First Wash Day post Texture Release | Fine, 4C hair | Can I get salon results at home?

Hey guys,
Here is my first wash day Post texture release, I was so nervous about this but in the end it went a lot better than I expected! I’m still getting used to styling my natural hair but I’m enjoying it so far!

Yes you always hydrate, moisturize, and DOUBLE heat protectant before you straighten your hair. You deep condition your clean hair then you use a little leave-in conditioner, heat protectant hair lotion-milk. THEN you blow dry your hair and lastly use a heat protectant spray & serum BEFORE you use a straightener. Make sure your hair straightener is under 375 Fahrenheit and your blow dryer is medium heat high voltage. If you do that you will never get heat damage, hopes this help❤

Listen, the detangling benefits alone makes it worth it. I love my texture release. I looked up the ingredients for that Keracare spray and it's silicone not oil. I'm fine with using silicones but a little really does go a long way. Too much will make your silk press stiff and greasy. I use two drops of the Paul Mitchell for my entire head. I also prefer to use light oils on my hair like argan instead heavy ones like castor. I only use a small amount too

  • @_motheringinstyle

Exactly this, the detangling is just life changing! Thanks for the info on the KeraCare spray, I’m definitely finding that less is more with that, I hate greasy straight hair!

When you put oil in your hair before straightening it makes your hair stiff, try only using heat protection spray! It really worked for me and we have the same hair texture. Now when I straighten my hair it’s salon bouncy for days

Yes I’ve definitely noticed this! I’m finding the KeraCare heat protectant gives me enough sheen that I don’t need to use additional oil anymore!

From my experience sometimes a trim is needed to deal with tangling issues, especially with thin hair, it's more susceptible to damage.

Yeah I feel you! I think it all depends on your original hair texture, my hair could never look like this after a blow dry pre-texture release, it would never get this straight or sleek! If yours can then its probably better to just do a silk press and save your coins!

The best practice is to use Texture Release shampoo and conditioner to maintain the texture release for longer. Then, texture release thermal protector spray before straightening . I do texture release on my daughter's hair, and it lasts up to 3 months thanks to using the products. She wears her hair both, curly and straight depending what she wants and I noticed that if I use a different shampoo for example, the effect is not the best. I use keracare deep moisturising mask ofter every other wash, but I always use the texture release shampoo.

I wish people would do their research before making conclusions. It's not a texturiser nor is it a relaxer. There are no chemicals that permanently change the curl pattern. It allows manageability of natural hair and wears off between 10-12weeks. Relaxers don't wear off, your hair is straight forever. And texturisers also do the same, your curl pattern changes permanently. I've had one and my hair is still very much 4c. So not a relaxer!! And no dangerous chemicals
