I like how you didn't highlight the "works unit only" sign.

"Donkey Box"? Yes, motorway starts where the sign is but Highways England Officers have, by law, the right to stop and direct traffic on "roads affecting and serving the motorway network". So..the donkey box.. is YOUR truck, you silly man.

You've come to a stop right opposite an access road. Why would you not think that was a dumb place to stop? The training for HGV's says you must not pull off on to an unmade section or verge. The risks are obvious. This guy needs retraining.

Every truck driver knows the rules and the consequences for breaking them, and you cannot blame anyone for trying to talk their way out of situations. However, as professional drivers they should be held to the same or higher standards, and the penalties should be strictly enforced.

If this is the slip road to the works just after the A630 turn off to Doncaster (again) - go to next junction - A638 -- take a left at the roundabout towards Doncaster, and you'll see a SAFE area in which to park FOR FREE with a small roadside cafe and room to turn your big ass around in -- time to next junction is less than 5 mins!

For those of you who are unaware of the EC tacho regulations. The law ALLOWS drivers to drive to a safe stopping place i.e a motorway/dual carriageway service area if 4h 30m driving time cannot be avoided because of a road traffic accident or a sudden road closure. This is classed as an unforseen circumstance. The reason for the circumstance MUST be written on the back of the drivers analogue paper disc or digicard receipt and signed/dated and then kept in a diary incase of an inspection. To prevent a breach of 4h 30m driving from happening as a regular occurance a professional drivers journey from A-B can be broken up by service stations or truck/coach parking area along the route. If your journey takes 4 hours driving time or slightly more to drive and your not confident if you can do it in one stint. You can easily use a concise road atlas to locate a service station marked as 'S' on the map that sits roughly around half-way inbetween your A-B journey so you can spend 45 minutes there instead of risking it. Or, you can find two service stations and spend 15 minutes at the first stop, then 30 minutes at the second stop. In my experience of doing this job. There is no need to do what this

A few comments on here saying he's doing it in on purpose, maybe he is and maybe he's not but at least he's highlighting the fact that the UK is a joke when it comes to parking HGVs.
