Tour of Kurt Cobain's Childhood Home 1210 E 1st St Aberdeen, WA (Felony Flats)

This four bedroom house in the Felony Flats neighborhood of Aberdeen is up for sale at $500,000. Kurt Cobain lived in several homes in Aberdeen and this is actually one of the nicest ones of the lot.
Don't forget to check out all the Kurt Cobain videos on my channel, including a tour of his apartment in Olympia. And if you want to read the full story of my travels in the footsteps of Kurt Cobain, pick up my new book Breakfast with Polygamists: Dispatches from the Margins of The Americas. A short version of this piece was published in The New York Times, but the full unedited version of the piece includes some perspectives from Kurt's uncle, who still thinks Courtney had Kurt killed.

No one should ever touch that room, or the whole house. Wow, how amazing to look out his windows and see exactly what his eyes had seen. Bizarre feeling. To walk around that house knowing that he had touched so many surfaces and stood there. walked there...I know its weird but it is actually really cool. Hopefully someday I can go there and just stand in his room.

Its easy to think that...but the house is not that bad, and I doubt he was depressed when he was younger, and if he was it would have been about his parents splitting up more so than the house (in my opinion). I mean...he had his own room, and that view out of his bedroom window...that's actually allot better than what many people have I recon, instead of just seeing houses on the opposite side of the street and nothing else, there's actually some wildlife to see...would prob look very nice with the sun rising.

Despite the insane amount of money they're asking for this house, a true fan needs to buy this house and preserve it. And you know what I'm thinking about it myself. Because if it's not a fan that buys it, they're going to tear everything down and it will be gone. So to the naysayers about a fan buying this house and turning it into a museum, it is a hell of a lot better then it being redone.

I don't think so! A 53-year-old Kurt Cobain would have probably liked the idea of a museum. In 2020, he would not be that 27-year-old heroin addict anymore. His fame would have probably even vanished. If he was still alive today, he would have grow older and mature like we all do. I went to Aberdeen and saw the house with my own eyes. I walked on the lawn but I coudn't get inside the house. I would like to see that house being turned into a museum about Cobain's childhood and teenagehood. Heck! I would even rent rooms to spend the night there, have rock jams in the basement, and throw house parties for Nirvana fans. This house really means something for so many people around the world. It's more than just a house. What's more, ''His family are also interested in partnering with a buyer interested in turning the house into a museum.'' @EpicUndead I don't think that we can speculate either that he wouldn't have liked to see his childhood house turned into a museum like some people say on this thread. In Liverpool, both Paul McCartney's and John Lennon's chilhood houses were turned into a museum. Why could'nt we do it with Kurt Cobain's childhood house? Kurt Cobain showed a cynical, sarcastic, and I don't give a damn kind of attitude in the media. But in fact, he was really serious with his music and ambitious with his band. There are already thousands of people visiting Aberdeen every year just because it is Kurt Cobain's birthplace. Let's turn this gem of a house into a museum. And I don't care what Kurt would have thought about it. It's not for him. It's for the fans and the history of rock music.

The picture of him as a kid with the guitar Ive seen must have been taken in the hall outside of the room their claiming to be his bedroom. In the old photo the door knob is on the right and it is a wood shingled room. The bedroom in this vid is sheet rocked with the door knob on the left. Stop this video at 2:39 and I think that is where that old photo is taken.

I was just there yesterday. It's an interesting town for sure, but both times I've been to Aberdeen, it was nice and sunny. The road there from Seattle is beautiful. Ocean shores is also very nice and that's next to it. But Aberdeen is like a time capsule almost. I saw Kurt's house. Pretty decent compared to some of the others.

It ought to be taken over {at market value} by something similar to ''The National Trust'' in UK ..T?he house would be kept the same, but maintained, and maybe made like a 'Family home ' again, but of the era. {they did this with one of the Beatle's old childhood homes, I think.} But asking $350k is crazy...especially as some of the graffiti is now missing. Kurt's room still seems to vibrate, it seems the most "alive" room in the whole house. In that room Kurt dreamed and mentally saw everything he would become: those walls absorbed all his emotions. The first "sexual masturbation", the anger, the exaltation, the sadness, the desire... all compressed in that room. Who knows how many times he will have touched the curtains on the window ... it's all very fascinating. That room is filled with his breath.
