    hi Jeff, I have a new pe770 and have watched you videos several times and made notes to follow. I have partitioned the thumb drive to Fat 32 and the computer states the five design files are on it. I plug the USB into the machine, then turn it on and only a P1 with the pocket design appears. Any suggestions? Oh, I have Windows 7 Pro on my laptop. Many thanks.

    I have a Janome 500E I am having great difficulty with transferring designs A from my lap top to the USB stick and then to the machine, its driving me potty. I must admit the UBS sticks are old ones, does that make a difference? I really wish that Janome would include all instructions to their machines. I had a memorycraft 12000 and never had a minutes bother witing designs either to the stick or to the machine. Help...........

    Thank you, I spent a whole morning struggling with this. I made the mistake of putting the files into the EMBR folder without making a subfolder. Much appreciated. I would like to know how to move from screen to screen while doing an embroidery design. An example would be to move to the screen where all the colours are and back again. Another example is to move to the screen where it informs you of which colour is stitching each part of the design.

    This will vary a lot between models of machines. For instance, the screens on the 550 embroidery only, are very different than skyline S9 , and that is very different from the 15,000. So I'm sorry, but I'm not sure how to help with that.

    Hello Jay, I have tried everything in this tutorial and much to my frustration, the embroidery machine STILL can't see any embroidery designs on the USB stick (I tried both 1GB and 8GB sticks) I formatted the stick on the embroidery machine and placed the designs into the correct place as per your diagram and they appear there when I check on the computer. The designs are the correct JEF format. They are not too large for the machine capability. I have the identical machine to the Janome Memory Craft 200E (the Elna EMB81)Please help - I've been at this for the whole day!

I downloaded small free patterns from embroidery designs.com with plans to purchase larger ones I get the hang of it. Each design is 6Kb to 17Kb. Followed instructions on both KZread videos copied and pasted, copy and pasted. Made files. After formatting, Copied onto my 2Gb stick. Put into machine-nothing! Shows I have an ORDF file and a file I had renamed RED after my red memory stick. Tried several times. Screen is a blank except rename and trash as well as the large X Please help!

    That depends on your digitizing software. What I am showing here is NOT how to transfer a picture so that it can be turned into stitches, that's called digitizing and it's a MUCH more complicated process. This video is simply showing you how to transfer the embroidery design onto a memory stick that your embroidery machine can use. In answer to your question though, if your digitizing software will accept vector files such as Adobe Illustrator, SVG, or FCM, then by all means use them! But if your software won't read those types of files, then a high quality jpeg works best.

    The files will still be the same JEF files, but they may be grouped differently or put in different folders. One thing with Janome, when you put a design on your memory stick that is too large for your machine, they will not show up on your machines menu when you load the designs. This is why some people are confused when they put a bunch on designs (say 40 for instance) on their memory stick and they're all in the right place, but only 31 show up. Those other nine are probably too large and thus the machine hides them. If you run a different version of Windows, it may be slightly different in how you get to the folders to start with, but otherwise, the instructions will all be the same.

This is driving me crazy. I thought I had to put my JEF files into documents,emb,embf and the des and now i have to make a new file and not put them into the embf at all !

    If the design is too large for your machine, it will not show up on the machine, even if it is in the right place. If you are seeing some of the designs and not others and they are all in the same folder, then some designs are either to large or in the wrong format.

  • @AStitchinTimeBemidji

    @AStitchinTimeBemidji

    9 жыл бұрын

    Dolly H. Certain machines convert the Jef files into JBF to use them so it automatically does it when you insert the stick into the machine. You don't need to worry about them, just transfer the JEF files like normal and the machine will take care of them itself. One thing of note, when inserting a card/USB stick into the machine that has a bunch of designs on it that the machine hasn't "seen" yet, give it a couple minutes to look at all the designs and convert them before ejecting the card. That will help prevent corrupting the memory stick. The newer machines don't do that as they are designed to read and run on JEF directly.

    If you have a Brother machine, it will show the pes files after you unzip it. Click it open then choose the exact file you want to use. It may come in different pattern sizes, so you'll need to choose the size you need. Just highlight it, copy and paste it into your usb.

    So is it true I can only use a 1-2 GB USB drive?

  • @AStitchinTimeBemidji

    @AStitchinTimeBemidji

    7 жыл бұрын

    On certain machines, that is true. It will depend on how new, and what version machine you have. You don't NEED the larger sizes (4-16 GB) as the embroidery designs are very small, but the ones over 1 GB do read and write faster if your machine will read them at that speed. So while we don't need the space of the larger ones, their speed is a bonus, but only if your embroidery machine is capable of reading them. Does that make sense?

    Hi Jef...thank you so much for this very informative video. I am brand new at this and it helped A LOT. I have searched for info on another problem I'm having and can't find anything and have spent all day with it. I hope you can help me. I just bought some embroidery designs by JuJu which were sent to me via email in zipped files. I was able to download and unzip but am having trouble transferring the monogram file to usb. I was able to trnsf one letter but was wondering if it is possible to transfer the whole alphabet design all at once? I have the Janome 9900. Thank you.

    Ok....I finally asked my son who does web design if he could help. (I didn't think he would be of any help with embroidery software...seriously?!) Well, he was able to help me....the problem was that I was trying to add a sub-folder for my designs, i.e., I set up a folder for "MONOGRAMS" and then set up a sub-folder for each design within the MONOGRAM folder. My embroidery machine couldn't read that sub-folder. So I have to set up a separate folder for each monogram alphabet design in order to copy to the usb. Being new at this, after watching your video and seeing how you were demonstrating how to set up files I didn't realize that was for a computer only and wouldn't work on an embroidery machine. Did I mention that I am brand new at this?? I have to do some more figuring on this....and review your video again for the 4th time.

    Just remember, the JEF files have to go in a certain folder. So when you plug in your USB to a computer, you should double click on the EMB folder to open it, then double click on the folder you were to create in the video, then you should have your files in there. That is the only way they will show up in the Janome
