5:35 I find it kind of strange that Daisy was replaced with Diesel in the episode. Especially when the narrator says 'Diesel knew nothing about trucks.' With Daisy it makes more sense though I guess you could say Diesel doesn't know how to handle trucks probably given his previous experiences.

I’ve always been confused about the location wise in the shed scene from Percy’s ghostly trick. It’s unclear weather Percy was coming into the shed from in front or behind Thomas and Toby, I mean when Thomas leaves it looks like his shed door behind him is the one Percy was coming through, but still it’s hard to tell.

Y'know, I was thinking about how the only female engines in The Railway Series (Daisy, Mavis and later Pip & Emma) were all diesels, and I couldn't help but wonder if it was all a very deliberate nod to modernization - y'know, how running a railway was likely perceived to be a male thing, but just like diesels were proving their worth, so were female workers? Maybe I'm overthinking this, but it does still strike me.

I don't think it was intentional, especially since all except Mavis are DMU's rather than full engines, but that's a good theory!

There actually is a female engine in the railway series. In the book Thomas and the great railway show there’s a red engine on the right side of the illustration. Her name is duchess of Hamilton and she’s a real engine

Very good. Is this the final one of these? I believe Percy travels backwards through the shed in Ghost Train as he has a tail lamp on the front and the steam in the illustration suggests it is moving towards rather than away.

In ghost train I know how Percy glided through the sheds(in front of Thomas and Toby). Percy reversed from the front of the sheds and glided through it to the other side behind Thomas and Toby. And Toby’s crew quickly shut the door right after. Hope that helped clear things up Also in wooly bear, I think Toby was glaring at Percy and not Thomas. It makes sense that Toby would be annoyed with Percy in this story because he teases him for his accident later on. It wouldn’t make sense for him to be mad at Thomas and then tease Percy in that story

“Really useful engines” is the 27th book of the railway series and was first published in 1983. It was the first to be written by the son of the Rev .w. Awdrey, christopher Awdrey, and the first to be illustrated by Clive Spong. Eleven years later two of the books four short stories where adapted during season four of Thomas and friends. How faithful were these adaptations? Let’s spot the differences. You should definitely try that one!

It is quite strange to have used Diesel instead of Daisy for the tv series. Daisy didn’t appear in Series 3. The tv creators probably didn’t see a valid reason to use Daisy for a small part of one episode in Series 3. Diesel reappeared in Series 3 for Diesel does it again. Thomas, Percy and Toby should have been skeptical, when Daisy and Mavis arrives in the island, due to the engines encounter with Diesel.

I did like how Mavis used fudge in the railway series and fiddlesticks in the tv series. Due to fudge is a strong terminology to F word and inappropriate for a children book. Fudge is a common word to censor the F word. The railway series was from the 1940s to the 1960s and the tv series, when railway series stories was adapted into tv series, was from the 1970s to the 1990s.
