    I had my first silk press last week after feeling tempted to relax my hair. When I saw how long and silky and the movement that my natural hair has…I am no longer tempted to relax my hair. I appreciate my hair even more. I would never be able to achieve this beautiful result with a relaxer.

    I am confused by your comment, why do you think you can't get flowy, silky hair that moves with a relaxer...that IS kind of the whole point of relaxers (to break the hair bonds down so it will be easier to get and stay straight)? I do think relaxers don't agree with many people's hair (especially those with fine hair) as it causes excess breakage for some.

    This video convinces me for sure. I just need to find an experienced professional in FL. My hair texture varies and is never uniform when I wear it in its natural state. I don’t care what anyone else says it’s not flattering on me. My hair is also prone to single strand knots which allows for more breakage. Also my hair shrinkage is at about 75 percent. So no master how much I grow my hair (it’s finally back at bra strap length) I never see it. I believe a texture release could help me in so many areas without compromising the integrity of my hair. I don’t want to go back to a relaxer I just want my styles to last longer and elongate my curls.

    The Texture Release System by Avlon is heat activated with amino acids and advanced patent-pending conditioning agents that penetrate deep into the hair fibers that enable ultimate styling versatility. This is an ideal process for curly to excessively curly hair textures.

    You did a great job on this client's beautiful hair. How much does the texture release loosen the curl? Some say it is pretry permanent even though it's supposed to revert. Have you found that issue with your clients. Thanks in advance for any input ❤

  • @BehindTheScenesM2GH

    @BehindTheScenesM2GH

    9 ай бұрын

    Hello it will loosen about a curl level down. Like if you are a 4C you will be about a 3C. Also as time goes the curls revert back to your original curl pattern, but more uniformly. One tip is if you can keep the initial press out about 1 month it will help to loosen your curl more. I am not sure what pretry permanent is. But my clients have reported that their curls came back. The results are usually dependent most on who is applying the treatment. If they follow the instructions it should perform as expected. Hope this helps :)

    @BehindTheScenesM2GH thank you so much for that detailed analysis. I am a 3c/4a and I don't necessarily want to go down to a 3a or anything; I just want to keep my hair straight (when straightened) and frizz down when it's curly. I do like that it eventually reverts back unlike a full blown texturizer. Thanks again for your reply 🤗😄

    Will the hair be its regular texture at the roots for someone with 4c hair if you are not putting the lotion on the root because you are avoiding the scalp? I heard about this from my hair dresser. It sounds great but I was skeptical that it sounds too good to be true. Thank you for the informative video.

    YW for the info it was my pleasure. The pressing process will take care of the root. The amount of space that is asked to be from the scalp is so minimum you will not be able to see with your eye the difference.

    How would I make the switch from relaxers to texture releases? I trained my hair to stretch my relaxers, to the point where I only get one a year. My last one was in Nov. 2022.

  • @BehindTheScenesM2GH

    I would suggest you contact the stylist you plan to have deliver the texture release service to give a final recommendation after she has seen your hair. But if you have not had any other chemical services since Nov (including color services) your hair should be ready to get a texture release. Again this is general advice and would need to be confirmed by your licensed hair care provider.

    I have questions. So, you said it's not a chemical, because a chemical breaks the bonds. Something like this and straightening systems, do not break the bonds, but stretches the curl pattern. So, would this be safe to use on someone's hair if they are coming out of the relaxer? If so, do you apply the cream to just the new growth? Or apply the cream to the whole length of the hair? I know with any product I use on my clients, I look for the pros and the cons. What are the pros and cons with this system?

  • @BehindTheScenesM2GH

    @BehindTheScenesM2GH

    With the texture release, I have not applied it to someone who has a relaxer. So at this time I won't have the answer to your question.. But if I go off my history knowledge with hair, I would say, grow out your relaxer and then apply the texture release. I'm sorry. I know that's not the answer you want. But that is definitely my honest opinion. I know if someone comes in, that's similar to this, and I do it. I definitely will record it for you guys.

    I have not done a Keratin service. When I was researching I felt it best to introduce this service in my salon for a few reasons. Mainly its the same product line as I use with my relaxers and have seen consistent positive results with their relaxers. From there I lab test my services with my family saw the versatility and that it kept the integrity of the hair. After this I brought the service live and my clients have also reported positive results and experience. While I do see the similarities when reading up on Keratin treatments I could not definitively say they are the same. Only because I have not performed a Keratin Treatment. As for deciding when to transition from one chemical service to another I always recommend you default to the conclusion of the stylist who will perform the service. In the mean time you can do protein treatments about every two weeks. This will help to build strength in your hair while you are looking for the stylist. my2goldenhands.blogspot.com/2022/03/Protein%20Treatment.html this is the treatment I am referencing. Hope this helps

Then check in with your professional if your hair is ready to be relaxed. My rule of thumb is always 6 months between chemical services. But when discussion bleaching and a texture release you run the risk of your hair breaking at the point that the chemical services overlap. Especially if you went high on the level. I would say consult the stylist that will be providing the service. If you have not located them I suggest doing protein treatments every two weeks as your grow out the bleach until you get directions from your stylists. Overall I recommend time between chemical services to be minimum 12 weeks but with color 6 months. While you are locating a stylist I recommend a protein treatment alternating with your healthy color regimen. Here's the instructions I give my clients www.my2goldenhands.com/new-color and my2goldenhands.blogspot.com/2022/03/Protein%20Treatment.html.
