This song might as well have been “our song”. We did almost everything listed in the song. I was 15 and Dad didn’t approve so I ran away with the boy and had a wonderful life which included 4 beautiful children. We were together for 44 years until death took him away. Trisha sings it beautifully.

I was playing the Dixie Chicks when this random girl says "check out Tricia Yearwood" I did, and thank her so much for the heads up. She is pure class.

I have loved this song for over 28years when I first heard it.

I was listening to Sia and Adele and Anne-Marie for hours; then Trisha pops into my head, and I remembered this amazing album. I love this woman, and this song is so great!

Many have done covers of this song, but seemingly all miss the mark. In the section with the mother talking to the father ("You wasn't nothing but a hayseed plowboy"), the singer must hit the final line: "Katie looks at Tommy like I still look at you." The rendition has to carry that gut sense--the mother is older and has been married to the guy for nearly two decades, but still gets the hots for him just from seeing him. Singing it straight through makes the whole thing fall flat. Trisha Yearwood is the only one who nails it.

Trisha amazes me. She literally has not aged. I dont know if people realize this or not, but she has the best sense of humor of anyone in the music business period. She is so ridiculously funny, she could easily do stand up comedy. She is so quick-witted and brilliant...She should be the one hosting award shows. One of the most gorgeous elite singers ever. This song touched so many of us as young adults back in the day.

i honestly didnt know this was her until i clicked the video and heard her voice. but man this song i can just keep on repeat without ever getting tired of it. absolutely amazing.

Great tune, rhythm, great lyrical content and that absolute voice of Trisha. That is what made it a hit and all time favorite of so many. I would have loved to have heard Trisha and Linda Rondstat together.

I think that Trisha Yearwood is so wonderful and has a Voice that always gets me in the Heart everytime

My mother can sing this song just like her. Its so great!
