@@KillahMate It honestly kind of fascinates me just how cynical of a director Michael Bay is. Like, there isn't even any reason for this cynicism, it's not like he's trying to make some sort of point. I mean the guy specializes in summer popcorn fair, and yet his cast of characters always seem to be involve a protagonist that he himself hates and doesn't put an ounce of effort into getting the audience to like him, a love interest where every shot makes it clear she's nothing but eye candy and a cast of every annoying stereotype and caricature you can think of. Looking at his earlier work, it makes me appreciate just how charismatic the likes of Nic Cage, Will Smith and Ewan McGregor were that they were able to overcome Bay's cynicism.

I think they mentioned it in the tie-in comics that he saved some alien on his way and that's why his energon dried up because of the extra energy consumption. They could have taken ONE SECOND to mention this in the movie so that optimus wouldn't have looked like an idiot but they didn't.

I think it’s hilarious how transformers were supposed to be this well kept big secret. Like as far as the world was concerned. The Fallen announcing himself on TV was their big reveal. Yet, transformers were just out fighting in the revolutionary war, and the war of the coalition, and alongside King Arthur. Like, they were posing for pictures. Artists made paintings of them. How did a soldier not go home in the 1700s and go “The war was brutal Mary. By the way, France has a giant metal demon fighting for them”

I love how Optimus Prime had always been saying “I’ll kill you” or “We’ll kill them all” but then 27:59 flips it 😂

Steve Jablonsky really had no right to go as hard as he did for the Transformers movies but he DID and I'm so glad for it.

Honestly, his music is too good for these movies. Like the music is so cool and inspires so much emotion, but the movie does nothing to actually match the emotion implied by the music. So in that way, the soundtrack is great as music, but not so much as a score. Like the music will be grand and emotional. But then the stuff on screen does nothing to reflect that, so it ends up feeling like the music is trying to compensate rather than elevate. This is what i like about rise of the beasts' music. While the compositions aren't as impressive as Jablonsky's per se, they're a lot more apropriate for the emotion the film intends for us to feel.

@@giovonniiclayton 1 is the one I'm closest to liking, and parts of 3 and 4 are entertaining. The film series overall is embarrassing for me to look back on. The racist/crass humor hasn't aged well and the action (while spectacular) is messy and cluttered. All films in the series have bits of that. What makes me despise the films is the stigma around them. When I meet someone irl and they learn I like Transformers, the movies always come up. When I say I'm a diehard Transformers fan, I'm saying I like multiple series about cool robots with goofy names having a political conflict with equal parts cosmic horror themes or looney tune esqe humor or genuinely touching character moments. But in general, the public just associates Transformers with low-brow humor, hard to follow action, and shoddy filmmaking. I like some of the edgy film designs and the music by Steve Jablonsky always slaps, but the rest just makes me cringe.

I grew up watching the movies as a kid, and I will admit they do have nice action sequences, music, etc., but there’s so much against them that I just don’t really care for the Bayverse as a whole. Hell, I infinitely prefer the reboot timeline with BB and ROTB, like at least they got rid of most of what made the Bayverse intolerable

I’ve heard that the Bumblebee movie was originally supposed to be about Bumblebee fighting the Nazis in WW2 but after the Last Knight bombed Bumblebee was reworked into the fun coming of age film we got and also left room to be a jumping off point for a possible reboot, which makes sense considering how much the new movies don’t make sense as canon to the bayverse.

@@demon-goat Yeah I had that question as well and it bothered me. I had to ask some friends who were more knowledgeable. But indeed they are not canon despite what some publications might say. From what I’ve gathered Bumblebee was originally suppose to be canon to the bayverse but as time went on it went in its own direction. At this point with how much Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts has deviated from the bay canon I don’t think it can be considered the same universe (unless of course they do some major retcons). I mean all the autobots look completely different and more closely resemble the original Gen 1 designs

He was referring to why the planet has vegetation, separated into pieces connected with cables, and the fact that it's significantly smaller than it was in dark of the moon. Cybertron never looked like that in the previous movies. So, Optimus actually asked a valid question

That is because, when the Space Bridge was destroyed in Dark of the Moon. Half of Cybertron was able to survived the black hole, that sucked half of the Planet. Quintessa destroyed like half of any Planet that’s close to Cybertron. Some of them were organic, that mix with what’s left of Cybertron.

The sheer level of how entirely fucking obliterated our planet would be is so funny that it gets brushed over. Like we have a planet attached to ours? Gravity, fucked, atmosphere likely getting pulled out into space, tides. Humanity is gone in like a decade tops.

Marketed the whole movie around evil Optimus. Evil Optimus proceeds to only show up for the endgame and he's evil for five minutes

The reason Anthony Hopkins yelled in the library was to cover up the sound of him tearing out that page in the book for himself. But if you miss that I can see how watching that would break anyone and it broke me thinking about it out of context 😂😂😂
