This was super helpful, thank you for putting it together. Regarding the vanilla peanut butter protein aftertaste, was it very different from the french vanilla for you? I remember liking the french vanilla but I have the vanilla peanut butter right now and cant stand it.

I found the aftertastes similar, but more prominent in vanilla peanut butter and strawberry flavors than just the French vanilla. This is also what makes trying to do flavor-based reviews so difficult because everybody’s palate responds to different ingredients in unique ways. I’ve found Transparent Labs vanilla peanut butter aftertaste to be similar to other brands who do a “vanilla peanut butter” combo - I remember it very clearly with Ryse Loaded protein powder’s Peanut Butter Ice Cream flavor as well.

What does unflavored taste like?

There's really no difference between unflavored protein of one brand and unflavored protein of another brand, if you're talking about whey protein. It's hard to describe what "unflavored" tastes like though. It's very distinct. I really do NOT like drinking unflavored on its own though. I need to mix it with yogurt or oatmeal or something else.

I initially got their french toast and it was alright but not my favorite, still had that classic vanilla taste you find in a lot of protein that I think is overused (and frankly, kinda sick of after so long). But that's also why I like that they offer 2.5lb containers in addition to 5lb - so you're not stuck with it for so long. Looking forward to trying mint chocolate, peanut butter and sugar cookie, people seem to like them the most

You'll find that same aftertaste in the vanilla peanut butter flavor, but the regular peanut butter is excellent.

I defintiely need to start diving into Thorne products. I'll add their protein to my list to test. I've used their creatine and have talked about it on the website before, but haven't mentioned them on any videos yet.

I also would like to know about thorne products. I think they are pricey as transparent lab. But also very clean with high quality ingredients. Is hard to find any reviews on them. I really like their vanilla flavor. And another note they are official supplement for Rudby USA and UFC that needs to say something about their products.

I've found Transparent Labs great on my stomach for those same reasons. I'm actually in the process of putting together a video about protein powders I've tried that HAVE NOT upset my stomach. If you do end up trying Transparent Labs, let me know how it goes.

@@feast_good thanks i will do. I started out with myprotein whey and then switched to whey isolate because my stomach just couldn't handle the pure whey. The isolate was better but I've been fasting (Ramadan) and not having any protein powder and I've noticed significantly less trouble with my stomach so far. It doesn't make sense to me because I have had milk with cereal for breakfast for nearly my whole life, when I was younger I had ice cream and desserts too with no issues. I'm not lactose intolerant. I just think maybe the sucralose or even the small lactose (is some lactose in different protein powder brands worse than others?) traces in most isolate protein is what causes an upset stomach for me.

​@@Pro4TLZZ Ya each brand willl source their whey differently, all of which will have varying quality standards. Another type of protein powder you could try is beef protein. I just started testing a beef protein recently and found it good on my stomach. I'm going to mention it in my next video.

@@feast_good I have been using Transparent Labs Whey Isolate Strawberry for over a week now, nearly every day because I had some time booked off after Ramadan (Muslim month of fasting) and used it to resume training. My stomach has been much better than when I was having MyProtein Whey Isolate White Chocolate or Whey concentrate. The discomfort with both of those was quite bad and I eventually I had to stop eating stuff like Wholemeal bread but now I've been able to come back on it. I also noticed during Ramadan that when I drank too much water I have stomach trouble too, not just because I'll naturally need to use the bathroom more than usual. So maybe that was a factor as well when I was taking MyProtein. Anyway the only complains I have with the Transparent Labs stuff is the shape of the scoop which makes it hard to fill the entire scoop sometimes, I just use the MyProtein scoop now which can fit 30g. Also I can taste the Stevia but I'm getting used to it. It's only a 275ml shake for me so easy to pass down. I might try the Vanilla flavour out, I wish they did have a White Chocolate flavour because that then would be perfect. The Transparent Labs stuff is much more expensive but much more worth it just because it doesn't give the same stomach troubles. Thanks for the recommendation! Edit: I also wish they had more flavours in the UK. The only supplier (Healf) doesn't have too many flavours. I'd really like to try the sugar cookie flavour.

Best flavor is chocolate peanut butter. But if you want the cleanest possible I'd avoid "natural flavors " and purchase the unflavored one and just make your own protein shake.

I've reviewed a lot of protein powders and all of them have "natural flavors" listed. But you're right, if you want to avoid "natural flavors" go for an unflavored version. Something like Bulk Supplements would be good (feastgood.com/recommends/bulk-supplements-whey-protein-isolate/) or just check out my video on the best unflavored protein powders (kzread.info/dash/bejne/mJlssNqvXZSXkbA.html). However, I don't think people watching this video are looking for an unflavored protein.

Tip my hat to you for the extra mile you go when making your videos. There's 4 flavors based on my taste preferences here I'd be willing to try. Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Vanilla Peanut Butter, and Peanut Butter.

Thank you, that means a lot. If you like peanut butter, you'll LOVE the Transparent Labs peanut butter flavor. Otherwise, I think Dark Chocolate is excellent with milk or oatmeal. You can't go wrong either way. Let me know once you've tried them. Taste is super individual and making a "ranking list" like this is hard.

Does the dark chocolate work nicely in water? I’m not a huge fan of super sweet things so I’m curious if the dark chocolate is less sweet than the milk chocolate and which tastes better in water? I’ve only ever had optimum nutrition double rich chocolate and I liked it in water

Yes, good with just water. Similar to Optimum Nutrition, but a bit smoother in terms of texture. I'm the same way, I don't like super sweet protein powders.
