get some needle felting stencils! I have a bunch of basic ones that came in a starter kit, but you can do fairly intricate shapes using stencils! I made tiny hearts once :3

Also! You guys keep forgetting an intergral part of needle felting! The color is like a coat that goes over the finished piece, that's why they give you so little of the colored wool. The inside of needle felted items is almost always going to be a coarser wool without the perfect appearance, but this is on purpose. No one sees the inside, so a cheaper & thicker wool is used to bulk up the body of the piece, then the finer nice wool goes over it to make the perfect appearance. Think of it like you're making a gold-plated statue, not an entirely gold statue!

Felting tip, don’t wasted coloured yarn, buy a bag of natural wool, it’s not died or combed but perfect for creating the body of what ever you are making and you get a lot for very little. When you have the shape you want use the coloured wool to go over it, saving a lot of money and disappointment when you only have a small bag of colour.

The mold idea would work even better if it was made out of the same foam as the block Katelyn was using, that way you can stab into it without breaking needles

​@@danana4867they've actually said before that they do have editors. I'm not sure what content is them vs what they have the editors do. I'm sure more of the longform stuff like Uncut is stuff they pass on to editors.

Yay! Very excited. The uncut was the thing that got me into needle felting, and honestly, i love it! My favourite hobby, besides drawing!

A tip for saving your wool is to use polyester stuffing to make your base, with a little sewing thread wrapped or tied around it to hold its shape. Then you can layer your wool over top in the colours you want. This also makes finished pieces lighter, as the polyester filling doesn't get as dense as the wool!

I use pillow stuffing to create the shape of whatever I’m making then cover it with the colored stuff

Very popular craft in Finland is to felt around soap bars. Then the soap is nice and fluffy when you use it and it hods up really well, however, it is a bit nasty if it is already wet and soggy and you go to use it lol

I love wool felting, it’s so satisfying 🐑 I’ve done succulent plants, “paintings” with a scene on fabric and I have plans for some memorial pet portraits soon. I can relate so hard to the “ouch! oh, I’m not bleeding” haha. I do have some leather thimbles with a bit of metal on top, protects those fingers nicely hehe

Those turned out so cute! Tip from a yarn spinner: you don't have to fight to pull off some of the roving. Just move your hands further apart. With your hands close together, you're trying to pull apart individual strands of wool. But if you move your hands further apart than the staple length (the length of the individual strands), they'll slide apart easily.

This is so fun to watch. Ginger bread cookies are not a thing in my country. But I've always wanted to know what they taste like! Should I try making them?

Absolutely make some! Don't have to use the right shape cookie cutter to have the right taste :)

I don’t have a 3D printer, but there is a maker space super close to me. Cookie cutters are great for certain polymer clay applications and I think plastic ones with sharp edges on one side would be ideal for making faux gemstones! No super thick edges that squish things too much (standard plastic cutters) and no seams to misshape them and create extra sanding work (standard metal cutters) sounds like the best possible option.

Hey, guys, suggestion for making it easier to pull fiber off the roving: first, make sure it isn't twisted at all, and move your hands further apart. If you have to yank on it, your hands are too close together. You are probably pulling two ends of the same fiber and making things much harder than they have to be. Source: I'm a yarn spinner and I teach people how to draft fiber all the time. :D
