We drive the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 Series and see what this full-size 4WD is like.
The Toyota Land Cruiser 200 Series is right at the end of its life, but this large off-road wagon is still more than worthy of a close look. Quickly firming as a modern classic, the 200 Series will likely be the final Land Cruiser to use a V8 engine. In Australia, it’s a twin-turbo V8 diesel only, through the related Lexus LX offers a petrol V8 as well.
As we await the imminent arrival of the 300 Series Land Cruiser, should you still consider a 2021 Land Cruiser 200 Series diesel over a Nissan Patrol or even something like a Range Rover? Is this the vehicle for you?
In today’s video, John takes a detailed look at a well-specified Land Cruiser Sahara 4x4 to give you detailed insights about this vehicle.

    Choice between Landrover Defender and Toyota 200 for the same money? Hmmm...I'll have the Toyota, please. It's not, nor has it ever been, a question of luxury for money. It's about reliability and durability. Something the new Defender is not (yet, and maybe never will be) known for.

    Reminds me of the old Texas one where the guy said, "There's lots of Landrovers on the road............... Where their owners left 'em. My take is. A. The Toyota Land Cruisers are bought because they are, 1.reliable, 2. 'high status' for drivers in (& around) their demographic, 3. perfect for the bush and outback. 4.Dealers are everywhere & if not, Land Cruisers 5. have plenty who can fix 'em, 6. The Traditional Style is itself a badge of honour - almost crying, "don't change me". 7. Big Corporates and Miners love them for what they are. 8. No shocks when you buy one, because all that's old stays the same because 9 Owners believe in them - & cherish the notion, & 10. In a social setting esp in the Bush, no-one but no-one 'one ups' a bloke who own a Toyota Landcruiser! END OF STORY. And re any iteration of the Landrover, enough said and the 1 to 10 do not apply to this make, especially in the Aussie bush.{ps.I've never driver either - just my best guess}

    I didn’t hear “towing” mentioned at all in this review? Many of the purchasers of 200 Land Cruiser (with that superb V8 twin turbo diesel) would be “grey nomads” towing a caravan.

    Absolutely, towing is in its breeding, I owner a 2015 Mitsubishi Pajero it used 14 - 16 liters per 100 kms without towing anything, I’m getting the same towing a 3t caravan with my Landcruiser, I’m not sure where John of saying is a fuel guzzler, I get around 850+ kms per tank towing depending on road conditions, hills and wind, I’m more than happy with that figure 😀

    Yep I love my 200 series. I’m only towing a 2T caravan. It tows that with absolute ease. I could have got away with a dual cab Ute, but having the ‘Cruiser allows me to upgrade the ‘van if we want to, without having to also shell out for a new tow vehicle. The ‘Cruiser is also a pleasure to drive with that V8 burble!

    anyone know why aussie spec cruisers front end suspension is relatively lower than the rear? It's like an invisible elephant is sitting on the bonnet. US spec look level as do the LX570's. I imagine it's for towing, but then why not just automatically raise the rear when something heavy is attached on the rear? As is, it just looks odd. Otherwise, a complete legend of a car and bargain considering it will outlive us all, not to mention those rubbish land rover products.

    Two factors are at play here:- firstly, people were rushing to grab one of the last V8's while they could, and secondly, people can't travel overseas, so are going around Australia instead, so are buying these muthas to get them around. Still third place is rather damn impressive. I wonder how long the 70 series has.

    One thing never mentioned, is the appalling ergonomics of the front seat. At 6’2” your head sits one inch off the roof. The top of the head rest at full extend, just touches the base of your skull. In a frontal or rear end crash, the whiplash would be fatal. A rollover, which based on its high ride height, would be also be fatal. Just pathetic for a new car!

Do you guys watch your videos in say a quiet room before uploading? - Slow-mo on the infotainment and boot opening/closing is meaningless, show it in real time. - Possible to show some interior things that the presenter is talking about?
