    I fish Jetties here up on the Northeast and I had good success on the drop as waves crash in the inlet. My go to lure for the past 5 years at least.

    I like to see the pictures of the “mosters” that you guys catch with that lure. Like a length of the fish with the tape measure next to the fish and a boga grip showing the weight of the fish. Hope you guys can post videos showing that from your previous years. That will be sweet.

    Thanks for watching, from May to October is the best time to fish the canal because the stripers run up through the canal in the spring and migrate back down south until late fall. We are fast approaching the end of the migration season on cape cod currently

    3.5oz will definitely get the job done👍🏽 you will just want to make sure to target slack tide if you are going to use lighter tackle so that the current is as strong

    They don't tell you that you'll get hung up on just about every cast trying to jig the canal. Sure worth a shot but honestly I prefer topwater and for the most part is just as effective. And you'll save yourself a bunch of money and headache.

    What rod/ reel brand/wt do you guys use for the 3.5 oz?

  • @catchingzzzsoutdoors1872

    @catchingzzzsoutdoors1872

    4 жыл бұрын

    There are endless options that will work with the 3.5 oz lure. My personal setup is the Penn Spinnfisher vi Long Cast Edition (6500) reel, while Mike uses the Penn Slammer lll (6500). As for the rod we use either a 10'6 or 11' medium-heavy to heavy actions rods. There are countless brands based on quality and how much money you want to invest in a rod.

    Dude…yes, Savage Gear lures are great but they are anything but inexpensive… no matter who or where you buy them from… More than likely,.. I’m older than the both of you guys put together… Plastic baits are not new … everyone thinks it’s the newfangled bait… No, Wrong, Bad…! Freshwater bass fishermen have using plastic worms long before I was even born…! Anyway,… $10 to $20 a pop is not cheap… for a jig swim bait .. even though you get the 2+1 pack …2 tails and 1 jig head is the only way you feel you got a deal but not really… ! Back in the day … we used a white buck tail jig and an Uncle Josh’s pork rind strip … That was textbook Striper fishing and we whipped conventional beavers … not the grinders you young whipper snappers use.. thinking it’s the best thing since sliced bread…. As you know by now,.. we have multiplier reels that cast close to 400 yards .! The CapeCod Canal and Montauk is quite the place to be for Stripers but never have I seen anyone with conventional gear there.. where’s the skill in casting a spin gear and why the helm do you need a bale… really strange design of a fishing reel to say the least…! Stop telling people savage gear is inexpensive…. All lures are made are to attract you to buy them …. Truth is … it does not matter what your lure looks like or what it does… if it moves,… the fish will attack it… do the math fellas…. 👍😎🤙
