Further differences concerning 'Double Header'/Time For Trouble. In the book the narrator informs us that Toby is heading to the Works by order of the Fat Controller, and that Percy would take care of Henrietta, but in the episode we see these moments play out as they happen once Toby puts down James's statement; the indication with the book therefore is that Toby had already set out on his journey to being repaired when James comes across him. Also in the book Toby worries about Henrietta's feelings while they are separated, and clearly Percy and Henrietta were brought up again in the episode as a short cut to give them more screen time, when logically they should have just been shown working on Thomas's branch line, with Percy comforting Henrietta entirely unaware about Toby being stranded. @@samuelfarris1949 Yes, it's standard practice for the guard (or in this case the fireman) to place detonators on the rails to warn the driver of the train behind that there is a *Train in Section* and therefore should prepare to stop. It's still in today's rules: I saw a video from last year of one of the new Class 755 units that needed recovering from Wymondham, Norfolk. The Class 37 loco that had been sent to rescue it ran over the detonators there.

Another difference, as evidenced by Annie and Clarabel's chanting - in the book, Thomas arrives just in the nick of time (I hope we're not late, it isn't quite eight), whereas in the episode, he is actually a few minutes late (I hope we're not late, as it's just after eight). Which does make TFC's scolding of Thomas in one but not the other a little more glaring. TV Thomas: (arrives late) Topham: It's cool, whatevs. Book Thomas: (arrives just in time) Topham: THOMASDIDYOUPUTYOURNAMEINTHEGOBLETOFFIRE!!??

Gordon's line "I like a good long run to stretch my wheels" from *Time For Trouble* is taken directly from *Gordon Goes Foreign,* thus providing some context for James taking over from Gordon.

Percy actually talks to Bill and Ben at Brendam Docks specifically in the episode.

"HA! HA!" said James.

I read the book as a kid, and as a result Jinty and Pug are engrained into my memory. I remember feeling cheated when watching the show and seeing them recycling existing side characters. I get that they needed to save money on the models, but the crew could’ve used spare shells of Thomas and Percy, made single faces for each and sprayed the models black.

Spot the differences, duck and gordon talk before the special engine, so his line is changed to "king cross! London's paddington! What rubbish!", At the end, Sir Toppham Hatt meets Gordon at the station in the book. Whilst he meets gordon in the sheds in the episode

Fun fact: Thomas and the special letter was the 100th episode of the show!

I bugs me how they thought the missing coach would be too confusing for children, but think it’s completely fine to put Percy takes the Plunge well before Percy’s promise. Now that to me along with many others was confusing when I was a childhood and I have I missed something and was wondering what an earth Percy was going on about at the time because it hasn’t happened. That itself is extremely confusing and I don’t know what they were thinking at the time.

About percy taking trucks to the other railway this is a theory but the yard could be the yard of barrow and furness because all the trains run from tidmoth to barrow and there is a engine shed there and is still the fat controllers property so they could be there so thats why Henry says that because it could be barrow

Gordon goes. Foreign was canceled it, and it got cut twice.

Also I wonder why Gordon Goes Foreign was cancelled as an episode even though it was planned but never once happened that's just strange but whatever.
