    Thanks man. I'll actually probably go around on an ADV bike. Thinking a Tiger 800 XCA. I was originally thinking about doing it on the scrambler, and it certainly could do it, but there's some advantages to lockable luggage, heated seats, and cruise control. If I am going to live on a bike for a few years, might as well turn it into a recliner! Excited for you on the new bike!! It was the end of March last year that I picked mine up. It'll be a great feeling seeing it once you arrive. More importantly, enjoy riding it after that, it's a blast!! Can't wait to hear what you do to your Scrambler.

    Follow-up question. I've read here and there about pronounced vibrations on the street scrambler at roughly highway speeds. It doesn't seem to be a universal complaint so not sure how much stock to put into that. My 2 demo rides were controlled group rides with a leader on a short loop below highway speeds, which of course revealed nothing. What has been your experience?

    On the number plate, go to an auto parts store and they sell small rolls of pinstriping, use it to go around the edge of your paint job to hide the rough edges, Also if you are painting one like this, they sell thin masking tape that bends around curves for a better look! Hope this helps someone!

    I tried to buy the Wax Cotton Pannier from my local dealar but they were out of stock and they said that Triumph doesn't make them anymore. I decided to make my own with a used ammo-can and some flat bars instead. My mount points were the top of the shock and the passenger footrest. I chose a small M19A1 ammo-can with just enough space for some tools, a water bottle, a sandwich or two and some candy. No more back-pack.

    Saw you video and found it very informative. I was myself thinking of getting a bench seat for my street twin but dropped the idea when I got to know about the rack issue. Can you send me a clear picture of the back of your seat,so that I can see what all modifications you have done in order for the rack to hold properly.

  • @ScramblerStories

    @ScramblerStories

    5 жыл бұрын

    I no longer have the Triumph Bench Seat. I switched to a British Customs Slammer seat. For the Triumph one, I did take out some plastic bracing to make it work with the rack. But for the BC seat, I just added some washers underneath the latch for the seat. That would have worked fine for the Triumph seat too. This video here shows what I am talking about. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pJ2rs7qLha-xZco.html -Chris

  • @ScramblerStories

    @ScramblerStories

    No the ECU you learns the system on it's own. Maps are no longer available from dealers. Supposedly if you unplug the battery and then replug, and let the bike idle for a few minutes when you first fire it up, it helps it learn the new exhaust faster. I've done that both times I installed a new exhaust and have not had any issues.

    I just wasn't too interested in the Vance & Hines. I would of probably got the Vance & Hines scrambler exhausts for the Street Twin if you knew it was still on World of Triumph for a killer deal. But I'm cool with the decat from BC because I like the look of the stock pipes. There is a small part me that still drools over the Zard, but I didn't want to spend that much money when I have other things I need to save my money for.

  • @ScramblerStories

    The exhaust will definitely melt any fabric that touches it. However, you could use heat shields and might be able to get by that way. But I don't know of any bags that can withstand touching the actual exhaust.

    Excellent videos! I’ve had a SS I got new in 2017, but due to life, haven’t had a chance to put hardly any miles on it at all. Your channel is inspiring me to get moving and get some use out of it. Out of curiosity, with all your gear, luggage, etc, what do you do for a helmet lock? I’ve seen a number of them that connect to the frame, but they all look like they’d interfere with a pannier if it was in place. Thanks!

  • @ScramblerStories

    I always bring my helmet with me personally. Even if the helmet was locked up, the strap could be cut, or my Sena 10C could be easily removed from the helmet if someone was familiar with it. So I've always just brought it around with me and never bothered with a lock. If I'm at an event with a lot of motorcyclists, I'll just leave it on the handlebars and I've never had an issue. Now get out there and ride! ;-) Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the reply! That certainly makes sense. I hadn’t even thought of the potential issue of a Bluetooth unit in the helmet being stolen (never had one, but am thinking it’d be a nice addition). I’ve got one last question if you don’t mind. How were your gloves in the colder, wet weather up north? Did they stay dry? Living in Michigan is a pain sometimes between our temperature swings and so I’m looking to get a decent pair of colder (not winter though) gloves as my others are hot weather mesh which just suck without hand guards 😂. Thanks again!

    It helps, not dramatic, but helps. Most noticeable after long distances on the highway. You're less beat up and arms aren't at strained from the wind pushing you back since your chest is well protected. It does help a little with the cold by blocking the air to your chest, but it's never my chest that gets too cold. Always my hands!
