    "Cursor follows Edit Position" is a welcomed mode and a nice nod to the popular and classic Pro Tools option "Link Timeline and Edit Selection", but I think one little detail was missed in S1 with this - in Pro Tools when you're in the mode 'Link Timeline and Selection', PT ignores automation node clicks as selections and so your cursor isn't jumping around like crazy while you're editing clips and notes including automation. This is a great mode to work in, but when it includes every little automation node click, its not very efficient or helpful. Since this mode was added most likely to approximate this PT way of working I think this detail should be refined in Studio One. Thanks for the videos!

Here's an unusual question for you: Remember the old analogue desk days when you'd make a chinagraph pencil mark to show the beginning point of the fader when mixing? Is there a way of using some sort of marker on Studio 1 to indicate the start point of a fader, so we don't forget it? Thanks.

    Why is there a visual delay with some plugins in studio one? For example, iZotope Neutron 3's frequency analyzer in the EQ section follows playback with some lag (visual only), so that when playing a drum loop, it shows a kick drum bump when a snare drum is playing and vice versa.

  • @presonus

    @presonus

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi Emotionz22, good suggestion, thanks! I'll take some notes. :) In the meantime, try selecting your midi notes and then pressing Shift + S (default keyboard shortcut for "Zoom to Selection"). This will achieve the "zooming in on the midi notes with one click of a button" behavior that you were asking for. What you can also try is lock the zoom state of your Editor to the zoom state of your Arrangement. See here: www.dropbox.com/s/hymoq43cjwfbui4/Screenshot%202020-03-08%2009.11.07.png?dl=0 One more thing you might not be aware of yet is that Studio One remembers the last zoom state you had for each individual MIDI event. -GBY

    @@Emotionz223 select your MIDI notes and press Shift+S on your keyboard. Let me know what that does for you! ...and yes, randomizing velocity is very much possible now - in every kind of way you can imagine! Simply click on the Macro Toolbar symbol and from there, go to the "Note Actions" (or "Musical Editing") page. Then, select a couple of notes and click on these buttons that you see in the Toolbar! Dare to experiment..;) Even randomizing pitches (while keeping the selected scale) is just one click away since version 4.5, thanks to Macros...you can do mindblowing things with that. Hi E. Hall, not sure if I understand your question correctly, but you can explode pitches to tracks with any MIDI event in Studio One - no matter whether the MIDI track containing these events is assigned to an Impact XT, Sample One XT, or other. After doing so, each note value will be placed on its own midi track with independent piano roll. From there you can move the sound up and down the scale freely. -GBY

    Im not understanding why all of these cant be set as defaults within preferences. Why should one have to set “ show input controls” on EVERY TRACK! Makes no sense at all. Something you’re going to want every time should be default setting enabled. Its good to have the wrench tool but lets make it all make sense. Half of these should be global settings controlled through the preference menu.

    Maybe I'll come back to SO someday. Needs a ton of work first, though. Some of the design choices are just plain lazy.

    All that is great, and I love S1. My fave daw! But you didn't ad "no overlap when editing", (a basic function that was asked for years, for hundreds of people on your request page) until a couple of versions ago. And another basic function that has been asked too and nothing yet is to give the option of having "layers follow events" Off as default. How hard can be to ad that in a software like S1, that does the must advanced things in the world? That thing creates a huge mess in the layers you are not seeing if you forget to turn it off. And if you have it off and you duplicate the track, S1 turns it on again in the new track! Why!? That doesn't make any sense! I'm not the only one asking for this, check your request page, lots of professional people are asking for it since 2016! Please give us the option of having "layers follow events" off as default! Please!

    FEATURES REQUEST? VIDEO OPTIONS IS WAY OUT OF STEP WITH OTHER DAWS. C'mon guys... Logic Pro for video makes S1 look amateur - this should've been done years ago.

    Nobody wants to hear this.. studio one is one of the worst daws ever. You all dont listen to customer feedback. We been asking for sound on sound recording for years still no luck.

    Hi James, what makes you say that? Studio One absolutely has sound on sound recording. Sound on Sound recording lets you record without erasing the existing part. This is totally possible in Studio One. -GBY
