There is only Miss Lewis now..the other Peahen was her mother Ozella.. they used to look after their chicks together..but Ozella was killed by a predator in the woods because that's where she laid her eggs..the same wood Miss Lewis has just taken her brand new babies into !!..fingers crossed 🤞 they all come back safely .

Hi Cog Hill family 👋. Brooke , I make mayonnaise using a can of condensed milk, not quite a can of malt vinegar and about a 1/2 teaspoon of keens powdered mustard ( dissolve mustard in a little vinegar ) and shake and till combined and thick 👍

My mom grew up in a very poor family who depended on government cheese for part of their diet. They used mayonnaise on their grilled cheese because the govt. cheese was very hard and dry and did not melt very well, and the mayonnaise helped with that.

I’m not sure what state that was in but when my mom divorced my stepdad, around ‘65, we (I was 10, sister 8 & half brother 1) went on ‘welfare’ in Lodi, CA for a little while. I remember that big brick of Velveeta Cheese & gallon size buckets of peanut butter. To this day I can’t eat that cheese!

❤ That's a good way to prep for a storm. Hurricane, whatever. Have some kind of food or snack and not go bad . I'm so happy you got 4 little baby pee hens.

I have 5 boys and 4 girls, and used to make bread pizza with hot dog rings on it. I made it in the oven, then finished under the broiler. Never heard of Mayo on grilled cheese, but will try it! We had grilled cheese with tomato soup and popcorn.

@niyo138. * * * Agreed! I must have pickles on my grilled cheese - the more the merrier. I am not a fan of mayo but I will try it since Brooke and Jason mentioned it. I have zero jars of mayo in my kitchen but I found a small packet from a Chick-fil-a drive thru order. (No expiration date, I checked.)

I just made a grilled cheese sandwich last night and put seeet pickles on it! My favorite way to eat it!

Good morning Brooke from MS. Brooke I put a small amount of mayo on the outside of the bread instead of using butter in the skillet with no mayo on the inside. Brooke have you tried freeze drying chili or soups? If you have I missed it.

What about putting a couple full size grill cheese sandwiches in with the cut up ones as experiment to see if u can freeze dry regular size sandwiches, just to know??? Just an idea , to know if it works for future sandwiches. I would be curious. ❤🤗😋🙋🏻‍♀️👍🤟✌🥪

I just rewatched the video from a year ago when you painted the doggy room & the video before. Jason showed all the area outside. My, y’all have worked so hard since. The difference is amazing. From the gardens, driveway, pastures, yard spaces around the house. You both have always been hard workers, but we don’t realize how much has been done in the past year. I’m so happy for you & the beautiful Cog Hill Farm.

Hi from South Carolina. I always put mayo on a grilled cheese, inside and out instead of butter. I looked up the correct pronunciation of Brioche and I’ve been pronouncing it wrong. There is a reason Jason is called ‘the word smith’!

Brooke add pear slices, bacon, gouda cheese and grilled onions on your bread and grill. Or a blackberry jam, jalapeños and bacon with your choice of cheese and grill. We absolutely love thinking outside the box with different fruits and stuff for grill cheese. Also to cut down the stove time toast your bread before slathering the mayo or butter and then grill. Doing this you will see a more golden grill and it cuts way back on skillet time. We enjoy an everything sourdough dough we find at Aldi for our grill cheese as well. You can also do apple butter or anything you can think of.

Great news!! Pea chicks are wonderful! Who knew that you could freeze dry a sandwich?? Way to go Brooke! So creative and thinking outside of the box!

When I was at wee one our housekeeper made grilled cheese with mayo all the time but instead of butter to grill the bread she used the mayo. Since then that's how I do and my kids love them that way.

How cool was that!! You have never ending successful ideas!😋

Brooke, may I suggest, when making your grilled cheese sandwiches, next time. Melt your butter, and use a pastry brush, and lightly brush the entire surface of the outside of your bread. This will insure that your bread actually fully toast. Or brush your pan every time you put you grill cheese sandwiches in your frying pan, and each time you flip your sandwiches, too. This too, will insure that your entire bread surface fully toast. Also, I would double up on your cheese, too. I do double up when I make either grill cheese sandwiches, etc, ok? This will intensify the flavor, and you will taste more of the cheese flavor with your sandwiches. Hope these little techniques help insure a better tasting grill cheese sandwich in the future for you guys. Good luck, enjoy!
