Unreal content rony. I'm from Perth myself living overseas now for work and just built my hilux also. Your videos just get better each time. Keep em coming
Made me laugh when you mentioned GTA and rockstar... Bloody legend.
Hey Ronny thanks mate for the video I been waiting for this one. I needed an expert like yourself to get me set up without me messing up and regretting. you rock brother ❤️ from 🇿🇦
Thanks Ronny. I appreciate your straightforward and transparent presentation style, no BS and no unnecessary flare. Super helpful.
Loving the sensible, semi-budget, minimal lightweight build!!
I bought a set of the Maxxis RAZR AT811s. Done almost 2000km over tarmac, rock and gravel - these tyres are brilliant. Yet to try in mud but I’m confident these will be good. Surprisingly quiet, grippy, improved ride and feel safe in the wet.
the footage in this episode is on another level ronny its so good
SUPERB !!! I am getting a new Hilux and obessing about tire size - definitely best video I have seen on tires for Hilux on the Internet. Huge thank-you. Professional video well done.
Love the Norse Mythology and meanings on both number plates on your vehicles Ronnie!!! Love the content
Went with a set of Maxxis razr MT772's the other week after seeing you video on them. They look good and already impressed me with the grip out of them👌
Awesome video as usual, love your honesty and the format, looking forward to the next instalment
This is the video series I’ve been looking for

keep it simple. and afordable.
I love the fact your doing, as they say, "baby steps". Can't wait to see where you end up!
Great video Ronny I have been slowly building up my triton as it is a daily drive and weekender I look forward to seeing the next instalment
Looking to get into 4wd. Ronny Dahl and 4WD 247 are my go to guy for information. Thanks Ronny💯
As always enjoyed your videos. Advice that is simple and straight to the point. Looking forward to the series as I have a Hilux that is just waiting to be upgraded.
If it wasn't for this channel I'd probably be both in the dog house and in debt. Thank you from America, just bought a 21 Chevy Colorado 4x4. Wasn't sure what to do at first you have helped so much
i have a set 18' ROH Vapour with Maxxis Razor AT 811 on new Hilux SR5. No scrubbing, but less sidewall to play with when deflated. took her for a borp through the sand dunes last night and she had no worries. love the show mate.

hey mate are you running stock height amd what size rims amd offset
Great idea! Love your channel, mate!
Legend Ronny - some of the best Aussie 4x4 content
Love how the luxy is coming along Ronny!
These new wheels and tires look so much better and I love that custom number plate!
Excited to see you using these tires! I recently saw these, and have been thinking I want to set for my 4Runner, but I haven't been able to find anything about them or read about anyone running them( not just here in the US, but really anywhere). Looking forward to seeing more reports on these as how they do.
Hi Ronny! I am watching you from Romania, Europe and I am glad that you have decided to make the video series about Hilux. I am very helpful considering that I want to start a similar project. For now I have an awd car and I try with my girls light terrain. Thanks for the video and inspiration.
Awesome video Ronny, thanks. Waiting for more tunes
Tyres and wheels were my first mods to my dual cab (went 16inch steels and 31.5inch ATs), fortunately had no rubbing. Gotta give credit to this channel for being confident about where to spend the limited funds for where it is most needed. Thanks!

@@kushla I have a Dmax. 265/75 falkens with +25 offset steel rims (can't remember the exact brand of the wheels).
Love the vid Ronny! I have a very similar set up to you, 2018 Toyota Tacoma no lift, I kept the stock 16 inch wheels, and I fit 285/75/R16 Falken all-terrains. I love them they don't rub except for the mud flaps, can't wait to see part 2! Cheers from Vancouver Canada!

The editing was great!Nice vid!
Hey thanks for the gradual build up - it's a realistic way to put a new truck together!👍
Nice, been looking for a no lift kit hilux with upgraded wheels. Now I know what to go for cheers brotha
Very interesting video mate. I learned a lot 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Haha go Ronny !! GTA 4 life!! Love this series bro!! Gday from Sydney !
Hey Ronnie, thanks for weighing the wheels. Every little bit counts, and some things get overlooked. Next time I get to a town I am going to weigh my ute as it is near finished accessorising - tub slide, canopy, dual wheel carrier, extra battery, oven, slide out kitchen, 6 X AT tyres, fridges etc. It will be interesting to see how many kgs leftover if I want to tow something one day !
@kadmow
3 жыл бұрын
Yep the "surplus weight" question- "Do I still have 200kg for Tongue load available?" - many forget to ask themselves, or will a 3000kg trailer put me 800kg over GCM? (BTW a standard 4x4 ute with 1000kg onboard drives like a slug, at 3000kg loaded - they are really not fun any more (unless you really enjoy queue's).
Great video love how the Luxy is looking
Very helpful mate! And nice rego plate too!
Just touching on the rims Torbs was speaking about Grid Offroad make a set of Alloy rims with a load rating of 1650kg. As well as ROH making a set of vapours that carry 1500kg.
Great tires combo! Perfect match for the Hilux
First thing I thought about when I saw the wheels!! GTA !⭐️ And it’s a great looking rim! ❤️🐞
Finally.... been waiting for so long
Damn luxy looks good Can’t wait to see more mods
Hey Ronny, I've shortlisted the 811s for my next tyre so will be interested to hear a follow-up after you've put some kms on them. How did they balance up? Do you think they'd be suitable for an off-road trailer that weighs 800kg fully loaded?
Pro tip, I can go 33"s on my Tacoma with no lift and no cab mount chop if I go skinnies. Depending on how wide of tires you play with, you might be able to go above 31.5"s, but I also realize you like your wider tires :). Worth mentioning as I realize there may be others watching this with Tacoma's and the Tacoma is pretty similar to the Hilux the closer I look(I have a lot more looking to do too).
Great review 👍👍
Hey Ronnie nice video! Will want to see Luxy in person at the perth 4wd show. Where's the prado review that you made a few weeks back?
Hey Ronny, another great video, I know its a late comment, but did a binge watch rerun of this, as first time I watched I was a little tipsy lol. Anyway, i'm an Aussie living in the USA have been watching for yonks. I have a Jeep (I Know!) you made some really great points on the tyres... Everything is a compromise. I have found for someone who is 50/50 driving that the Goodyear Duratrac have been outstanding for me on Wear, Noise and Durability. Awesome Luxy (Taco) build, if only the Yanks would get their crap together and get some diesel options into this country the so called Big 3 (Ford, GM, Ram) would have their work cutout for them... Cheers Wes.
Pretty much exactly what I have done to mine but I chose goodyear duratracs and I couldn't be happier
I think what you are doing with this build is a cool idea. Something I wish I saw more in the overland/off reading community. Sensible builds. Gives those of us without the $$ right now some hope to get out and explore. Cautiously of course. Also, jealous of the Hilux look compared to the Tacoma in the States.
Great video as always...been prepping to change the tires on my Fortuner and would love your advice. How do you feel the E load tires affect lightweight vehicles like ours? What PSI are you running on the bitumen? Confused between a C or E load at the moment.
Good stuff mate, I’m down in Margs and have a Colorado lsx 2020 and I’m looking to change to tyres and rims , but not a lot of info out there. The hi Lux looks good
Love the number plate mate 👍🏽
Well presented as always......
Sold. Going with these on my tacoma. My favorite AT on the market. Cheers from the USA 👊👊🤙🤙
Spotted the tub lid and tie down rack. Saw the rock sliders as well.
Great content!
Nice choice Ronny love how you're switching it up slightly w the ATs and Alloy rims. I guess the spare fit underneath no dramas? Are you going to throw another on the rear lid for extra weight or wait until you add the rear bar?
Hey Ronnie. Wondering if you're still running the Razor At and what you think of them if you are. Thanks for the content too. Learnt so much overnthe years.
Rodney! Keep a 31.5 265 75 R16 you can absolutely tackle anything with a rear locker and winch with this set! I think it's pretty underrated! Remember that you still have to drive to your destination and 33 on a dual cab is slow and pain to fit!

@@initialhaven2414 what did you end up doing? the new 2022 hilux’s come with 18inch rims so i’ll have to go to 17inch on 31.5’s, just seeing how they go with no lift
Loving this as ive just got me a ranger. Will be following for sure. Do you have any advise on wheel spacers?
Starting to look really good.
Looks good mate, so when you do eventually go for the bigger tyres and lift will you be replacing the diff's with the appropriate gear ratios to suit to help with loss of power and excessive fuel use?

That’s what I did to my old N70 too
So far, so good. Like the “easy mods”
Good job. Keep pressing on.
Hi Rony, great videos by the way Do you think a +15 or a +20 offset will be better for less rubbing? Thank you
Ronny could you do a series on how to overland Subarus? I know there are heaps of other dudes doing the same on Subarus, but I like your dumbed down approach for dummies like me and it's really helpful, especially for us in Oz where our environment I'd quite unique
Ronny Dahl is awesome
Love the series and am looking into getting a ute myself! What Hilux trim is your ute? Would you recomend the Hilux over other utes, like the Ford Ranger?
Long awaited for this video. Your openion on Dmax?
Nice wheels and very nice back on the truck.
Ronny did you end up putting the mud flap back on? And also how did you modify the splash guard, about to put exactly the same tire size and rims on my new hilux 😁
Awesome video. What did you do to your mud guards to stop the scrubbing? I’m facing the same issue and I’m running +1 offset Fuel rims w/ 265-60-18 Toyo Open Country AT3

thank you for detail video on tires and wheels setup
this is cool to see a higher budget Hilux build, I'm doing a poor man's budget build on my 06 lux!!
Spot on with the Rock Star games, I'm still a gamer. Good job on the Hilux. The tire guy must be from South Africa with that accent?
The wolf now has some nice new paws!
Great video I was wondering I have the razar AT-811 on my Tacoma, was thinking about stepping up to the razar mt. Hopefully they won’t be to noisy!
'Nice combo Ronny, changes the look for the better. I was on a budget so I stuck with the 18's, and fitted BFG AT's in 265/65/18. No rubbing yet but it is very close. I nearly took the leap with Mickey T's in the Deacon range, as we have got awesome mileage out of them at work. But BFG's have never let me down, been on all my trucks since 1998 and still have plenty of confidence in them. The Maxxis look mean though mate, happy wheeling.
Hi Ronny, one question, why don't you use the beadlock system (rims)? Regards from Chile
Very nice and, I think, thourough, explanation of tyre choices. As any farmer also would tell you, yes radials make for a far better footprint in the loose stuff, but lacks the durability of the diagonal tyre´s sidewalls. However, it is very noticeable on farm equipment that the build of the tyre makes high speed travels a lot bumpier. Do you notice this with car tires as well? It´s especially notiaceable if you leave a loaded trailer over night (quite often 12-14ply) overnight, the tyres will make a perfect impression of an egg the next day. Love your roll bar, that´s the sexiest part so far :)
What are your thoughts on wrapping a new car to help protect the paint work?
Hi Ronny, you've knocked up quite a few km on the AT811's now. What are your thoughts on these compared to the Maxxis RAZR MT's you run on the cruiser?
Looks nice, do you need a speedocorrection after fitting these bigger wheels?
Do those wheels that you replaced affect the accuracy of reading and measurement of the speed meter?
"THIS reminds me of grand theft auto" haha love it
Hi Ronny, just a question, what size of wheel you using? 17x9? whats the offset? thank you!
Nice plate. Keeping with the Norse pets!
I ended up going with the LT 285 70R17 KO2's on my 2020 Ranger, and the 3" level on the front. Doesn't rub the mud flaps, but just a bit, touches the front crash bar! And yes, my speed is now 6KM/H faster. I've been asking around, but the Ford dealers can't adjust it with their computers. Only can be changed through aftermarket software!
Thanks Ronny for the video, I would like to make the change on my Hilux but what is the width of the rim ? 17x7 ? 17x9 ?
Would like to see you comment about the legalities on tire size and also offset. If you're doing a realistic build then engineering cost anything over 50mm height + track width should be included. Would also be interested in seeing the process for that.

It’s a 265/70 not even close to being illegal
I can hear the difference between the highway and all terrain tires. The surprising bit is that, I think, from the change in the noise, that some of what you thought was wind noise was actually coming from the highway tires, because even though the noise level was slightly higher afterward, it was a much lower pitch, so some of the higher pitch noise from before was also not there afterward. I could be completely wrong of course, but that's what it sounds like to me in the video.
Hi Ronny, I am just wandering about the et+10, so your wheels are 1 CM moved to the inside. Is there a reason for this choice?
I know you dislike them but i am loving the Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus tyres. Very capable off road and quite on road. Anyway those rims look amazing, as always, good video.

@@Ronny_Dahl Fair enough, you would have put them through more than I have, if they fail me when I start hitting harder tracks I'll look into the Tyres you just put on the Hilux
This is cool to watch, interesting to see what Hiluxes are all about since we can only get Tacomas in the US.
Did the brakes allow for a straight swap? Rollux bars look good.
Hi Ronny, i have just purchased 265/75R16 for my 2016 ford ranger wildtrak and there is a bit of rubbing at on particular angle on the front mudflap, is this a huge issue? And what can be done about it? Not wanting to lift the car but rather was hoping there was a way to adjust the front mudflap, cheers mate.
I have been saving for a Hilux SR5 for 12 months. Currently driving a Toyota Corolla 😬. If In the next 12 months, I make as much progress with savings and investing as I have in the last 12 months - will be able to buy one brand new. Watching all of these videos so I know what I’m doing when I walk into the dealership.
I live in Sinagra, Go Ronny!
Hey Ronny, does Integrity tyres sell PCOR wheels or did you bring that in and pay them to fit it because I can't find any PCOR on their website
