Great video Brant! Always enjoy when you & Brad go out together and he brought a net. Lol. Then 2 minutes in, he was gone. Definitely grew up fishing those bobbers for flounder, sole, rainbows and mostly smelts and mackerel. Love homemade tarter sauce. Makes all the difference in eating fish. Thanks for sharing!!!

We call them minnows Cocahoe minnows in Louisiana and when I was guiding, in lower Lafourche, Terrebonne and Jefferson Parishes, I caught a large part of my redfish with these minnows, sometimes Speckled Trout too!

I thinking would be a great and informative video. For example the difference in the combos you use fishing from the surf, a boat, the piers or a jetty/inlet. Nice Mackerel. I've only caught 1 Mackerel this summer. Had a great day today but my buddy lost 1 Mackerel. Caught, an inshore Slam, ie; Snook, Red, Trout. I don't really know if that was a slam but hey. We caught bunches of Trout,, Snook, Redfish. 1 catfish, lost a Mackerel.... and HOT HOT HOT. was out 7+ hours on the kayaks today. Whew.

I noticed you loosening your main drag when fishing bait. Have you ever messed with any of the reels that have the "live-liner" or "bait-runner" features? I bought a shimano baitrunner oc back in the winter but haven't really had opportunity to put it through it's paces. I bought it for free-lining shrimp and other bait sort of how you were fishing the bull minnows.

You absolutely can. The only issue is the lifespan will be shorter. Even if you take good care of it sand and salt will do a number on the cheaper combos. I will try and come up with some.

That’s Gulf Shores State Park parking, not city of GS or OB. If you’re a veteran you can get a free parking sticker from the main office.

I am on a LEO income and a family of 4. What equivalent would you recommend that may be a little more affordable?

You absolutely can. The only issue is the lifespan will be shorter. Even if you take good care of it sand and salt will do a number on the cheaper combos. I will try and come up with some.

BBO staff were extremely nice when I was down a couple weeks ago! Shame on Gulf Shores and Orange Beach for their pay to park under the bridge and at West beach. Greed taking over

That’s Gulf Shores State Park parking, not city of GS or OB. If you’re a veteran you can get a free parking sticker from the main office.

Thanks for the info about free veteran parking under the bridge! I was mostly referring to general restriction of free public access in GS and OB. It has dwindled dramatically over the years.
