Spot on. As fun as it was to have a rat-rod Ferrari, a full stripped-to-the-frame restoration and a well-finished convertible conversion is what this car has deserved from the beginning. Your experiences with the Boxer and the Scud have all been leading you to this place.

Despite the Testarossa being the kickstart to the channel I believe that it can now become the catalyst to the channel growing even more once again. The restoration project (alongside the BBI) will bring in an increase in views/subscribers, revenue and the end sale will allow reinvestment in other projects and finally a workshop rather than your driveway. For what it's worth I would love to see a 388 GTO replica build, use the £ from the sale, find a ratty 308 GTB and take us all on another journey Scott! Whatever you decide I'll be watching and best of luck.

Have you ever thought about getting a small workshop? You can run a series on finding one, fitting it out (tools, decor etc) & I think it will help take the channel to the next level & yes, prioritize the Testarossa build as you can either hang on to it as a retirement investment, or sell it to raise capital for the channel.

I’m sure you’ve thoughts of this, but why not convert your existing garage to a double wide door. Tools can go on the side and you’ll recover some depth in the process. You’ll probably need a steel beam across top of the opening, but it’s doable.

I have to tell you that I found the Ratarossa on that kit car website about 10 - 12 years ago and I REALLY wanted to get it. But I knew I didn't have the ability to bring it back to life. So I waffled back and forth and eventually let it go. I'm glad that someone who has the ability to bring it back got it. Good luck with the project. I'll get myself a Testa someday...

The wheel nuts are threaded the same as Italian threaded bottom brackets on bicycles. The sensible way would be for the threads to run opposite to the direction of motion, but the Italians don’t do that. It was the clever Brits who did it the correct way and made the threads on each side run in opposite directions.

Pich it to your local bank manager because you are going to burn through some bucks gettting The Rat up to scratch. Sounds like a great restoration series is yours for the taking here on YT if you can get the funds for the restoration. That's all the body work re-aligned, panel gaps etc, back to bare metal respray and quite a lot of interior work. I'll bet it wil be a hit series on this channel. Best of luck, Scottie

@ratarossa, that is actually pretty hilarious that the whole time you were tightening it! I don’t know how many times I’ve worked on a car just to realize I’ve been doing something wrong or there was a simply way to do something that I made way more complicated lol

I was yelling at the screen when you attempted to take the driver side lock off.. 😂😉. No worries though. Happens to all of us. 😎 I was happy to hear the public encouraged you to restore the rattarossa. 👍🏻 Isn’t it nice to be able to work on a vehicle and actually fix what you wanted? Can’t do that with a modern one… Looking forward to the side by side comparison! Hopefully take away some good pointers! 👏🏻👍🏻

Interesting stuff as per previous efforts. First thing I thought of when you started to undo the Hub Wheel Fasteners was checking if "old school" left or right-handed threads. Simply because been there done that many moons ago. Did you get those helpful Guys to loosen the rear wheel ones whilst there. Almost certainly they will be silly tight from those working on the car in previous ownership. Ten years ago, bought a very tidy used car which came with hefty Invoice in previous ownership to renew all four Brakes and Discs. Bonus. Always the pessimist, no matter what the "history" or previous owner tells me, first opportunity I get I check the brakes on any used car I buy. Brakes are important and history and word of mouth is no guarantee of a job well done. The previous owner entrusted this job to the outfit he always uses and no doubt they used very powerful power tools on the wheel Bolts when fitting the wheels after the brake renewal job. I had to use a five foot scaffold pole off cut and my big boy 3/4" Breaker Bar and best quality Impact hex-sockets ( never use bi-hex twelve point sockets ) all my fifteen stone to undo jumping on the pole to release all twenty 17mm Alloy Wheel Bolts. I actually took an image of the set up before releasing the bolts. Most made an audible crack when they let go. There really is no need to over tighten fasteners silly tight. Lazy to just power tool them silly tight to be "on the safe side". One of my pet hates this over tightening stuff by power tool ab/use in the pro-workshop environment. It is widespread in my experience. Yes, torquing them to the correct value will take more time but, doing that means I will be coming back for more for jobs I do not fancy doing myself. Sometimes I have been quoted very reasonable charges for a job I could do myself, so reasonable not worth me getting the tools and axle stands out and getting my hands dirty. Another pet hate, using rim clip balance weights hammered onto nice alloy wheels. I bought four new tyres and watched from the waiting room as they fitted the new tyres onto my newly refurbished alloy wheels. He was just about to hammer rim-clip balance weight to my nice newly refurbished wheels when I jumped up and shouted STOP. Just in time. He understood my reaction. In the box alongside the rim clip balance weights, the correct self-adhesive ones. d'OH! Had I had a puncture, the tool kit the car came with could no way enable me to change a wheel. It was a real struggle using the heavyweight kit and extension pole. The tool kit will work now though. Keep this good spanner work stuff coming. Really appreciate them.

Scott, are the front hubs on the correct sides, They look like they bolt onto the steering knuckle, If you swap them over they would have the arrows on the centre nut going with the rotation of the wheels.

When the posts start turning on your rod ends or ball joint ends. Look at the end of the post/thread itself. Most have either a squared off tip, or an open end for an Allen key.... That way you can hold the post stationary and use a spanner to loosen the bolt mate. Hope this helps ya

If you put it where you lift the breaker bar to loosen put your floor jack underneath. ONLY for EXTREME cases and it is not really the safest thing to do but it has saved me one or two times

Always use an impact gun with track rod end ball joints (after wire brushing & WDing the threads to reduce drag), a lot of the time you don't even need a splitter fork (but you can use it if it does release early) 😉

@Ratarossa How much you fetch for it is going to depends on the quality of your build/resto. I really think if you do it right it will see 1M. You have all the parts mostly. It's a lot of labor, and paint etc.. but you should be able to do this way under 100k I think. These are great margins, a no brainer.
