Another video I recommend is from ModernGurlz, where she talks about the shit Michael Bay put Megan through. His audition process for her was having to wash his car while he filmed her doing so. How she was labeled “difficult” and fired when she spoke out against him. And how she felt excluded by her female peers due to internalized misogyny and the reputation forced on her.

@@epicplayer6224 not in the slightest. The original cartoon was made in the 80s and the big thing that was happening was the cold war. So the story of transformers was very cold war itself. Two mega empires having a bit of a punch up and earth just happened to be stuck in it. It was very mujahideen, only instead of the cia working in secret the two empires are overtly in a dumb overly long conflict. In transformers animated the big thing going on in the world was the war on terror, small bands of vengeful rebels who lost their last big war and are now trying to topple civilization as we know it. With that the Autobots are actually the ones in charge, however with the patriot act and war crimes commited by the the leaders it's clear that the problems don't end when you beat the decepticons. So after the end of third season our heroes were going to have to end corruption within their own government!!!! Then it was cancelled Transformers prime: this one's simple. Fossil fuels ran out on Cybertron so the Autobots and decepticons are fighting for it on earth IDW: what has been going on in america the last decade? People attacking eachother and the government to get what they want. The pre war world of the idw comics is that there's an unfair cast system on Cybertron. Megatron sets out to stop it but goes power mad, and Optimus is 'the good cop'. The only commie there I see is Megatron RID: the war is over but there's a bunch of small prisoners who trying to rise the decepticon flag again. Meanwhile the cybertronian council is actually filled with decepticons who are trying to kill off all the Autobots and conquer Cybertron from within. I can't pin anything directly to that, but if I were: it's neo nazis. 2015 was when meme politics came to a head and it all became tumblr vs 4chan. Not to mention the corrupt council was a pretty late game reveal and could have been thought of after trump was in office. Anything I haven't yet mentioned just follows g1 broadly with not much variation. They maybe add a new mugffin Decepticons are commies Hope this was helpful

Incidentally, there was an episode of Transformers Prime where Optimus lost his memory and Megatron took advantage of this by tricking him into thinking he's a Decepticon. And later Optimus is all "Um, why are we called DECEPTicons?" and Megatron tells him it's propaganda from the Autobots and now they've reclaimed the name because "If speaking the truth is deception, we are gladly guilty". Obviously he's lying, but in some continuities, that's more or less the canon reason behind the name, though it came from the Council rather than the Autobots.

@@ringwormboy1575The attacks on September 11th, 2001, was 20 years ago. The war it started is syill ongoing, and a lot of people aged 18 - 20 are fighting and dying in that war. A lot of them weren't even born when it happened. I don't know how much more clearly I can explain that.

@@t__v That part was inspired by the story a Navy SEAL told to Bay where he was in the same situation in Grenada in 1983(it's in the Blue-Ray commentary). It's funny how the most accurate part of the movie is completely unrelated to everything else.

One canon reason for “deceptions” I’ve seen is that it was originally a political party on cybertron mocking the lies and deception that had befallen the government and pledging to fight it, thus “conning” the “deceptors”. Although I doubt we’ll ever see anything like that in a transformer movie at this rate lol

And in the rebooted IDW line, "Decepticon" was originally an insult against Megatron's party, the Ascenticons, by their opponents to say that they were liars. Then they took the name and proudly adopted it, with Megatron claiming the name now represents how they deceived their opponents into thinking they were weaker than they really were.

Half of the movie in the video was cut because his camera died half way and you can hear all their audio throughout the movie on Patron without cuts

One of the very few actually cool moments out of all of these movies. I’m pretty sure this first movie is only watchable because it’s the only movie in this franchise that Michael bay showed the most menial amount of restraint lol.

Ok so the reason that the deceptions are called deceptions varies from timeline to timeline, but the strongest reason is that when Metatron and optimus joined together to revolt against the cybertronian government and their unjust caste system, who were enslaving the cybertronians, they were branded “decepticons” by the quintesons. And megatron and the rest of the revolutionaries adopted that name as a way of owning the meaning of the word. So technically optimus was a decepticon as well. Once optimus decided that megatron had gone too far he split and made the name “autobots”. Edit: there are also some continuities where the after Megatron already rose up against the cybertronian government, he was exposed to be after total control, so the exiled him and branded them deceptions.
