Toyota Fortuner 2021 review: GX off-road test

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Toyota Fortuner has always been a solid seven-seat 4WD, but this ute-based wagon has never reached anywhere near the sale heights of Toyota’s LandCruiser, Prado and HiLux.
Well, the new-generation Fortuner is here and it has revised styling, more power and torque, increased towing capacity, improved fuel consumption, more safety tech, and a bigger multimedia screen.
But there’s also a price rise to go with those changes. And the question remains: Is the Fortuner worth your money?

    It is very rare to have a car review host, someone like Marcus, with that perfect speaking pace. The speed of his speeches is really easy to the ear. I could do something else and still listening to his review while other reviewer talks too fast or just not at the ideal pace. Keep it up, Marcus!

    I have had a Fortuner for nearly 12 Years now and have to say they are Great Daily drivers. Still enjoying touring with it and only came back last Sunday from a Tour with my Fortuner. Remove the 3rd Row, almost never need it anyway, pack a Fridge in there and you are good to go touring wherever you want. Great Car! :)

Traded a Toyota Condor for the Fortuner, don't know if you guys ever had em? :D Mine is a 2008 Model, very reliable with nearly 400 000 km. No Major issues as of yet, hope it stays that way since i wanna push it to 500k before trading. :)

    How is the ride quality? Still comfy for city driving ?? Or bouncy like a hilux ?

  • @NuSsY002

    @NuSsY002

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@mohnnadmercedes8246 The ride Quality depends a lot on your tyres. Don't ever use "city" Tyres if you wanna go offroading. We had Michellins, drove 5km on Gravel and lost 2 Tyres. Also those old Modells still had 16" giving your sidewall more room for dampening, assisting the shocks. The New ones seem bouncier over humps etc in a city due to 17" or 18" Rims. What i usually do is drop the tyre pressure a bit unless you are fully loaded, that makes the ride so much more comfy. The Hilux bounces so much because it doesn't have weight in the back when its not loaded, since the Fortuner is closed, its heavy enough to stay grounded where most Hiluxes bounce. :)

    @Ricky Hit 242 000 Miles last Week Nope as i said before, no major issues with the car in general and no issues with the engine what so ever. in fact, the mechanic keeps telling me, he has never seen the V6 keep in such a good state after so many miles. ^^ but thats because we use it for a lot of overlanding, the engine likes to be "used" and needs long trips not city trips. V6's die in a city, they need country roads else they clog up. :)

Baby Land Cruiser, more practical, going off road without changing tyres when all of sudden must go to a remote place, off road with daily highway tyres. GR Sport Fortuner 2.8 was released in Indonesia on Feb 2022. A new version of 200+ HP & 500+ NM torque. Only, when I bought the GR Sport, I remember myself I am not really fan of the noise coming from diesel engine. So instead 2.8 Diesel I bought myself Fortuner GR Sport 2.7; a 2700 Cc gasoline engine😅, dual VVTI. And it runs very smooth, and machine is so quiet ! Vibration on your foot also doesnt exist for long ride🔥🔥🔥.

    New fortuner is better even with my LC 200 when doing in the city due to a "proper" sizes SUV in my opinion. Even the brake and acceleration is comfy and quick enough to catch around 50 to 60 km/h. Test this on indonesia road. The suspension is quite harsh and stiff yet the sound proofing of this car is really good which makes me fall asleep in some cases... Definitely will have it again if the new Legendar come to my country.

    I'll wait for the comparison of the 2021 Fortuner to the Everest. I do dislike the way the rear seats fold. They take up too much space!

    R Soul you can’t I don’t think your ment /allowed it’s like having non factory standard drivers side floor mats in during log book service at a Toyota dealer

    Ron North course you can, it is a matter of a few bolts, job done. But roger that regarding the floor mats, I have to take my vehicle to Toyota for service, first thing I have to do when collecting it is retrieve my mats out of the stupid bag the put them in every single bloody time.

    @@rsoul7282 Where I live, to remove the seats (making it then a 5 seat vehicle) as the 7 seats are permanently fixed in at the factory. You have to also take out the seat belts and have the vehicle inspected and re-registered as a 5 seat vehicle. The insurance policy would then have to reflect this removal. To put the seats and seat belts back in, you will need a certificate of compliance from a qualified service centre. Then you will need to re-register and change your insurance for the vehicle. So not such a simpleton idea.
