Transparent Labs vs Legion Protein: Who Wins?

Over two months, I tested Transparent Labs and Legion Athletics protein powders extensively, aiming to determine a clear winner despite their remarkable similarities in quality, taste, and price, across seven categories.

Feel free to use them or don't. There's no extra cost to you. They simply help me purchase more products to review for the channel. Also, it's important to mention, an affiliate link is NOT a sponsored link. I paid for this product 100% with my own money and reviewed it independently. I have never received any financial compensation from manufacturers for reviews. Companies never know that I'm reviewing their products before a video gets published. It makes no difference to me whether I love or hate the product, I simply tell you my candid opinion. So while I can receive commissions for referring sales to products, if you end up being disappointed with my recommendation and don’t come back to the channel, I lose my audience trust. This is why I always set a very high standard for my review process, and constantly strive to provide the best, most honest, and most helpful information. ➡ 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 feastgood.com/transparent-labs-vs-legion-protein/

Great review, these are the 2 proteins I have been debating on switching to. I looked at the nutrition labels for each flavor of TL and can see that weight per serving varies slightly depending upon the flavor, e.g. Vanilla is 34.3g per serving vs. Dark Chocolate is 37.9g. However, the weight of the containers varies by flavor as well. At the end of the day, you are still getting 28g of protein per serving, with no fillers, and 30 servings per container. Can you help me understand why I should be concerned about the percentage of protein per scoop if I am getting 28g per serving? I just found your channel, maybe there's a different video that explains that?

Protein percentage here is not calculated as grams of protein divided by the scoop size. Protein percentage for us is calculated by what percentage of the total calories come from protein. So, if a product has 28g of protein and protein is 4 calories per gram, this product has 112 calories from protein. If this protein is 120 total calories per scoop, we go: 120 calories / 112 calories from protein = 0.93, or this protein is 93% protein per scoop. Protein percentage is more of a tool for comparing brand A to brand B, versus comparing different flavours of one brand. Financially: If you’re investing in a protein powder, and a product costs $50 but is only 70% protein per scoop, then 30% of your Investment isn’t being spent on protein. Nutritionally: if all you care about is total grams of protein, then you’re right that protein percentage doesn’t matter. If you are dieting in a way that tracks carbs and fats, or total calorie intake, then you might want a product that cuts out as many carbs and fats as possible In a calorie deficit, if I can get 28g of protein from a 120 calorie product, I’d prefer that to getting 28g of protein from a 150 calorie product. As an aside, I've used your method of evaluating protein brands before to see how much "added stuff" is in a product. For example: -ATP beef protein has a 30g scoop. It has 1g fat, 4g carbs, and 24g of protein. This means that 29g/30g are attributed to the actual food, with only 1 gram leftover for flavors/colors/preservatives/etc. -Mutant Whey has a 36g scoop 2g fat, 7g carbs, 22g protein So 31g/36g is attributed to food macronutrients, meaning 5g per scoop is extra “stuff”. Hope this answers your question!
