lbs and I'm on my way to a target of 168 lbs ("normal" for my height). I visited my Dr last week and had lab work done. My labs were normal WITHOUT meds ( I dropped them all, AMA, last April, so my latest labs were a solid baseline.) Let this be a word of encouragement to all of you...Type II diabetes can be defeated!!!

This is great to hear, i have lived a very interesting life full of all the things you shouldn't do, I am 47 years old and am 300 pounds, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes 4 days ago. I immediately asked my doctor if this was reversible and he said sure but you will need to make some huge lifestyle and dietary changes. I said done! And from that moment I have not touched any of the bad foods, zero sugar zero processed meat or starch and carbs. Keto diet for now. I have a young daughter and this is a huge kick in the ass for me! My goal is to get down to 200 pounds. I know I will do it! I dont have a choice, the alternative is too much to think about. Best of luck with your journeys! J

I created my own diet based on my illness. I combined 4 diets in one - first fastening 2 meals a day, second low carbs under 40 grams a day. third - meat proteins diner with green vegetables or a salad. fourth one hour and a half walking every day. I m doing that for the last 4 months. I lost 75 pounds and my insulin is down to 10 units per day. I hope to get to 180 pounds in 4 months and that my insulin need will be gone. While dieting, I tried to stop insulin a few days but it wouldn't work my blood sugar is still twice what it should be. I'm happy just with the mobility, the energy, the happiness gained.

Perhaps the best thing has been my constant curiosity about causes of chronic illnesses plaguing our society. I was more than 100 lbs overweight and pre-diabetic at age 19. I continued to follow the advice to eat a “balanced” diet and exercise, yet kept getting fatter and more unhealthy. At age 20, against the advice of the medical establishment, I began a low-carb, high fat diet. Typical daily meals: Breakfast: 4 egg, tomato, bacon and avocado omelette Lunch: (real) Caesar salad with sautéed shrimp Afternoon snack: strawberries and homemade almond butter Dinner: 16 oz prime rib with sautéed mushrooms and Boursin mashed cauliflower. After a year of that, I had lost 100 pounds and my metabolic profile looked like that of a professional athlete. Everyone I know who’s gone keto has a similar story. This therefore begs the question: Why, if this diet is so effective and conducive to good health, and can in fact cure diabetes and metabolic syndrome, is it not the standard treatment for all such patients? Could it be because the pharmaceutical industry and the medical establishment has a vested interest to the tune of tens of billions of dollars a year in keeping people sick, thereby ensuring a large and growing market for their dubious treatments? Hmm...

I feel inspired every time I watch one of your videos! I was told last November 2020 that I have T2D and I’m working to learn how to deal with and cure my diabetes, and I feel the more I watch your teaching the more I learn how to succeed. Thanks for sharing this wisdom. I’m 68 years old and I’ve been a vegetarian most of my life. But obviously my diet has been less than stellar. I’m going to keep trying and after watching this video and the emphasis on my diet I think it’s time to bite the bullet and throw away most of my pantry. I need to really start focusing on my diet. Thanks, and I’ll keep watching.

Just to support what has been said in this video, my A1C was 9, and by fixing my diet within 6 month I lowered it to 5.6. I was asked to use insulin and I refused, my doctor was unhappy to hear that. After getting my A1C results, the doctor was shocked about how I managed to improve my numbers without a medication! My advice is to keep checking your blood sugar regularly and correct your diet. You will see improvements within weeks.

Hello Dr Berry, I have been lingering for several years as a prediabetic, then about 3 weeks ago my A1-c was 6.9. I immediately began eliminating the high carb foods and taking notes from your videos and refining the diet as I learned more. So far I have lost about 10 pounds. One interesting observation I made today was while I was writing a check and signing my full name on a document. For several years I’d noticed it was getting harder to sign my name and write in cursive. I was losing control of the pen. Today I signed a document and wrote and signed the check with ease. I’d like to think it is a benefit of detoxifying my body! Great work you are doing!

Keto definitely done it for me. That advice definitely saved me keep up the great work our nhs in the uk could use all more doctors like yourself cheers.

This is the very first video that put me on the path to reclaiming my health. I WAS 315 lbs, T2D, chronically fatigued, tingly hands, red flakey patches on my face, always sore joints, dizzy, depressed, easy to irritate, and just in general felt like death every single day I woke up. 1 year later from keto for 8 months and 4 months of low carb (between 40 - 80 grams of fibrous carbs a day (and 1 kiwi) I am down 80-90lbs (fluctuates) and no longer anything on that list above. I also intermittent fast every day for 18 - 20 hours as that is key with the diet. It angers me and saddens me that nobody bats an eye about my accomplishments, especially when I say "I'm no longer a diabetic". Like...what? I thought it was "chronic and progressive"? Anyways, keep on saving people, even if it's not as many as one would hope. 1 life saved is 1 life changed forever. Thank you.

You need 4 things to get back on the horse, RetiredBadge: 1. Intermittent Fasting. 2. Water. 3. A Ketogenic menu. 4. Vitamins & Minerals. I strive for OMAD (One Meal A Day) but most often I run 2 keto meals a day. First meal I load my green veggies & avocado with some bacon. I like dipping mushrooms in cream cheese, or cauliflower in pesto sauce. I then add some protein, like a burger without the bun, or some tuna, salmon or shellfish. On my second meal, I eat a little less protein & I take my vitamin stack. The first meal is more of a meal for the gut bacteria, the second meal is to keep me asleep through the nite. Best of luck.

My insulin has down decreased by 220 units for long range insulin and I have completely stopped the short ranged insulin at meals ( another 180 units decreased). The greatest thing is just in December alone I have lost 26lbs. :) Dr. Berry is a great encouragement and gives me an incentive to keep on keeping on.

OMGOODNESS! I love your plain speaking. You are the first person and MD who has told me that it is WHAT I eat regardless of excuses. If I want to die early - ignore what you've said OR - listen, act and LIVE. Thank you. I really appreciate your videos, they are clear, concise and full of information. You should be the first person people diagnosed with Pre diabetes or Type 2 diabetes should watch. I was pre diabetic and had a fatty liver 15 years ago, no one thought it was a problem, no advice given. Fast forward 13 years and I'm Type 2 diabetic and again no one is horribly concerned as I control it( my AC1 is 7) through diet. Now I realise I'm killy myself! I have never commented before and have sat on the fence regarding the keto diet. Keto starts after I've watched your other videos. NOW. I am also donating what I can as I want your message out there so people, regular everyday people, can understand what they're doing to themselves. Thank you!

Dr.Berry, Thank you for the bottom of my heart for your time, knowledge and amazing 🤩 information. So genuine and greatly appreciated!!!! My dad had heart disease, had open heart surgery at 36 and developed adult on see diabetes as an adult later in his life. Long story made short, these particular issues you discussed completely freak me out so “knowledge does empower “ you and taking responsibility for your own health is key. Emotional issues need to be acknowledged and dealt with in order to achieve success. Again, thank you! 😊🙏😊

I'm 68 and by restricting carbs I went from 235 lbs to 175 in a year. Walking 6 miles a day helps too... Going in to get A1C checked today.

Thank goodness I have watched you. I have been listening to all my doctors for years after I had an aortic dissection. Kidney damage, high blood pressure, anxiety, fatigue, weak, swelling and legs in pain if I stand too long. Moving helps me. I have had the A1C levels hovering around 5.6. I went in this week and it was 8. Sending me a prescription today. Says it will probably have stomach pains and diarrhea. I admit I have not followed my diet in the last month so I know I’m eating wrong. Changing as we speak. Thank you again.

Dr. Berry I just want to thank you for your videos. You've opened my eyes to health, real health. My father was told he has diabetes yesterday. (I don't know how he was diagnosed with one blood draw not fasted but I digress) I am using your videos to help the both of us understand and what he needs to do to fix himself. Do doctors still make house calls? LOL We need YOU!!
