TOP LURE to CATCH YOUR FIRST BIG STRIPED BASS in 2018!

Спорт

Last year, we talked about lures that can help you catch your first striped bass during 2017. This year, we're taking things up a notch..discussing a great lure to catch your first big striped bass in 2018!
The super strike popper is a great topwater lure for striped bass that works well in very rough surf. It's similar to a pencil popper that are used regularly at the Cape Cod Canal, but can handle bigger waves and stronger winds better than a pencil.
In my own opinion, the super strike popper is the best springtime lures for big striped bass in rough surf. It is always the first plug out of my bag in windy conditions.

So you are using the black eyed sinking mode and not the red eye “ heavy” model? What size siwash hook do you put on th read instead of the treble? You’ve found the perfect action for that plug. Your vids are excellent

Hey Andrew, when fishing starts heating up the end of April we should hit some beaches.

Atom poppers work just as good for half the price of super strikes and they're the original plastic popper

A sad ripoff of the Gibbs Polaris.

To each their own I suppose! I prefer the super strike over the polaris because the super strike swims kind of like a metal lip on a slow retrieve in calm water, which combined with a pop every now and then is awesome in daylight and night. I keep both of them in the garage, and will clip on the white/redhead polaris every now and again, especially when I'm looking for a floater. Love the Gibbs Pencils though! Thanks for watching!

Seven Stripe Fishing Didn't mean to be critical, just that the wooden Gibbs have brought me my largest fish. The Casting Swimmer,Polaris,Darters all by Gibbs are striper candy.Forgot to mention Dannys big morsels for big fish. Thanks for replying to an old fogey, surf fishing since 1970,your doing a great job.

Does the Polaris swim as well as the super strike when steady retrieved? Serious question.... www.saltwaterplugs.com/Fatheadpoppers.htm This is an alternative popper that I really like.

Dan Evan If you retrieve the Polaris while letting the line strike your extended index finger and stopping now and again I believe it would. Wouldn't do so with braid as loops on the spool would cause a massive wind knot. The Gibbs CS and Danny would be more suitable when a true swimmer is needed. Just my opinion, what has worked for me time and again. Tight lines.

I agree with Steve, it's possible but not ideal. On a steady retrieve the polaris will start to wobble a little bit, but nothing like the super strike (or an actually metal lip). I find myself using the super strike when I'm on a sunset topwater bite, as daylight fades I use more swimming action with fewer pops, until I'm primarily swimming it. Then when it's actually nighttime I'll switch to a Danny or other swimmer. Thanks for tuning in guys!
