TOUGH winter hike in a frozen LAKE DISTRICT / S4-Ep05 Hiking the Wainwrights

Hiking the Wainwrights - S4-Ep05: Cold Pike and Pike O' Blisco
There's no day like a SNOW DAY! We seldom get proper Alpine days here in the Lake District so when we do it's a real treat and chores are shelved in favour of rugging up and getting out.
Join Finn and me as we tackle the aptly named Cold Pike and the wonderful summit of Pike O' Blisco. This was a surprisingly tough day that taxed us both due to the refreezing of the snow but that still didn't take away from the sheer joy of being alive and out in the mountains!

I discovered your channel two months ago. I watch one episode each day. It is impossible to express how you (and Finn) have changed my life. When I hear that beautiful piano introduction a surge of emotional bliss overwhelms me. When you describe the beautiful scenery with words like gorgeous, exciting, amazing, stunning, spectacular, and bliss in that wonderful accent, it makes me feel cheerful for the rest of the day. Please continue to make your videos in the same format. With grateful thanks.

This is Kevin Clements. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your beloved Cumbria . S.T. Coleridge penned a poem named Hymn before Sunrise which a poet friend tells us was actually written after Coleridge experienced a moment of terror as he found himself trapped on a cliff while climbing Scafell Pike alone . Fear and epiphany both came in the same moment as he was forced to notice the sky , clouds , and crags which he found himself surrounded by . I too had such an experience while climbing . thx , Kevin Clements

Another good one this. Did Pike o Blisco and Cold Pike last February, cheated though as parked at top of Wrynose. Did those 2 in the morning then Harter Fell in afternoon. Great day. Watched another channel yesterday Bushman and Blue, they were on Blisco, but slightly windier and not as pretty 😂

Another great day out Glenn and what I particularly found informative was the way you told of the conditions, equipment and mind-set for walking in full winter conditions. Some can come across as condescending but you explained it extremely well, so that those not familiar with such conditions could take some lessons without feeling that they are being judged. Must admit though that I was surprised that you didn't have an axe but micro spikes in those conditions, spot on even though I'm not a lover. Top film once again and such days only come along rarely in a winter. Cheers bud,

Breathtaking - I have only experienced The Lakes in the snow a few times and loved it. Pillar from Buttermere and Striding edge must do’s for those seeking adventure. Can’t believe that was the road. Blea tarn used to be covered in those pines hopefully they (LDNP) will plant some more. I laughed at PoB summit when said the best view. I have an awesome photo in the snow looking over to Rossett pike crinkles, esk in the snow. It’s’ one of my fav summits although those large flat rock sections at the top are annoying at times. probably should have had your ice axe for the descent but you know that 🤭 Finn did well. So glad to see you back in the mountains where you belong. 😅 what a cracking route. Bet you slept well!
