This is precisely why I always crack a window or take the keys with me. I got locked out of my car while it was started in a scenario just like this. So I will always put the keys in my pocket or give myself enough window room to get my arm in there. Glad you at least had fun fishing. It’s ridiculous that it took them that long to come and help you. In this scenario I would just call the cops or a locksmith and have them bring a slim jim to unlock the door

That’s a smart key all you had to do is touch your thumb on the door handle to unlock it. Key was within 5 feet and only the front door handles can do this. At 15:55 on the passenger handle I can literally see the little button to touch on the handle

I m counting more Gators than you are counting fish. Why not try wading. It may have been possible to cut rod tip at top guide and remove the rest then work the tip in at top of door and down to window down button or door unlock. Sacrificing your rod to allow you to gain entry would be better than spending the night in the middle of the everglades with no ride , food or water. Worse all those Gators come out at night to feed along with the Burmese pythons. I believe if the rod hack proved futile a rock to the passenger window would be in order.

Where I live in East Texas [the boonies/farming community] we do alot of pond hopping ! EVERY farm that has any amount of acreage/livestock usually will have several ponds some are small mudholes an some are huge 30-60 acre ,some are absolutely full of fish an some aren't ! There is 1 pond in particular that's within walking distance of my place and its on a piece of property that has been up for sale for ages [over 6 years] and its as you'd expect VERY overgrown an VERY hard to fish because of that BUT if your brave enough to weather a few chigger bites then this little pond is FULL of huge ''war mouth'' perch an they have a unique and beautiful coloration that I've NEVER seen anywhere else [I've fished ALOT of ponds etc] ! They are very colorful but what's unique is they have little black spots/dots all over them as if someone took a pepper shaker an gave them all a few shakes on each side ! Ive been fishing this area for decades an this is the ONLY place that I've EVER seen this particular color variation !

I've pulled up to Piney point boat ramp, and dropped my keys in the water about 50 ft from the ramp, with a giant storm coming. My cousin jumped off the back of the boat, and I don't know how, but found them in the murky water... miracle. Always an adventure!

I've locked the keys in my car numerous times. Now I have a hide away key holder stuck by magnet under the car. Keep a house key in there too. Also at gas pumps or anywhere I might be outside the car for a few minutes the window is left down enough to get my arm in if need be. Only the window part would help in a rental.

1:51 That is a Mayan Cichlid as Tilapia stripes only run midway down the side. The predator dots near the tail also gives it away as a Mayan Cichlid. Great catches, bro.

😛Wow! What patience, but I too would have waited - then smashed the window. God willing, tomorrow, I'm going to create my key numbers so that I can use the outside key pad on my older vehicle. Been meaning to do that for years - but have AAA & forget that sometimes locals might not show up at all, as in your situation.😝
