Triumph Scrambler Panniers vs Kriega
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
On my Triumph Scrambler 1200XE I run the Triumph Rugged Pannier bag, but on my KTM I use the Kriega OS system.
In this video I take a close look at both bags, compare the features and functionality.

Since posting this video a couple of people have pointed out that I did not mention the locking mechanism on the Triumph Rugged pannier. If you undo the inner lining, there is a little wheel you turn on the inside, behind the catch, which stops it from releasing using the external trigger. This is actually very fiddly to get to and use, especially if you are fitting the panniers when full. It's not really a lock, rather just extra security to stop the pannier coming off. Thanks to those who contacted me about this.
I have to say… every time I have a question regarding my scrambler 1200 I almost always end on your channel organically. Thinking about panniers and here I am. So thank you for creating the videos

That's nice to know, as this is not a 'commercial' channel. I just make videos as a hobby to try and help other bikers, as I in turn find many other channels helpful. The greatest benefit of social media.

The Kriega os panniers are great...I have the OS 6's on my T7 for daily use and the OS 12's for trips away. I'm sure they will sling over my XR650R if i tried. I'm still picturing a Triumph scrambler xe, possibly with the low Zard exhaust and Kriega OS panniers...we shall see! Your scrambler videos are part of my decision making!! Cheers, Steve
Wanted more of a vintage look for my Triumph, went with a R9Kustoms rolltop bag for my Scrambler.

I know this was 2 years ago but I want to thank you the R9K pannier bag is basically exactly what I'm looking for in a school bag weekend trip bag. Cheers!

@@XxkitxX10 Maybe we'll see a review on your channel :)
Good review mate. In case you're not aware there is a sort of lock on that spring loaded latch to prevent (or slow down) theft. Open the velcro and have a look at the back of the latch and there should be a locking wheel of some sort (it's a while since I used mine so can't remember exactly). Cheers.

Thanks for that info Kevin. I was aware that there was some kind of lock, but I've yet to figure out how it works and how good it is. I'll have a further investigation!
hi...sorry if I take the liberty of giving you some "practical" advice...the closure of the bag should be much closer to the corner...preventing the wind from lifting the left corner of the bag. Ah...but the bag was already like this! It's very annoying when you go. Standing still it's perfect.
Got to wonder if the Triumph bag was made by Keiga because the removable inner bag held in with Velcro is exactly the same as the way Keiga do it.

At a guess I'd say they're made by SW Motech, the clips that hold the bag to the rack are exactly the same. And the good news is that SW Motech have a comprehensive parts list, so if you do break a clip, you can buy another.
If you’re a fan of the Triumph Scrambler, read Forgotten Road by Randall Arthur. The whole last half of the book highlights the Scrambler with numerous on-road adventures. The book is a work of fiction, but supposedly the adventures in the book are all based on Arthur’s real-life experiences. Randall Arthur is the author of the bestselling novel Wisdom Hunter. On a side note, Forgotten Road is a faith-based novel.
That standard attachment system is definitly a SW- Motec based original or copy (see SW motec legend gear) , it is not a kriega copy

It seems to work well
Do you know the dimensions of the triumph rugged pannier? Can only find the 25L measure online, trying to find out length/height. Thank you for all the great content!

Does the Pannier effect the passenger riding significantly with foot pegs or sticking out?

Not that I have found. Perhaps a little more difficult to climb on the pillion seat.
