Haha I was the thinking the same. Like you no one drives my car but handing in for a dyno tune. I’m setting up a camera and leaving the place, can’t watch!

Back in the day I ran a supercharged Mini, the engine was a racy 1400 with low compression, the supercharger was a Shorroks, I put twin radiators on it and doubled up on the diaphragm spring in the clutch to stop the slip, I built the gearbox with the highest ratio final drive available and put 13" wheels on it with 185/70 tyres, even with the high gearing on 25lb boost and a coldish engine it would spin the wheels on a dry road in 4th gear. I got fed up with the constant final drive pinion failures in the end and sold the engine without the supercharger to Patric Watts was at Woolwich College in South London with me and who had a hot mini at the time, he went on to be compete in the British Touring Car Championship, happy days..

Attention to detail in this is great

Imagine British car culture was all of us building lightweight mini's. This is amazing.

Consistency Mayn yeah a gearbox can whine if it has straight cut gears and so will certain parts inside the engine itself for instance straight cut gears on the crank-to-cam gears on an aircooled vw bug will sound like a supercharger

i like how at the start of the drive the owner looks anxious to let another person be in control of his pride and joy, you can see the lumps in his throat . but by the end hes starting to trust the guy and he is able to enjoy his car from a different perspective and the grin on his face is ace.

I'm beyond impressed!! Beautifully engineered! Hotrodding is alive and well in the UK!!!

Growing up in America, i didnt get the chance to see too many original minis. But there was a guy that moved here from the UK and brought 6 of them with him. And he raced them. Awesome cars! The one you guys have is a whole other world!

I get that its a solid build and it should be able to take it, but still.. bouncing it off the rev limiter like that hurt a little

props to the lad for staying with a stockish engine and not going to the done to death hayabusa conversion

Beyond just bolting a bunch of parts on, there is something to be said for keeping an aesthetic value to the build under the hood (bonnet). This is a beautiful example, excellent little Mini! Wish I could drive it.

silentriders, i agree. Alot have been thrashed hard...drifted by P platers...or just neglected in general. I currently have 4. 1 daily wagon, 1 project wagon and 2 parts cars (sedan and wagon). Gotta have spares for these old girls...parts are getting hard to find 😉

Lorenzo Clara I can't man unfortunately it's just how these camera mics work, it's quieter when your behind it as it only uses the front mic when recording in 2 channel. I can get an external mic, I've got a Rode video mic pro but it's directional too, super quiet behind it. I normally pump the audio gain +4 when I'm talking behind

u can get a small mixer and a cheap lavalier mic. use the lavalier on you, rode on the content, both into the mixer, feed that to the cam. Problem solved, and not too expensive ;) Good video btw, and insane car!

Yep. A few different ways to achieve that and it would help a lot. As would a little less swinging of the camera around - the camera doesn't need to point towards John every time he says something, for instance. Otherwise great car, engaging video.

True, but ferraris aren't for the same thing as this. Most of them are grand tourers, and when they make a purpose built track car, like the FXX, they are really fast.
