Can’t beat a classic mini, out of all the cars I own, the mini is the one that puts the biggest smile on my face

Forty years ago I replaced the 998cc engine in my mini clubman with a 1275cc engine. The replacement engine had flat top racing pistons, a high lift camshaft, twin SU carbs, polished inlet manifold and a sports racing exhaust manifold. I had to fit an oil cooler to prevent overheating. Bloody hell did it go like shit off a shovel.

I have a classic modified 1275 mini, and a very fast 520bhp 80s hatch, and admittedly, the mini is just such a fun car to drive on those b roads. I took my one out today for a sunday drive and was grinning like yourself. Awesome video...spread the mini love. All young drivers need to experience raw mechanical driving with no aids. ❤

I had the same car for my first car, mini lite alloys. Stereo was in front of the passenger so changing the cassette was their job!!

I have a classic mini cooper mpi 1998 i've had the last 12 years. Restored it and only take it out the garage for summer shows/which i am on the shows with it via the club i'm in. Nothing beats driving a classic mini!

Owned three. Last one a 1989 flame red City. Ripped everything out. 1380 Swiftune engine with 5 speed straight cut Jack Knight box, 286 cam, roll cage, custome racing seats and harnesses, Spax, Hilos, MG Metro four pot vented discs etc etc. sold it in 2001. Noooooo!!!!!!!!!

Totally agree. I have a 1995 Mini Tartan Limited Edition. Its the 5th Mini I have owned over the years. The SPI makes the engine so easy to use.

I was bought up with Minis my Mum had one and my Grandad had two when I was a kid. Driving a Classic Mini is the most fun you can have with your clothes on 😂 I passed my driving test in 1996 and had an '89 Mini City until 2000...Then I got my' 95 Mini Cooper Spi which I still have... DTM twin centre exhaust, K&N induction kit, alloy rad, Koni adjustable suspension, 13" Starmag Alloys, sportspack arches and side skirts, 4 Mini Sport spot/fog lights set up, Astrali steering wheel etc 😊

They are great little cars 🚗 i have 2 1987 love them. Once ur bit by them u cannot let go. And the parts are all available.

How come the chopper was behind you earlier, then you stopped in the lay-by for the view for a while, and then when you got driving again that chopper was still behind you? I owned a lot of Minis from the standard 850 up to the top of the range over 40 years ago. They are the best fun ever! And as Michael Caine once famously said, "You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!" ( though the truck not the Mini )

I know the wheel spacers probably add to the cornering fun, but aesthetically not my favorite. Take those off to nudge the wheels in, this is my dream car.
