About percy taking trucks to the other railway this is a theory but the yard could be the yard of barrow and furness because all the trains run from tidmoth to barrow and there is a engine shed there and is still the fat controllers property so they could be there so thats why Henry says that because it could be barrow

My theory towards James arriving with the vans instead of coaches, in the TV episode of 'Better Late than Never', was to give Thomas some goods supplies for him to take down his branch line. But still it would have made more sense for him to arrive with coaches full of passengers. Also, did you notice in the episode that Henry didn't have coaches nor anything behind him at all, despite the fact he was supposed to be giving Thomas his passengers? That is really strange.

While Smudger and Stanley (MSR#2) are completely different (i.e., Smudger is a repaint of Rheanas with a different face), I can understand where the team was coming from. After all, there's only so much you can do when you have small budget and creating functioning (albeit troublesome) narrow gauge engine models is no easy task. This is also why I can understand the exclusion of the miniture railway until the series transitioned from physical models to computer animation. Basically, the smaller the model, the more challenging it is to work with, hence the restriction regarding just how small a physical model can be made. However, with CGI there are far fewer size restrictions, which means that issues like jamming siderods and lost screws aren't an issue. Therefore, when combined with a much larger budget, more and smaller characters can be included.

David Mitton said the replacement for The Missing Coach was Thomas, Percy, and the Coal. Many fans are of the view this is a Mandela effect on his part given that the story is technically complex for a replacement, and moreover it is thought that the entire series’ worth of shots were filmed on each set. Therefore many fans have surmised that it is Better Late Than Never as a replacement for these reasons, but I have seen other theories that suggest Percy Takes The Plunge.

Not to be direspectful, but Sir Handel is not purple. Instead, he's sapphire blue, which remained unaltered in the TV series so that it was easier for children to tell the narrow gauge engines apart. This principle was also applied to Peter Sam (forest green), Duncan (yellow ochre), Rusty (orange), Duke (russet brown), Rheanas (vermillion) and Skarloey (scarlet).

In my opinion, some of the changes made in the TV series made sense since there's more which can be done with animation than with live action and physical models. This is especially true for computer animation given the software which now available. Also, it's important to remember that David Mitton and Robert Cardona carried their experience from working on Tugs over to Thomas and Friends to help refine the scenery and model work. As for Thomas being sceptical about City of Truro not noticing the Sudrian engines, I can't really blame him since the Sudrian steam engines are still working engines. This means that they are required to complete a variety of tasks throughout the day, which often results in them getting dirty and becoming quite weathered.

I read the book as a kid, and as a result Jinty and Pug are engrained into my memory. I remember feeling cheated when watching the show and seeing them recycling existing side characters. I get that they needed to save money on the models, but the crew could’ve used spare shells of Thomas and Percy, made single faces for each and sprayed the models black.

Having rewatched the classic model series, it's likely that some of the changes were made due to budgetary constraints, which meant working with what they had available at the time. Also, it could be that episodes "Steamroller" and "Special Funnel" were intended to be released after "Gallant old engine" (just a guess). Finally, there will always creative differences when making adaptaions (e.g., emphasing that Sodor is a completely different location) and when working with physical models, details like winks aren't easy to include, especially when the models are tiny to ensure everything is to scale.
