Heck, if Toyota doesn’t want to build it, Honda should. They have a good platform for the same kind of small truck. Build it off the CRV hybrid chassis. Bring back the Element, too. Wake-up, Honda.

Honda has not shown interest in those smaller and hybrid trucks (a Maverick fighter) which are often used for commercial purposes and fleets. That's a business they feel devalues their brand appeal and resale.

Toyota needs to get rolling with this Stout. Speaking of compact trucks, I don’t see why even other manufacturers like Nissan, Subaru, and Honda aren’t making it. Nissan could bring back the Sunny pickup, Subaru could bring back the Baja, and Honda could come up with something. I really wonder why car manufacturers would sleep on a market with such profit potential.

There's also all sorts of tiny cab forward trucks from other Japanese and Asian manufacturers from Suzuki to Mitsubishi.

It won't take long to develop, not much re-engineering at all. It's a Civic afterall. With a slightly longer wheelbase than a regular civic, for the perfect truck proportion. 2 inches or 2 feet longer, maybe, whichever you like. With a wide-range of powertrain options : 3 Liter INLINE-6 gasoline, 3 Liter INLINE-6 DIESEL, 3 Liter INLINE-6 DIESEL hybrid, N/A / turbo / twin, quad, OCTA-turbo, PHEV, HFC, BEV, Turbine (like M1 Abrams), Jet, Pico-nuclear electric propulsion, Free-Energy Perpetual Engine (flat-earther's favorite) , Garbage-burning steam engine, If you mass-produce that thing it will be the biggest selling Honda in history, it'll kill Ridgeline's marketshare though but that's OK.

I don't think I speak for myself that there is plenty of room on the market for the SMALL pickup..... I am aware that thew IMV 0 will never make it to the US, but they would not have to start from scratch... justt my 2 cents.

Because there's BYD hybrid pickup truck, there's no need for Toyota's pickup truck any more. Currently Toyota buys BYD batteries and hybrid technologies.

The market doesn’t need another car pretending to be a truck and I think Toyota knows that. Yes, they do need to make a small truck like the original Tacoma, body on frame and no frills to keep the cost down. Hey Toyota!!! Go back to making reasonably priced and highly reliable vehicles. I just paid $700 to replace the drivers side tail light on my 2022 Tundra because the blinker failed and I’m pissed. Someone at Toyota is dropping the ball, instead of a $5 bulb you have to change the whole assembly, what the hell are you thinking. Sorry for the rant Kirk but you have Toyota’s ear, let them know. I know you guys love all this fancy tech there putting in the vehicles but it does come at a cost that many just can’t afford.

The car industry has spent decades conditioning buyers to want "bigger" (and of course, more expensive) trucks. I am convinced that Toyota is not moving into this market because it does not want to change consumers' buying patterns. If a large chunk of "truck people" suddenly realize that a Stout can do most of what their Tacoma or Tundra can do, that is very bad news for Toyota's bottom line. I can't think of any other reason that they are allowing Ford a virtual monopoly on the segment; it does not take years to develop a small truck when they already have the Corolla or RAV4 platform to work with.

Not to say the Stout could origami itself larger, a small truck can't move large payloads which is what many people buy it for plus "luxury" trims. The dream stout I picture is an affordable, long range, small PHEV truck that WOULD cater to a proven void in the domestic offerings. Still no grounds to argue, nothing is concrete . . But also look at the Toyota KZread community channel post . . Notice a throwback there??
