You should do a follow up video where you take the ones you don't like so much, and add colored dye (tie dye style) over the top of the bleach dye. Might recover some cool designs out of them.

I think color theory is important for bleach-dye, so if you want blue with white 'clouds' you should pick a neutral sky blue shirt. For reference: -Cobalt blue usually has a warm undertone meaning that it will bleach warmer (aka/violet). -Teal is midway between blue and green, if it leans more green it will bleach light green, if it has more blue it will bleach light blue. -Navy/Denim blue generally is neutral/cold toned and is likely to show up grey-ish blue or light blue/white when bleached. If you are unsure whether your fabric has a warm, cold or neutral undertone I recommend doing a swatch test (just pinch and tie a small amount of fabric in a spot that is either not very noticeable or works as a strategic design choice). The deep blue shirts Evan and Katelyn dyed look like a cobalt/violet blue which is why they turned pink when bleached.

This is crazy, I was wondering why the blue shirts were bleaching pink.

I like the grey crop sweatshirt Katelyn! It was far more subtle than I thought it would be, but I think it looks nice! It's like a really worn-out favorite shirt that's been washed and dried 8000 times, and now it's just faded. ❤️ you guys! Happy Fri-Yay!

@@EvanAndKatelyn2 or light blue? Wouldn't blue + pink = purple or lavender, depending on how light the blue? The lavender over pink should get darker pink, but you might want to try on an inside seam to be sure 😉

So for the ones you are not happy with, like the pink sweat suit, and the gray crop, I recommend to go back and do an actual dye. Add some additional color and you may like it more! This was fun, and playing with bleach on fabric is an adventure for sure. Thanks for taking us on yours!

You know it's kind of funny? I watched the long version of this when it originally came out, but I'm going to watch this version just because I always appreciate the editing/storytelling. 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

The next day reveals also make this a worthwhile watch.

I used a spray bottle with bleach onto a black shirt and made it look like stars and I painted on some planets and spaceships and It came out gorgeous and way better than I thought it would. Definitely recommend bleach painting with a paint brush!

the cool thing about the "fails" is that they can still be tie dyed again to cover up the undesired results!! the clouds one and jeans would just need a second pass if they just need "more". the make fail cropped hoodie could be turned into a grey to white gradient by dipping the sleeves and hem into small pools and slowly pulling it out in portions while leaving the lower parts to keep bleaching. it still looks nice on camera anyway :) and the meaty ones could benefit from a bit of coloured dye to help sell the pretty fluffy cloud visual haha

I am not even a full three minutes into this video, and all I can say is the editing on this channel is IMMACULATE. yeah I was about to say that, if you don't use red or pink you won't end up looking like ham. Especially that pink - a really saturated hot pink probably wouldn't look so...meaty.

Right guys the flame pattern hurt! If you want to achieve a flickery flame gradient roll your t-shirt around a piece of rope (thickness will determine how big your flames are) and scrunch down. It helps if you tie the two ends together making the t-shirt look like a scrunchie. Then immerse in dye or bleach. Look for honeycomb dye for a visual tutorial. Xxx

Mr. TieDye here on YT said after rinsing the bleach out, rinse it again in a solution if 9 parts water and 1 part hydrogen peroxide to fully neutralize the bleach. Apparently even if you completely wash it, some residual bleach can remain and eat your clothes.

omg when i tell you i just made flame sweatpants in the same style as katelyn's jeans just TWO WEEKS AGO :OOO the odds are crazy edit: I have now seen the end of the video and if anyone else wants to have flame pants here's a tip. I used a thicker non-splash bleach unintentionally but it helped against bleeding so I was able to get the tops of the flames with a paintbrush and the rest of the fire with a spraybottle and it ended up with pretty clear defined lines. :)

I know you guys think you failed in some of these, but this has inspired me so much! I have never done bleach tie dye before, but I really want to try it with my husband after watching this! ❤ keep creating! You guys are adorable!

i think the ones that look like meats just needed to be taken further with the bleach, so it had less dark pinks and it was more like cozy pinks and whites if that makes sense also i think a more round brush for the jeans flames rather than a flat brush would have done that *wonders*, in terms of sharper points but also holding more bleach in the brush i can't wait to see future attempts, i really love the idea of this activity, i really hope to try it some day but for now i have to live vicariously through you guys

I soooo wish you guys had merch with the main stuff on the back. I want that crop topped hoodie so bad but I typically don't prefer stuff on the front of my shirt because of "chesticle" things. It's embarrassing. Love you guys so much!

I would love to see what you could do with batik and bleach. Essentially, using liquid wax to stencil off the parts you want to keep unbleached, for much better precision and super crisp edges~ Possibly also alternating rounds of batik with dye and bleach to get layered effects!

You can use solid blocks of pool chlorine like sidewalk chalk on wet fabric for more control of the design.

Loved the experiments, I love trying to tie dye things too, would love some more videos in the future! Mixing techniques also does a lot for the design, like bleach + color dying or + painting with fabric acrylic paint is very interesting, unique and looks awesome!

FREEZER PAPER! I'm tellin' ya: cut out a pattern with a blade, then iron it onto the fabric and spray. It will change your life. I've made dozens of designs on shirts and socks and blankets and pants. Freezer paper is the way to go!

My favorite way to do bleach tie-dye was tying and dropping in a bucket of bleach water for a few minutes. I got a really good cloud effect that way

I wish there was some coloured dyes put over these, like a light blue over the sweatsuit to make it less salami looking 😅 and use more things to wrap the garments around, using shibori dye techniques. One of my favourites is to scrunch fabric over a thin metal pole, tie in place then bleach.

Watching the uncut was incredible a while back. But watching the cut was equally hilarious to witness 😂

I’ve had catnip tea, it’s really calming and nice. I don’t use catnip you buy for cats, it’s probably fine but I just get actually marketed catnip herbs.

So, what have we learned about trying to bleach coral colors...? Anyways, in regards to the blue cloth turning pink, I think that happens a lot with dark/navy blue colors, because in order to darken the color they'll add some "black" dye that is oftentimes a very, very dark red that has the additional action of making the cloth a little bit more of a "dusky" blue rather than bright blue, but darker. My mom had a nice blue dress, when someone spilled bleach on it and it turned pink too. They're often very tricky with color palettes like that where they mix colors you don't expect to create the one you see.
