    How felting works is there are microscopic barbs on the needle (like porcupine quills) . when you stab the wool you essentially tangle the fibers , making it more dense thus making it smaller. hope the explanation helped 😊 tbh loved your fuzzy creations , so cute ❤️❤️ * Tyvm for the likes guys 🤗

    I recommend having a leather guard for both the index finger and the thumb, since both are in pokey range. I always use both. Also, you can turn pretty almost any yarn into something you can needle-felt if you use two dog brushes. basically brush the yarn with one, about 1-2 inches at a time (cut the yarn so you have several strands). This way you can have different colours without having to buy a whole thing of wool.

  • @zephyr4254
    @zephyr4254 Жыл бұрын

    if i'm not mistaken, i think the needles have tiny little barbs on them, so when you stab the felt, it pulls the little fibers down and tangles them into each other, making them stick together. I think. Edited for spelling

  • @dbseamz

    @dbseamz

    Жыл бұрын

    That's the explanation I've heard! The other part is that you have to use some kind of animal hair (wool is most common but people have used combings from their pets as well) because the surface of each fiber has little "scales" that catch on each other when the fibers are tangled by the needle's barbs.

    So cute! Needle felting is so much fun. If anyone wants to dive further into felting I would also suggest trying out wet felting. It is way messier due to the soapy water but it is such a cool process and the options on what to do are basically endless. First time I tried wet felting I made candycanes for my chrismas tree. I embedded a wire in them so I would be able to change how long and wide the was curv when hanging them in the tree. It's been at least ten years, I put them up every year and they still look just as good as they did when they were newly finished.

    ARGH! I love needle felting because there is something incredibly satisfying about that "crunchy" sound that's made by using surgically sharp, barbed needles and using them to stab a bit of wool. Crazy, right? I've had fun with this for years. Then you two do a video on it and I can't make it two minutes in without being sure you're going to stab the fool out of yourselves! Those needles make holes in you because they have barbs! >< Query, which needle felting device did each of you prefer? I have everything I saw you using (but not in a kit) and so I'm interested in what you really think of the supplies.

    I love needle felting, but I feel terror every time I pick up a needle xD A few years ago I dropped one on my carpet without realising, it was kinda stood up at an angle and I stepped on it - it went a solid couple centimeters into my foot :') I had a similar experience where I stepped on a sewing needle and it fully impaled through my little toe xD Gotta experience pain in order to create beauty I suppose haha

    Needle felting is the best! Just a tip from someone who's been doing this most of their life, the best part of needle felting is the connection with the wool. Starting with a kit is great, but if you want to take the next step, try and find a local sheep farmer and meet the sheep you get fleece from. I'm not sure if you have any local sheep farmers, so regardless of where you live, PeaceFleece is a great example of a fleece company that cares about the sheep and the history of wool:)

    When you stab the felt, it basically creates tiny tangles in the fibers that cause it to... well... tangle together. If you've every seen a mat of hair/fur, it's similar to simulating that, but controlled.

    I love needle felting! I got into it before it started becoming more recognized, I wish I'd found it when it got popular because boy did I have a hard time finding what I needed. But it all worked out! I have fun when I needle felt. Always love seeing you two lovely little chaos beans trying new things

    Oh these are PERFECT LMAO, and honestly hats off to both of you for not tainting the wool colours with... Well.. stab juice is maybe the YT friendly way to say such- Sadly I haven't had chance to watch your gaming channel in awhile; but if you don't mind me suggesting so.. the designs of these are REALLY really cute - and they remind me of a game called ooblets! Sadly it's single player, but it's kind of like a silly stardew X Pokémon esque farming sim; followed by cute dance battles, doing favours for the town etc.. it's bizzare, simple and cute! Plus it comes with polite looking mushrooms that very much remind me of your new felt friend! But besides that, this was really fun to watch. I enjoy seeing you both experiment with new mediums - and it's been a blast seeing that expand over the past 3 years of so now! (I can't quite remember when the bucket stool video came out, but close enough!)

    I have seen needle felting kits in stores and have seen Rachel Maksy needle felt a frog and a mouse knight and I think, that looks fun and then I realize I have no room in my home for any more objects and am sad. I am working on reducing the amount of stuff I have. Someday I will have room for a felted creature. ✨Life goals. ✨
