theoretically you could add more magnets to that detector, dial the speed up a little and it'll be far more responsive with starting/stopping. Because it'll reduce the detection delay from an entire rotation.

This is awesome! Here's a few small ideas for tweaking this setup: Secondary shoulder buttons installed in the form of grips, which are installed in your backpack to stimulate holding the packages for balance. Downward- Pulling strap that can be adjusted based on how much weight Sam has on his back. The heavier the load, the more pressure is pulled down to stimulate the weight you're carrying in- game. A waist guard that keeps you standing up to some degree for safety. Shoulder-controlled turning system. When you turn your shoulders about 15 or so degrees left or right, it activates the camera directions by a small threshold, or 25 for a larger one. Adjustable, of course, for comfort. Action buttons connected to the treadmill, itself, rather than using the controller. Maybe even fashioned to resemble an arcade machine?

  • @taylorgibson4343

Hey if you ever want to revisit this, i think a better approach would be to leave the lft stick and pressing it forward makes the character move like normal HOWEVER it also causes the treadmilll to move, and sprinting causes it to move faster.

Their Wii Fit board barely counts cause you can just repeatedly lean left and right to simulate walking, but its not gonna make you burn that much calories. This treadmill will combine well with VR tho. Its like that omni directional device to simualte 360 degrees of movement so you can walk anywhere. Edit: fixed spelling.

Damn, this has a lot of potentials. With a proper Arduino and some investigations I see so many things that would make the experience much more enjoyable: - buttons and joysticks moved to the side rails, for easier access - a proper reading of the treadmill speed to properly simulate stuff, instead of having thresholds - ideally, have the slope of the treadmill linked to the slope of the terrain (probably need a camera to read that, if it's written anywhere on the screen) - change the resistance of the treadmill based on the weight of the package you are carrying. That would be so great.

to improve this, you can either harness the bag to the ceiling or create a controller mount with arm rest/arm supporter at the front to lessen the balancing issues at staying up while running and holding the controller so you have more focus on the legs I have similar project still on planning stage due to funds issue cause I need to commission a frame which can be strapped to the upper body and balance by being hanged on the ceiling and has a part that is directly mounted to a wired separated left analog stick so mine has less tension since I won't use a treadmill to move (so hard to explain but I hope you get what I mean), I'm so amazed you nailed the realism very much using the treadmill you just literally made a legit vr 1(or 2?) direction controller, all you need now is a vr headset

No idea what to do with the other buttons. 2. The straps that hold you in place should pull to the left or the right to mimic the imbalance in game. Obviously it needs to be live so as it happens to Norman it happens to you. (I don't even think this is possible but would be so cool. Well cool to me.)

I wish these type of controllers will start showing up soon and we can play our fav games for hours and stay fit too
