Hands down fabulous tire in the snow I have Maxxis razor Mt 33 On my 1984 4runner did incredibly well through blizzard conditions in Donner and Tahoe going downhill braking fast and not slipping. Really great control driving them through thick snow and hard ice. Had my fun doing brody's in 2' of snow and plowing through without bogging down through 4' of snow. I felt comfortable on the highway driving over a foot of hard packed snow on a steep hill doing about 55 to 60 at times in blizzard like conditions.

Yes, narrow snipes (small burrows inside of the lugs/contact patches) increase snow traction like crazy.. snow sticks to snow.. and once its stuck and packed in there, it just adds traction. Thanks for the tire video.. its nice to see people analyze what's out there on the market.

Honestly never considered these tires as outstanding in any one thing outside of durability. Durability seems like the most noteworthy quality of these tires from what I have seen of them in action. Never owned a set but it's a tire I pay attention to. Nice review. Man I loved my Ko2s in everything except mud honestly. Wish they were a bit more true to size though.

Great review, I am glad to hear someone as experienced as you share my opinion of these tires. I run 37's on a 2020 Gladiator and they absolutely rock! My opinion differs slightly on your snow rating as I have had them up the mountain trails on multiple occasions this year and they performed very well, not a 4, but definitely a 3-3.5.. keep rockin the channel, your doing a fantastic job!

I'm gonna second anyone giving you a thumbs up. You're doing an excellent job on your videos. You've inspired a lot of what I want to build but with an XJ Cherokee. Definitely want to go 40's. I live in Idaho, so we got some nasty snow here and the mud is super heavy snot like clay. It's super easy to get stuck in the Caribou mountain and Bone area because of those reasons. You should look into Yokohama X-MT's. I've met a couple guys running them and they love them in all conditions so far. They drive here and all around Moab Utah too. They are very aggressive tires but surprisingly they aren't terrible on the pavement. You should give them a try. I'm going to go with a set of those in 40x13.50x17's

  • @raminit1363

    @raminit1363

@@mr.dozer.7471 - Really happy with the tire. Very even tread wear, rides very well. Only thing I will change is tire size when it's time to replace. Gonna go down to 35's. Because of the aggressive tread, you will feel a little bumpiness when you first take off from a stop, which can get a little annoying in California stop and go traffic, but it does smooth right out when moving. If you do very little to no offloading, a all terrain may be better for you.

I have a set of these on my Sand Rail, when I do trail rides. I live in Arizona, my experience is in deep sand the last thing you want is an aggressive tire you will sink to your axles quick unless your moving fast. Believe it or not a regular street will do well in the sand versus an aggressive tire.

Great video. 2005 F350 cab and Chassis dually 4-wheel drive. Yes it's built from the ground up with 8 inch lift 48 gears 6-speed manual. Tomorrow I have a choice. The Maxxis Razr 37x12.50r17 or Mazama open range 35 1250 17. I'm currently running 37 now with no problems my front differential has been moved forward 1 and 1/4 inch. I do a lot of highway driving but when I go off-road hunting I do stupid off-road maneuvers. I guess my question to you is how do you think these Maxis razors will do on 11k dually? Keep in mind I do a lot of hauling regarding fifth wheels and 38-foot offshore racing boats.

I’ve been told that many off-road tires have changed their lug size within the pattern itself so that no two are the same size. It’s said that this minimizes the acoustics brought on by air and vibration as the tire rotates on the road. I guess this keeps the tire from resonating and producing a howl. IDK...

Was gonna get the Mickey Thompson Baja Pro XS, but I would have had to wait for 12 weeks. I have dry rot on my Nitto Mud Grapplers and have to replace them immediately. Considering I have to go over the pass from Seattle to my hometown of Wenatchee, a mud tire that's good on the freeway is (reluctantly) a better idea than the Baja's. Enjoyable review, thanks. I have the Big Horn Maxxis's on my almost everyday '87 F150. They work better in 4 inches or more snow then on plowed to the ice level. Road noise is lower than I expected on clear roads, or my hearing is worse than I thought lol.

i had a set of them on my truck for a while, only managed to break them loose on sheet ice unless i really tried to break free, liked them more than the km2's that replaced them, but hard to turn down a good deal for how i use them

I've had these RAZR MT's now for a year and a half. Had ko'2 previously, these MT's have been far better then expected. I run out here in the Mojave & Colorado Desert of California/AZ. Pure desert trails, flat, rocky, sandy, a little bit of mud. I will be buying again...

The K02 is in fact considered a snow tire. They have the triple peaks rating on the sidewall. The K02s I have on my Jeep have some big chunks taken out from rock tho. Not as durable as some but still I’ve never had a flat or tear in the sidewall. Tire size 315/75r16

Maxxis tires are great I had them on my FJ in a 6ply which was awesome for a light 4x4 daily driver cause the everyday ride quality was there and they were quite and then love them so much i put them on my 97 f350 powerstroke 4x4 4dr LB in a 10ply and they towed well and got me in and out of sticking situations. Most under rated and overlooked tire. I have a jk now and will be putting these on it and recommending them to my jeep group. But you know they will just think I'm a cheap ass cause they think price and name are where it's at lol

I live and both in New England. I run the Pro Comp MT2. I have to agree with you, they are a great all around tread. I need something that will handle good on pavement, rocky granite, and shale type off roads, mud, and both wet, and dry snow! I think you are right about these Maxis in snow, which is why I’ve avoided them.

Have you ever had any experience with the goodyear wrangler mt/r kevlar? I have those in 33's on my current truck and plan on getting 35s soon. Was looking at the creepy crawlers but they only make them in a bias ply if you've had any experience with the Goodyear how would you compare them to the razr mt's?

Nate. Know it's an old video review but I have a question. I'm on Patagonia MTs now. My second set. Looking at these Maxis as of of my new choices to go with now. I overland and do have to do a considerable amount of highway to get to my destination, being I live in the northeast and try and go out west for long term travel. Anyway, road noise unfortunately matters. I know you have run the Patagonia also. How do these compare? Thanks.

Re maxxis Razr Mt 40 13.5 17. Do you find C is better than D? 09 TJ, 6" lift, 1 1/4 BL, long arm kit metalcloak suspension. I'm trying to decide whether I want 37-in D or 40in C? Yes I like to play off-road obviously. I would appreciate your input for C or D. Clarence is definitely not an issue. Thanks a bunch I enjoy your videos

When the KO2s wear out, you should try out Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws. They have been a tremendously great tire for my Jeep and they actually do exceptionally well in mud, surprisingly. I plan to run a Milestar Patagonia M/T next. Great video and keep up the great work!

Michael Nord you will be lucky to get 20k out of a set of Patagonia’s. Plus they are not impressive in the mud compared to trail grapplers.

I like Goodyear mtrs I'm on my 3rd set they do well on my Cherokee. And on my cj5. Ive had 1 set of bfg ko1 and 2 sets of ko2's they wear like iron I gave my set of ko1s to a friend they are 33s and he's still driving on them we did some math and they have over 150k miles on them. I like ko2's for a daily driver I even put some on a 2wd Silverado then some on my wife's Cherokee. I've had super swamper tsl tires and I liked those they actually lasted a while. I've also had super swamper tsl boggers and tsl thornbirds I hated the thorbird tires and the boggers were pretty good but I've been sticking with the mud terrains. The cooper stt mud terrains are also good tires but I haven't tried the stt pro just the one before that came out. The cooper does great in snow a little better than the mtr's I think.

How would you rate the radial Trepadors against these? The Trep tread seems to suggest its more of an AT-style, would that translate into a better all around tire? Are they equally durable?
