Many years ago the town I grew up in had a joint fire department with the local township. There was a big fight over the local amusement park wanting to join the city and leave the township because the township cost more or couldn’t provide what the city could. Broke up the fire department over it, the township did. I will never vote for any of those men no matter if they run for president. They put people’s lives at stake over money.

I'm really sad for this little town. They have been taken advantage of and treated poorly. I really hope you can help bring order and honesty to the town leaders because this is a ridiculous way to run a meeting and a town.

The sheriff should have been called immediately when any office holder was at the hall. NO documents should have been removed. You need a court order/subpeona for every record removed.

Trouble is, the previous council was 100% complacent in the mayor's debauchery by never demanding to see "the bills" before they voted to "pay the bills" and so much more. None of them have clean hands for that alone.

I've been hooked on this for weeks now. Forget Yellowstone, tune into The Odder Creek Chronicles and this admirable guys fight for whats right. Unmissable.

I keep telling folks small town corruption is worse than anything happening in larger towns/cities because no one wants to stand up out of fear of retaliation.

I think russ planned this meeting because he knew the lady was going to be out of town 😡

I used to be on a city board. This kind of stuff goes on all the time, especially when no one is at the board meeting.

so he cancelled the meeting where the new mayor was going to be voted in by the council so he could have it when the main opponent wasn't there. I don't know if you can get more corrupt than that.

I love what you’re doing for the community. I come from a small town also and it never has so much illegal activity. Our mayor and council members were all clear on results of the meeting. And never ripped the people off!!!!!!! I hated the fact that I had to move from there because I found out it’s not the same everywhere!!! Which is crap!!! Keep up the good work for the residents!!!! They deserve honesty from their leaders!!! This is so much like a soap opera!! I love it!! But will be glad when you win for the residents!!!

Many retired lawyers do continue to practice law by either keeping clients they already have, working probono.or taking on clients with simple cases. And most of them dress like this or are very dressed down. We had a lawyer when we were guardians for my brother. He was his lawyer for about 30 yrs. We needed to talk to him about something. He does not have an office so he met us at the courthouse. I was totally shocked at his appearance!! He came in with extremely short shorts on that looked like underwear! Lol! And I will not say what was actually showing!! Lol!! It was unbelievable! He had a t-shirt and sandals on with it. He looked awful and he said when they ate retired and no longer have an office they only need to dress up if they need to go to court.

Contact the Florida Secretary of State, and the States Attorney and file complaints for these violations. Then sue their backsides off in their personal and official capacities. They need to learn the hard way!

I live in Tennessee and have no dog in this fight, but I am hooked and just getting acquainted with the cast of characters in this town is the best of reality TV! Been looking for a place to visit on vacation and odder creek just might make the list. Now I gotta go get more back-story.

I am very proud of you for knowing our rights and dont let ego/power employees take over.

Re: The minutes not being recorded. I worked for a state agency that had to hold regular meetings. No one jotted down the events of the meeting during the meeting, rather the meeting was recorded and a clerk would later listen to the recording and compile the minutes to be approved at the next meeting. So one need not have a clerk attending to minutes at the meeting so long as one will take a recording of the meeting and prepare the minutes from that. However, meetings usually also state the time that they start, go in and out of breaks or special sessions, and when they adjourn, to ensure that the times are correct in the minutes. I haven't seen that happen in these Otter Creek meetings yet.

The lawyer is probably just as crooked as the rest of them.

Wow, people everywhere need to watch this...and learn. When you clean house, sometimes it gets really messy. It can get so messy, sometimes you wish you hadn't started it at all. But it takes work, perseverance and commitment to see it to the end. When you're all done, you can sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Keep up the good work for the people of Otter Creek. The Attorney that was there said until they can have the vote with the other lady there (since more wanted to wait until she is there) that Russ the Sus is the Mayor until the Council votes on the Mayor.

The council members make up made me smile. It looked like an OAP day centre with two carers. 😂😂

I live very close to Otter Creek and have been following the current events, but I have never commented before. However, I had to congratulate the "Hudson Girls" for their spirited defense of their father and their family name. I've known these ladies since their sister, "Sissy", babysat our young daughters in the late 1980's. In 34 years of teaching in Levy County, I worked with some of them and taught some of their kids....I also taught a few of the current county commissioners... Hudson Girls, I think your Dad would be very proud of you.

This town charges for water. It is supposed to be SAFE, CLEAN, DRINKABLE, POTABLE WATER. By listening to the council it sounds like a bunch of kids making up rules as they go. Russ needs to be out of town politics completely, mayor council everything. The town shouldn’t be charging late fees and threatening disconnecting notices if they can’t read or bill correctly. How can they afford locks for hydrants if they can’t pay their bills? Go Jeramy. This town needs a lot of help and cleaning up 🧹.

Do any of these people understand what defending the Constitution means? Do they understand what treason is? Who would want to drink the water the town is providing? I’d couldn’t stomach it!

Whoever takes the minutes, isn't there supposed to be an accountability of who makes the motions, who seconds, who says yay, who says nay, etc.? I don't see anyone recording this in any minutes book or whatever. And as Jeremy has pointed out, the Mayor is only needed to vote in account of a tie vote. And the Vet who spoke up at the end of the meeting, I'm sorry, as a vet myself, this was unwarranted and uncalled for by him. The Prejudice is rampant there in Odder Creek. This amazes me. Can't wait for tomorrow.

When a vote is taken they ask for those in favor and are supposed to ask for those opposed, which I have never heard them do.

That’s what I was thinking. I’m sure that the minutes are to be available to the public upon request, or they should be. I’d be curious as what the previous minutes held and it doesn’t need to be a FOIA. They also need to educate themselves on the rules of parliamentary procedure.

There are two assistent clerks employed by the town. Did they retire/resign as well last Tuesday and is it legal to have a meeting without a clerk

That mayor sits there with a smile on his face as if he is untouchable to be held accountable for his actions he truly thinks his shit doesn’t stink .I felt so bad for the sisters when they stood up and read that comment about the family name he sat there with the biggest smile on his face ,that right there says it all you know he said it and was spreading it. I am so proud of the sisters that stood up for their dad and the family name.❤

Those signs have me through the ROOF I'm hella pissed. Jeremy and the rest of the good people get treated like this. Every other idiot that is corrupt should be locked up. Russell Meeks God has tried to help you but you don't and won't ever change. About time Mary resigned.

As ann ex fireman, we trained for speed, we pull up to a hydrant wrap the hose so it pulls off the truck, spin off the cap, spin on a y, unwrap the hose, hook it up and wait for the horn to supply water, this process happens or should happen in less than 1 or 2 minutes. Trying to cut a lock or use keys to open a lock could increase that time. I would say it's a huge life safety risk locking those hydrants

One of my favorite things on earth is when someone LIES, and then somebody else pulls up video proof that they are LYING. It makes my day. The "turtle lady" is going to have to eat a bunch of her own words.

Somehow I doubt Mary would ever know what doing the right thing is all about
