I actually like the sweeping line towards the rear end of the car. Great for off-roading and towing with its high ground clearance. I don’t mind the firm ride at all. Spacious, good looking, great engine, safety features, etc. This SUV can actually go real off road where others like Sorento can’t! They are called SUVs but their ground clearance is minimal. It’s a great allrounder. Not popular therefore you won’t see too many on the road ad nausea. With a bull bar and roof rack and tow bar it becomes a great touring vehicle!

Before I would consider the Fortuner I need to know if Toyota has properly sorted out the DPF problem which has plagued their diesels for years.I have read that the Pajero Sport diesel has no such problem so no matter how good Fortuner may be in other respects,Pajero Sport is at the top of my list, until such time it is clear that Toyota has resolved the DPF issue.I have read a lot about it recently and I remain unconvinced that it has been.I hope someone can persuade me differently.

So much so that slightly used cars are sold at a higher than brand new car’s price because there is months of waiting on new ones ! The top spec fortuner is 15000 USD more then the top spec Hilux.

I live in Thailand where the Toyota Hilux and Toyota Fortuner are manufactured for the Australian market. I only need 4 seats; maybe 5 seats so 7 seats is not necessary. There is a massive difference in priice between the Hilux and Fortuner so it makes sense to buy the Hilux and keep luggage in plastic boxes or even a caddy for carrying things.

Good review and better changes for 4wd. The seven seat row block the blind spots , but you can remove it.

Tight race between this and Pajero Sport. We need these for space for beach and kayak gear more than off-road and don’t like the utes for their tighter rear seats and constrained cabin space. Much closer comparison to a PS now that the Fortuner has Apple car play. I like the additional power, but where is the hybrid? Sliding rear seat are great too. I don’t like the 10k service intervals.

One advice for all car buyers: Don't spend such awful lot of money on a car. Instead invest it in buying real estate (flat). Invest in a home. That will give you the returns. You will be happy and prosperous by this investment ☺️👍
