Trans America Trail: Trapped in the Oregon Mountains

After escaping the fires in Oregon, I got trapped in the mountains just hours from finishing the TAT. In this video I share that struggle and also reveal my next destination...Africa!
Enjoy and don't forget to subscribe and comment if you have questions or stories of your own riding in Oregon or the TAT.

    That gate was locked in 2017, dragged my 690 under it, little easier than your bike. The rock slide was passable for the 690 at that time, not anymore. Congratulations 👍👍👍.

    Thanks so much! I bet is was still tough dragging your bike (emotionally and physically lol). I've watched a few videos of others having to do it there too...and folks making it through that rock slide section in prior years. Thanks again for watching and the kind words!

    Another great video. Would've never thought of dragging the bike under that gate. A ride like that would be heaven for me, absolutely spectacular. Be nice to see a video on the setup of your bike. Great job Lee.

    Thank you so much! Yep, it was either dragging it under or backtracking way too far. I hope you get a chance to enjoy some or all of the TAT on your bike. As for the setup of my bike, I think I will do a video on it before too long...something like 'Everything I Brought on the TAT'. Thanks again for the kind words!

    Good job getting that done on the ole 1150! I remember that gate at 3:27. We took luggage off, slid it under the bar and went down in the trees and made the vertical climb on my ktm 950s and my sons triumph 800 tiger xc

    Roughly what section is the slide located?

  • @lkandlbinder

    @lkandlbinder

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@kwacker44 It is on the last section of GPS Kevin's route, less than two hours from the end of the trail. Once you come to the slide, just look at your gps and you'll see a very easy alternate route. Turn around, go down the hill and make a turn and you'll be good to go. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

    Very nice, beautiful way to finish Lee. Keep up the great work! (Expect maybe that might have been a Lynx (or 2) yelling at each other?)

    That rockfall area has really changed. We were able to take off panniers and ride through there in September of 2019. I was just comparing your video to our pictures. Definitely not doable anymore!.

    Same observation. Went through carefully in 2019. 2 DR650s, a 690, 800GS, and AT1000. Cool to see how it’s changed.

    It's my pleasure Angel and thanks for watching! As for footage storage, I had three 256gig micro sd cards...(one for each gopro and one for the drone). I would back up those files each night (or at least that was my plan) onto an external hard drive using only my phone to do the copy. I'm not sure how many gigs of footage I got but I would say having one SD card for each camera and backing those up often onto a different hard drive is a good way to go (I actually lost a lot of footage when I lost two SD cards on this trip). Hope this helps. Thanks again for watching and I hope you subscribe and watch my adventures here in Africa!

    Was that Kevin's or Sam's route that took you to those gates?

  • @lkandlbinder

    @lkandlbinder

    2 жыл бұрын

    It was Kevin's but it could also be on Sam's as there is a lot of shared routes between the two...one option is to not go around any closed gates you come to up there...just turn around and find a different route. You'll still find some real great roads to enjoy if you do that. Thanks for watching Lee...I never met a Lee I didn't like :)
