Chasing Cars

Tom Baker and the team at Chasing Cars produce Australia's most independent car reviews.

Every weekday, we serve up a new car review or comparison featuring a great range of models on sale in the Australian market. Whether you're looking for a family SUV, a hot hatch, a sleek sedan, sporty coupe or practical wagon - if they build it, we cover it.

We're also publishing in-depth car reviews and car news on our website, plus you're able to sign up for our newsletter: chasingcars.com.au

Cars have never been more complex, and the car industry is changing so fast with electrification and automation making their way in to so many new models.

Come and join us as we explain these changes and advise you on the best new cars to consider and buy - and the ones to avoid.

We'd love you to join the Chasing Cars community by commenting, subscribing and sharing our videos with your family and friends who love cars and need clear, entertaining advice.

Great walk through - glad this exists albeit at a steep price for a small hatch. Naming convention makes more sense than Audi - await full drive to see if has dynamic depth the Mini platform usually lacks.

I'm hopeful, because they did away with the EV Soul in the US market and I hate that. I bought a 2015 Kia Sould, then the following year they had an EV version and I wanted it sooo bad! Ugh, I hate that I couldn't get a Soul EV. Hope I can get an EV3 when it launches in the US.

Give this car the 1.8L hybrid from the Corolla it would sell like hotcakes at a $2000 higher price across the range.....plus direct injection is not good for longevity

This looks like a face lift car with very minimal effort to improve from the previous model. The One series has been a disappointing series since the previous model was introduced. Should have focus on the petrol version and spend more money and time on the vehicle, you’re not doing well on electric cars. You sales volume is low and why would you continue on this direction?

will it have a plug in version later this year? Like the 4x4 plug-in on the x1 ? Or something similar ? Or will it have a mild hybrid with a 4x4 ?

Unfortunately it boils down to the fact that I don't want algorithm assistance, I don't trust assistance, I think it's dangerous and distracting, and therefore this thing defaulting to having assistance on, means it would annoy me every single time I turned the key. Hard pass.

Excellent, thorough review. I've always enjoyed cars over crossovers and would have considered a Mazda3 las December when I was shopping. Things have unfortunately changed for me though - I'm 63 now and injured my knee in September. It'll never be totally right again and now I see the appeal of crossovers - they're easier to get in and out of. My advancing decrepitude appreciates that.😬 Got a Hyundai Tucson. It's alright. Rather soulless and no fun to drive, but at least it doesn't hurt.
